2017 MKZ orders

Recommended Posts

From my past experiences your cars may be on the same trains, but they will split in one of the Chicago rail yards. One goes East and then to Michigan and the other travels. Both of mine sat in Dolton (Chicago) for several days before they continued on. If you can get the rail car numbers from your dealer they are fun to follow. The dealers (several different ones) always gave them to me when I asked. When they are loaded on the trains at a plant the rail car number becomes available to them. Don 't let them buffalo you. It takes all of 30 seconds to look this info...if that long.

So for those playing at home the rail car # mine is on is Ettx710354

I will try track tomorrow night. After reading up AZ seems to be the hand off point between feromex (Mexican RR) and Union Pacific for the west of the Mississippi transit ( my guess is the hand off to csx or Norfolk southern would be Kansas City or St. Louis for the Detroit region (mi, in, il, oh, pa)

Here's how to track the rail car:

CSX
1. Call the CSX 1-800-235-2352
2. When prompted for location or weight, press "1" on your phone for location.
3. When prompted for the car initials, say CN (or whatever initials you have) then wait for the next prompt.
4. When prompted for the car number, say 907048 (or whatever your number is)
5. When prompted for next car say DONE.
6. That's it; enjoy your updated status report.

Union Pacific
1. Call UP at 1 800 877-5123
2. Follow phone prompts for Trace
3. Say the railcar number complete and clearly. Example CN123456 all together
4. Listen for your update

just out of curiosity ... what is the NE special edition disc pkg?

I'm not sure, it's nothing I ordered. The only thing I can think of is I had a $750 private cash offer that I used on the car.

But I wouldn't think that would show up on the window sticker.

Searched it with Google and found some other cars with this.

It also said  "Discount/Savings based on customer zip code see dealer for details"

Maybe it's something else. My salesperson said they would apply any other rebates/discounts they could find.

Anyway.. good to see you got your vin...  so from your date on the sticker (if i use mine as a basis) yours should build sometime next week.  drolds1 would probably know better.

I am happy i can start tracking mine via the rail car # .... getting close now!!!!

Did my nightly Cars.com search and.... One of the first 3.0T MKZ's has landed in Illinois.

Here's a picture of the engine.

Yeah the real early orders and dealership orders should be hitting now. Louisville, KY Bill Collins Ford has a Fusion Sport on the lot. They are arriving. Though guess mine will be next week as I kinda figured due to the train distance and all.

I sure hope so. If they're showing up in IL and KY, then hopefully I should see mine in NC soon.

They've seem to offer that on and off.  On my 2014, it was $770.  It doesn't seem to include anything extra.  They do this for various parts of the country.  When you check for incentives on line, they ask for your ZIP code.

Well my update for today is its in Dalhart, TX. Ah wish they moved the Fusions and MKZ back to Flat Rock...at least Continental is lucky for a home base assembly.

Some Fusions have been built in Flat Rock since the summer of 2013.

For the record, the Hermosillo plant turns out the highest quality cars of any any Ford plant.  If you're getting a Fusion, you want one from there.

Eh, I don't get into superstitions in regards to cars. 2017 Fusions are back at Hermosillo as Continental is taking its spot in Flat Rock. Fusion quality overall is average in general, as its just an everyday economy class vehicle with that uncomfortable 6F35 transmission. Biggest mistake I regret is getting FWD, and a I4 cylinder. But I was ignorant to car buying 2 years ago, which I did a 180 on in knowledge.

I do like the platform though, and there are many things I yearned for in the Fusion, that the MKZ finally nailed. So I'm doing it right this time (though I can actually wait for a factory order to get what I really want).

My 2014 Fusion Titanium is from Hermosillo. It works fine, in fact its now my "well cared for beater" since selling it is really bad and I even modified it to actually make it more tolerable. The headlights are the worst stock. Car is still too heavy really to benefit a turbocharged I4 efficiently. I have a love/hate for it since I improved some of its shortcomings. But that was only since I wouldn't of thought I'd be able to afford a Black Label MKZ this soon in life.

But hey, you live and learn. Now I'm getting a sweet MKZ for my patience.

Rail Car # ETTX710354 full of 2017 MKZ's (and maybe a Fusion or 2, but at the very least (1) MKZ with a 3.0T and drivers package) has departed Block, IL at 8:17 pm this evening.

Know if its a Black Label? Maybe its mine...if so, it's getting close.

Bah, really wish I could get them to leak my vehicle's rail car number. But dealer really doesn't know and the Concierge says they only get updates every 36-48 hours.

I really don't understand this Lincoln "concierge" thing.  I mean what do they provide that the dealer himself is not able to provide?  It seems to me that the dealership should be able to go through their sources at Lincoln to answer any questions and find out whatever they need to for their customers.  I guess it is nice to have another layer of contact but is it necessary?  I like to go through one person for everything associated with the purchase of my car and that is the person I bought it from - that is what I have done for the past 50 years, including luxury vehicles such as the Mercedes I drive now where I have one person I contact for everything.  When I ordered the car and asked periodically during the process and wait when it would be built, delivered, etc., I went to my salesman and he got the answers for me.  I would be very disappointed if I had a question about a car I bought and the dealer told me I have to contact Lincoln directly for the answer.

The concierge is online or available through phone (same as the dealer). But the online is available nearly 24/7.

It's an option really not an additional layer

I personally like to follow things closely so for me (so as not to be a pest to the sales person) I get "major" updates from my salesman and then do all the "minor" tracking info seeking etc usually not during "normal" business hours

That allows me to feel more informed and closer to the process and still allows my salesman to perform his function (selling and delivering cars)

Just my $0.02
