Bike rack for current gen

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a bike rack on the current gen?  I have a 2013 and am possibly looking to get one.  I had an LS before and I was told not to get one because it had an aluminum trunk lid.  Is that the same case with the MKZ?  Should I avoid it?

This is what I use--and it fits most vehicles. The hooks go around the edges of the trunk lid, while still allowing it to close. And every place that touches the surface of the car is covered in a thick padding to prevent scratching.

Do you have issues with your trunk starting to beep and want to auto close while you are mounting or unmounting the bike rack?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the bike rack on or off of the car without having the trunk want to go down automatically.  I am afraid that I am going to do damage to the car while trying to put it on, or take it off, because its a challenge to get the trunk lid to stay up.  I have never had this issue on any other car that I have owned.

You probably haven't had a car with a power deck lid before, thus you haven't had the issue with any other car.

Why don't you just disable the power trunk lid with the information display menu when you want to install or remove the bike rack?  See your owner's manual under Information Displays.
