JoeBrown
good one! I give up too, im still tryin to come up with a good punch line....... ha h Thanks for being a good sport. I'm not familiar with the 2010 models. But could it be something to do with the filters, the wiring, connections? Since it is a full failure it should be easy for a technician to diagnose. drolds1
Both sides aren't cooling? That's a little unusual since each seat has its own module. There must be a communication problem between the seat modules and the climate control module. A dealer has the equipment to scan for diagnostic codes. Thanks again guys

willy j
good one! I give up too, im still tryin to come up with a good punch line....... ha haok, why do my seats heat up but won't cool down?. ...........CUZ you have to have the AIR turned on! ...... huh huh get it?! Yeah me neither, that isn't the case with the heated seats but that's the only way they will cool down. Thanks everyone
drolds1
ok, why do my seats heat up but won't cool down?. ...........CUZ you have to have the AIR turned on! ...... huh huh get it?! Yeah me neither, that isn't the case with the heated seats but that's the only way they will cool down. Thanks everyone You do not have to A/C on to operate the cooled seats. They work independently. Each seat has its own climate control module which operates a thermoelectric device (TED), also known as a Peltier device. In fact, DOE tests concluded that MPG could be boosted by drivers using the cooled seats without engaging the A/C. I can attest to that. On marginally warm days, I've used the cooled seats independent of the A/C. I had a 2010 MKZ and was able to do this. Maybe what you're feeling is cooled air from the cabin being blown through the seat by the seat fans running. brucelinc
brucelinc
Drolds, I do the same thing with my MKS. On just moderately warm days, I often just have outside air with no A/C coming through the vents but have the seats cooling.

I confirmed today just what you mentioned, so that being said I'm able to cool the seats even more with the ac ON? Or no? CALICOJOE
Even when they're on, they don't work for crap if it's a hot day
Smokestone10
They do what they're meant to do on muggy days- keep your hind end from adhering to the seat. They don't feel like they do much but turn them off and drive for an hour straight and you'll notice the difference.
