LincolnCurious
Hello all! I joined the forum to get some honest advice and info on the MKZ Hybrid. I am due for a new(used) vehicle. My commute is 32 miles +/- each way 5 days a week. I have two routes that I take depending on time, traffic, weather and mood. The shorter route is 29 miles and consists of county roads for the most part with speed limits of 35-50 mph. The other route has 12 miles of county roads with a 45mph speed limit and 20 miles of freeway with a speed limit of 70mph. Although the shorter route takes an average of 9 minutes longer, I prefer it to the freeway as the freeway route is a very busy stretch, prone to accidents, stoppages, and aggressive driving. My Mountaineer averages only 14mpg(5.0liter engine) and I want to minimize my gas use yet have a smooth and comfortable ride. I have had a Prius in the past which I enjoyed, but wouldn't say that it had a smooth and comfortable ride. My budget is right around $16k which in this area can get me a 2012 MKZh with around 57k miles, or a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE with around 40-45k miles. Wondering if anyone can give me information on the differences and advantages between the 2012 year and the 2013 models. I know there is a lot more experience out there with the drivetrain of the 2012 versions and the 2013 had a few hiccups at first, hoping for some insight. Thanks for any responses! :)
LincolnCurious
Also, a friend of mine had a late model Lincoln recently and he found that replacement parts were very high priced. Don't know if this was just the particular parts that he needed, suspension/front end parts I believe, or if I can expect to pay much more for any part that a MKZ may require. Thanks again for the input!
