jimflutes
Just took it in for oil change and 40,000 mile check up. I had felt the brakes acting up but I did not hear any brake squeal that indicates the brakes were worn ,and with the regenerative brakes on the hybrid it was hard to tell . Well they were worn down to the rotors and both had to be replaced at $378.00 for rotors and pads , the fronts were fine. It was expensive but what a great difference in the stopping ,they now have a higher petal and feel really powerful and safe so I felt it was worth it. So what is it worth to be safe on the road ? priceless . Jim Edited August 21, 2016 by jimflutes
hermans
Did they check to see if there was an issue that may have caused it? I just had mine checked and all 4 wheels had just over 80% left. Mine has 32,680 miles on it and my lifetime brake score is 92%.
jimflutes
Wow , You have 80% and mine was down to the rotors. Well he did not say there was anything unusual and the front brakes were fine , I thought that the front would be worn down first. I never ride the brakes so I don't know. He did say they were experiencing more problems on the Ford c max brakes and that is a hybrid also.
hermans
I've seen the posts where some have changed their brakes at 140K just to be safe. Someone posted pictures on the FFH forums where their brakes were at 50% at 120K but they still changed them to be safe. I have also seen posts where the ebrake was sticking/hanging up causing premature rear brake wear. From the FFH forums....http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9250-rear-brakes/?hl=brakes Edited August 22, 2016 by hermans
jimflutes
This seems to be not the same for all Ford cars , just like one could be a lemon and another runs great ( like mine ). So for whatever reason my back brakes went quicker than most others. The bottom line now is that they feel super good , and I will keep my eye on them by checking the pads more often. That is a good article on Ford brakes , they are more complicated than I knew especially on the hybrids.
