R2D2
Over the last 2 weeks I have noted on 5 occasions that when I have a destination set in my NAV system and everything seems to be fine that all of a sudden the display is showing I am not on the road (Off Route) indicated. The first time this happened I was travelling to an unfamiliar location and my destination was somewhat out in the country so I chalked it up to just map data error and eventually the map realigned itself so it showed I was back on route. I had tried during the erroneous display to completely stop the car and restart including stopping and re-entering the destination information. Two days later it happened again but this time along town roads which I have taken many times before so I am throwing away the possibility of map data error. Yesterday morning error actually showed me streets that are unfamiliar so I have no idea how off it was. Most of the time it looks like it is 100-200' feet off the road. The error is not always in the same direction nor is it the same distance from the road so I am a little baffled here and wondering if it is a satellite that is acting up in it transmission or is someone (military, government, etc) making some update/adjustment to the actual GPS satellite? Maybe I have my tin-foil hat on right now but this system has been flawless for the last 1-1/2 years. I found this general article http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=gpsUserInput but it doesn't really address my issue as most of the time it is fine and accurate. I cannot duplicate the problem at will as it might be fine when I start out and then shows I am no longer on the road at some point on my trip. If I make the exact same trip a 2nd time, it stays on route. I tried googling to see if there was a general GPS satellite issue but came up with nothing. My general area of travelling is north/central florida. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
IraF
Here is what I encountered about 1 1/2 yrs ago , while travelling from Florida to Warner-Robins GA via I-75 , I would be off route, told me to get off the interstate and get back on or loss of satellite for a few miles and then everything would be okay, and while in Florida a ford/lincoln dealer told me to go back from A6 to A5 navigation maps and that would solve the problem and he even gave me an A5 SD card since he had heard other people having the same navigation problems as I was having. That did not solve the problem, so I googled and can't even remember now, but there was an update for the navigation software, not the maps and since there was a ford/Lincoln in warner-robins, ga ,they searched for updating the software and at first they couldn't find the update and when I showed them that there was an update on my cell phone , they searched and did update the navigation software once they were able to locate the update and i have never had the problem come up again. I THINK the DEALER might have to do the UPDATE and NOT YOU Hope this helps

I have had this vehicle since Oct 29, 2014 and have driven it for about 24,000 miles. The strange thing it has not happened again since my OP. I wish I had taken a picture of my display/dash when this happened. Anyone else got any ideas??? Edited June 8, 2016 by R2D2
