GQSmooth00
Good Evening Everyone, I did not see a topic on this but my apologies in advance if someone has already answered this question. I have a 2013 MKZ, and I my daughter accidentally dropped two quarters behind the Front Storage bin on my center console. This has caused the retractable lid to become unable to retract completely as the lid is hitting the quarters standing up behind the bin. Does anyone know if there is a way to remove these coins with out taking it to the dealer? My daughter is only 5 and while I am hoping to never have this situation happen again if it does I would like to know if I can fix this myself with out wasting time at the dealer. Thank you, GQ
drolds1
I'm afraid the console is going to have to be disassembled to get at the quarters. If you're willing to try this yourself, I can post the directions. It requires an automotive plastic trim removal tool. If you're not comfortable with attempting this or don't have the time, you're better off paying for it. If it closes but just doesn't open fully, I might just forget about it. riff raff
@drolds1 - I'd like to see those directions. I need to fit a phone mount spot and removing some of the trim around the console is going to be necessary (I have a Pro-Clip holster but use my own mount). riff raff
Wow, thank you, I'm glad that I asked - that is a lot of pry points! I have a set of the tools, but not sure I have the stones to pry all of those fasteners. I came up with a phone mount solution today, but I'm not sure that I'm happy with it long term. At least I know what I'm in for.
drolds1
You're welcome. You might not need to take everything off. Based on my experience changing the cabin filter, it' s probably easier than it looks. Those plastic clips (shown in purple) pop off pretty easily.
