LQ1906
Hi Everyone I just recently leased a 2016 Lincoln Mkz FWD with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. The window sticker shows a 22/32 city hwy and a combination of 26. However I'm nowhere near that number as I'm currently filling up every several days. My mpg is 15.2/15.3 mpg. Those to me are SUV numbers like a Navigator or Escalade and this is with the 4cyl. I'm almost 3000 miles in and I've only had the car a little over a month so I would figure at this point the car is broken in. I called Lincoln Service at my dealer and he told me it needed to be broken in but this was at 500 miles....Am I in for a big disappointment. My MKS that I traded in to get this averaged 19 mpg city/hwy and that was with a v6 and much heavier vehicle. Love my car but this is disappointing to say the least? Anyone else experience this and what recourse do I have?
R2D2
I believe my 2013 MKZ was getting about 26 mpg average with the 2.0 Turbo ecoboost engine before it was traded in so yours does seem low. I would definitely recontact the dealer about this and have them look at the engine codes for a trouble point.
ozman212
I'm actually getting the same horrible numbers on my MKZ as well. But since I don't even have 1,000 miles, I think it's just the same as with my old Ford Escape, these engines with the turbo have to be broken in first before you start to see an improvement with gas mileage. After I had hit over 1,000 miles with my Escape, mileage improved alot. So I wouldn't worry so much right now, start to worry if nothing happens over 1,000 miles.
LQ1906
Well I'm well past the 1,000 mile mark if you saw my first post. I'm at 3,000 and the mpg is still what i had when i bought the car. 15.2 and it went to 15.3mpg. Filling up every 2-3 days is not fun or cool. I would have gotten the 3.7v6 for that matter. It's pissing me off big time too.
Davisjl
Is it in sports mode? I'm not sure how the non-hybrids are setup, but in the hybrid you have a setting in the computer for Sports or Normal mode. In sports mode I get horrid MPG... not sure if the standard engine has that option or not. BTW, if you're filling up every several days (a assume 3 days since that is what several typically means), then you're averaging around 90 miles per day. At that consumption you're only going to buy yourself 1 or 2 days more if you can reach the 26 mpg on the sticker. Regardless, I would expect a higher number than 15 unless you're heavy footed and the turbo is kicking in a lot. Take it to the dealer and have them look into it. If it's only at 3k, they should be willing to jump through hoops for you. Edited May 11, 2016 by Davisjl
LQ1906
I drive it in normal mode and yes it does have the sports mode but I don't keep it there. I use it here and there. When I fill up it only has a range of 200 and something and it seems like the moment I start driving it the hand starts moving so by the end of a day it may have 50-60 miles and its' already at just under 3/4 tank of gas by day 2 under half going to the and by day 3-4 empty....... LQ1906
So I get my car back from Lincoln and they have no answer as to why I'm getting such bad gas mileage. I'm at nearly 4,000 miles which I know is alot in only two months and they tell me that the vehicle is still learning my driving habits and to give it to 5K miles and it should be broken in by then.. Im currently at 15.7mpg....I feel that that's a crock of b.s. What's the purpose of having a 4 cylinder if im getting v8 gas mileage. Even my previous MKS did better at 17.9mpg. ozman212
Honestly that is b.s. My previous vehicle was a 2013 Escape and it had the same 2.0 engine I have now and I was getting 17.9 mpg. I understand that the mkz is a longer vehicle, but I would assume by being a car and more aerodynamic that it should get the same or better mpg. Right now Im at 16.7 mpg and I have 1100 miles. So I think Im going to be in the same boat as you. Edited June 1, 2016 by ozman212
rundlc
I'm new to the forum. We bought a used 16 model, it was a rental and is well broke in. I sure hope mileage is not that bad!! My DW drove a acura tl prior to this car and it was a gas hog. We opted for the mkz based on the 4 cylinder eco-boost. I have only 5 days to turn it in for something else. Please tell me this car isn't a bust, my wife really likes it.
2013MKZ
Wow! I am at 15k miles and average 19.2mpg (95% city/5% highway) untuned and 20.4 tuned with the same driving mix. There has to be something wrong...
