2017 MKZ orders

Recommended Posts

Nearing my 1,000 mile mark since I did some long distance travels.

Really like the car. If it doesn't encounter issues and continues to deliever, I'll most likely buy it once my lease ends.

One negative is I don't see much need or reason for park assist features (which anyone should know how to perpendicular or parallel park...the camera and alert sensors are more than enough for accurate parking), though I do like having the 360 sensors availble. Rest of the technology package is nice for making the car a bit smarter but alert aids is all I really like for improving accuracy. Blind Spot and Lane Keeping work much better than my Fusion's did. I will say the collision sensors sometimes get a little picky and freak out, but its easy to silence them when not needed.

It's nice to have factory ceramic tinted windows. I don't want mine any darker for the "cool look". Reason I went for this MKZ was the factit is one of the only cars I appreciate looking stock.

Dynamic Torque Vectoring...has spoiled me. Never again will I drive a FWD only car now. AWD systems is one thing but having torque vectoring makes it fun to challenge corners with higher speeds.

This car is fast and reliable off the line. Definitely sub 5 seconds in 0-60 and doing a personal timer test. Nears about 4.5 for me which is really good.

FORscan now works on the 2017s for those who seek OBII information. Overall the 2017 MKZ is nice and Revel Ultima is so good in sound quality even for poor quality music files. As I mentioned earlier, LED headlights give plenty of lighting width and range, along with looking cool!

Well that's pretty much it. There will be better improvements I may not think about at this moment but its a good feeling to like a car even if a better one comes along.

I've been parallel parking for more than 40 years, but I still use parking assist.....because it's neat stuff and I paid for it in my last 3 cars. Might as well use it. :)

Oh for certain people I'm sure it is a boon. I guess what I should say is I don't use it as I'm good maneuvering into necessary spots, as I find it quicker to do it myself. If the spot is too small, I rather find another spot further away than risk my car getting hit by another negligent person.

I do like having all the sensors around the car though. That alone is very helpful. Though its my first vehicle with automated parking aids. I just get weary about being close to the vehicles of others...I like my space and don't want to risk any door dings or bumper busters.

Do u kno if all Trims come with that? And is it the same as the "solar tint" that is listed for all trims? Would u possibly be able to take a couple pictures of the windows? I'm curious kno if i'll need to spend any money on slightly darker tint. Thanks

If I am by myself, I typically don't use park assist.  If certain other people are in the car who like to passenger seat drive and make unnecessary comments - I let park assist do it for me.   That way, I can;t be blamed for being too close to the curb, too far from the curb, not straight enough, etc, etc, etc.  :)

Good review, Zalvern!   I don't need the park assist either.    Personally, I would prefer to have the blind spot mirrors rather than BLIS, too.  I like seeing the actual car in my mirrors rather than a light.   However, there are things in the tech package that I do like so I would probably get it.

I would sure like to see an actual road test of a 3.0 conducted by one of the magazines.  I am very curious about 0-60 and quarter mile times.  Your estimate of being in the mid 4s is encouraging.  I would also love to know if and when Livernois will have a tune for the 3.0.

I would concur with Zalvern about the sub 5 0-60 time. I don't think it will peg at 4.5 but it should be an honest 4.8 - 4.9.

It does feel a bit soft coming off a dead stop (launch) but I imagine it is intended to be that way for the Lincoln brand. So as not to seem harsh on initial acceleration.

I was doing a little playing around and have noticed that there is a fairly significant difference in rear wheel power distribution between the "D" normal and "S" mode. In sport rear power split is proportions more quickly to the rear and a higher split ratio. It also holds rear drive power longer.

I would estimate that it changes from a 60/40 split to real close if not a complete 50/50 split

As for livernois, I need to email them back, I opened dialog after I ordered and need to pick it back up. They are only about a 30 min drive or so from me.

Schteve, please keep us informed about Livernois.   About a month ago, I asked Jamie if they had plans to tune the 3.0.  He informed me that their plans were confidential.  I have been a customer of Livernois for several years....first purchased a tunes and an SCT device and later upgraded to the MyCal.   I have been very complimentary of their tunes on a number of different forums so I found his response to be very irritating.    I have usually worked with Anthony so I should have asked him.    I have found Jamie's customer service skills and overall knowledge to be lacking.

Oh yes I may be a bit faster than the usual MKZ since I am running both Pilot Super Sports tires and ACES IV fuel formula. Even put a aFe High Flow drop in filter. So not quite exactly stock already, but a tune will greatly wake the performance side up. 4.8-4.9 is perhaps ideal on stock terms but definitely sub 5 which I'm happy for stock. Edited by Zalvern

I got the same treatment even though I have the car now. I could go tune the car but they (Livernois) will want 2-3 weeks. Not to mention I want ACES IV in my fuel all the time for its treatment benefits besides performance, even though Livernois doesn't like any fuel supplements ( even though I was able to run thier 100 octane drag tune on my Fusion like a daily tune, thanks to ACES IV) so can't vouch my MKZ as a stock baseline car anymore. They'll want to baseline with regular 93 pump gas and VPFuel race gas for thier dyno and street tunes. I'm just going to wait till it's availble.

It would be awesome if schteve can help &D contribute, since he also has 3.0T AWD w/Driver's Package. Livernois is wise and talented with Ecoboost technology, but set in their ways like an old physican is in medical practices.

They have made some very worthwhile improvements in the 2017 MKZ versus the 2016 model.  One thing, however, bugs me.   With the 2016s, there was an optional polished aluminum wheel that looked very rich and upscale.  Those wheels are no longer available.   The standard wheel for the Reserve is just painted aluminum and I think they look cheap.   I don't care much for the optional wheel for the Reserve, either.   The wheels that come with the Driver's package look good but they are not a stand alone option.  Strangely, when I was at the dealer checking out the MKZ, they had a 2017 Fusion with beautiful polished aluminum wheels - much nicer than the MKZ wheels, in my opinion.

I think the 18-inch wheel design for 2017 looks great, big improvement vs the 2016.

Stopped by my dealer to go over the final numbers (they had forgotten a private cash offer I had).

They straighten that out, no problem, Then I asked if they could check on the status of my car.

It just came in today!

I'm picking it up tomorrow after work.

Placed the order 5/27 delivered 8/4. I hope.

I talked with Jamie also, here is the lowdown i got.  He said there are a couple other projects they are working on.  first is the new 2.7tt fusion sport, then the 2.3 lincoln mkc, then they should be on the 3.0tt lincoln.

he said that the "EB" motors really respond well to tunes.  the 3.5 was 60-80 bump the 2.7 will be about a 50-60 bump and he anticipates the 3.0 to be somewhere in that ball park..  But from what he alluded to it will be a solid couple of moths before they have anything ready for the 3.0.

on the upside if you split the bump between the 2.7 and the 3.5 we should be looking at a solid 70 with a "standard" tune... with the 500 number not unrealistic with a few other mods and hotter tunes.

Well that is good to hear. Honestly I'm fine with waiting a couple of months, that'll give me time to change all my fluids to high quality to match the performance demands of a tune, plus its always good to get a good amount of mileage for the car to adjust. I'll tune once I get all my fluids converted from stock to BND Automotive's good stuff.

In regards to bolt on mods, if we're lucky for those interested, items made for the 2.7 Fusion Sport very well may direct fit into the MKZ. Though the only things I'm interested in really is cooling. A tune, improved cooling, and better exhaust flow are the big three that give Ecoboost technology engines a nice bang in power.

Now the MKZ is designed to handle a lot of power under high heat, but image what even more potential it'll gain with a bit lower temperatures yet retain its power demands. It'll be a serious dark horse on the road. The Caddies better watch out!

Got it home! Only drove it about 20 miles from dealership to home. Got on it a little while cruising about 50 mph, it was going past 90 before it knew it.

I know this isn't very technical but seat of the pants, it's sneaky fast, pulls very hard, very smooth power.

It was about 8:30 by the time I got home (don't know why it takes so long to deliver a new car).

Here are a couple quick pictures I'll take some better ones tomorrow,

I posted this in the engine topic but figured since this is where folk would look if they are considering ordering a new MKZ.

a small piece of advice... if you can swing getting the summer tire package (and complementary set of winter tires if you live in northern climates) ESPECIALLY with the 3.0... DO IT.   I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and from a dead stop with aggressive power application, the car will still kick in the traction nanny (yes it makes the tires spin/slip even in sport mode and with driver package) so sticker tires for summer and winter would be highly recommended from my perspective.

I am considering a set of summers starting next spring and will evaluate the stock AS over this winter to see if i need both.
