2017 MKZ orders

Recommended Posts

I've been randomly entering 3.0T VINs from dealer orders I see on Cars.com into the

Fordetis website and I see build dates all the way from late May to now.

I see that none of these cars have made it to any of the dealers yet.

I've also done the inventory search on the Lincoln website and all the 3.0T models

show "dealer ordered" which means they don't have the cars yet.

I check almost everyday to see if any cars have shown up at any dealers, none that I have found so far.

I've been doing a similar search on any Black Label models. I see many dealers have them in their inventories as "on order," but none have shown up yet as "in stock."

I guess at least we know nobody, even dealers are getting cars yet. I'm hoping mine will be here in August, but that may be optimistic since all I have is a VIN, no build date yet.

All four dealers closest to me have some in stock--I've actually been by and seen them on the lot. In fact, the dealer I ordered from has already sold three 2017s. I just haven't seen a single dealer (anywhere) with any 3.0L engines or Black Label trims in stock. You think Lincoln is purposely delaying these?

Look at www.crestlincoln.com. They show 133 (2017-Model) MKZs in their inventory. They're all still "on order." Only three are actually in stock. So they're slowly making their way places.

Grey.. any word on yours being shipped?

I talked to the Lincoln concierge yesterday and was told my car should arrive between mid July/beginning of August. I specifically asked if it has been shipped and he wouldn't / couldn't tell me. Like anything it depends on who you talk too, some are more forth coming than others. I will try my dealer later this week.

I checked with concierge also and mine is "awaiting shipment" I have to wonder if ford / Lincoln is holding them to arrive in August for some odd reason? It would seem to be counter intuitive since 2.0t and hybrids have been arriving. But based on what I have dug up ... Seems as though a LOT of folks and based on my random/unscientific approach and check random dealerships around the US. There are exactly ZERO 3.0t's in stock anywhere. And I have yet to hear of one person getting one in their hot little hands on one.

In addition you would think they would not want these things sitting not making money. Somewhat baffling..

Yea, that's kinda what I was alluding to earlier. Many dealerships have between a dozen and a hundred "on order." I've looked at inventories across the country, the only ones "in stock" are 2.0 and hybrids. And on top of that, only premier, select, and reserve trims...no Black Label. It also seems odd to me that these specific ones are seemingly delayed.

I asked my dealer why the Black Label models were marked "Late Availability." If that's Lincoln's most definitive, premium, and feature-rich version of the car (and the one used in most auto shows), why would they not want them diaplayed in showrooms right away? I don't get it. He really had no answer, except that in 2015 and 2016 all the Black Label models typically showed up a few months later than the lower trims. But they knew no specific reason why.

I'm not sure if this will work but I will try to attach a window sticker of 3.0 my dealer has (or has ordered, not sure if it is in yet).  If this attachment does not work I don't know any other way of showing it.

Let me know if it is showing all my files from my personal library.  I don't want that of course and will have to delete if I can.  Thanks.

Just joined up with this forum after wondering if there was some kinda of MKZ ownership community. Pretty small here but I like how niche the MKZ is! It's such an underrated vehicle.

Annnyways, going to chime in that the 3.0T MKZ are expected this week. I say that because my order went out for delivery last week via rail. I am expecting a 3.0T AWD Black Label w/Diamond Black Metallic and Vineyard interior. Options wise, its got everything but the Panoramic Roof (don't care for it). The southern dealerships should definitely start showing off any models tomorrow once they find the 3.0T MKZs are on truck delivery. Being a bit up north, I may see mine mid to end of the week.

Coming from a 2014 Ford Fusion...I am happy to bask in what this car is expected to offer.

Black Label was waiting on when Lincoln could release the first batch of 3.0T engine MKZs for sale. I ordered way back as soon it was possible, car was finish being built in May and just waiting on EPA clearance and whatnot. Looks like they finally got the green light to release these fancy beasts last week!

Zalvern,

So Lincoln was "holding up" the 3.0 engines? Did anyone confirm why they did that? Like you, I ordered mine the first week the very order banks opened.

(Black Label Hybrid, Diamond Black Metallic, Thoroughbred Theme, Panoramic Roof, Technology Package, Climate Package.) I didn't even order a 3.0 engine, and I'm STILL waiting on delivery. So, I'm wondering if Black Label trims have also been "held up." The dealership said it's been built and should have been on their lot two weeks ago. So I wonder if I have hope for delivery this week...like you. I sure hope so...

As to why the 3.0L was being delayed, I don't know either. Another forum speculation was something with the EPA on the new engines for both 3.0L MKZs and 2.7L Fusion Sports, as both are on the same release schedule. Black Label was held back due to 3.0L engines being on hold. My dealership also told me at first the car would of arrived before the end of June.

If you have your VIN, go contact one of the Lincoln Concierge through live chat and I'm sure they'll let you know if its on the rail train. If it is, you should see it this week.

Interesting...I'm still trying to wrap my head around why Lincoln would delay Black Label because of the 3.0 engine. There are other engine choices, like the hybrid, in my case. Makes no sense to me. But my fingers are crossed.

Goodness knows what thier reasons actually are. I can speculate:

Possibly a tactic to try and off any 2016 Black Labels for those who can't afford to wait or want cheaper. Some do not research on thier own what the latest and upcoming is. Savvy buyers are few and far in between, as income is not tied to intelligence always.

All manufacturers do this when the time comes that old stocked cars are getting phased out, especially by a mild to heavy redesign year. Time releases so "dealership lot shoppers" help clear out older stock.

Interesting theory. I don't know all the ins and outs of the business, but I've always thought that dealerships operated like franchises. Once a manufacturer sends them cars, the manufacturer got its money, and it was up to the dealership to make sales and turn a profit. So if that's true, it would seem the "hold up" is on the part of dealers and not Lincoln itself. Especially for folks like you and me, who special ordered, and are ready to make the purchase. I wish there was transparency...

There are all sorts of reasons for holds and they rarely make them public. Sometimes, it for parts, sometimes quality concerns, etc.  Anything you read on the Internet about it holds carries about as much weight as anything else you read on the Internet which is to say, next to nothing.  Unless the source is verifiable, it's meaningless.  Some of you may recall the disastrous launch of the  MKZ. There was a hold for some reason.  There was plenty of speculation as to the reason; never any certainty.

Who even knows if there's an actual hold?  Lincoln said the 3.0 would be available Summer of 2016.  It's still the summer of 2016.

Not possible.  A dealer cannot and would not hold up a car. Only the factory can do that.  What would be in it for them?  They're dependent on the factory to build it and the shipper to deliver it.  Cars sometimes sit on ramps for weeks waiting for a hold to be lifted.  What do you expect a dealer to do?

Have you gotten your VIN from the sales manager yet?

No they didn't. I asked and as is usual for concierge (some more helpful thAn others). He said they did not give out rail car info. So I will get a hold of my dealer and see if I can get them to give it to me

I'm just happy its on rail. My only worry was a similar launch the 2013 MKZs suffered. Though Lincoln wanted to ensure quality, which is something I prefer and gladly will wait for.

How long it takes to deliever, will of course depend on distance from Hermosillo. Can expect southern states like Texas to get orders delievered first.

But hey, exciting time nevertheless!

I just checked and mine is in transit also! I also live in Ohio, so we might be on the same train.
