Tyler Martel
Hello, I have a 2009 Lincoln Mkz Awd. I need to replace my sunroof and can't afford to bring it to the dealership. I have been trying to look all over the web and called multiple ford dealers and lincoln the company looking for some sort of diagram or step by step process to do this. I am not professional but believe if I took my time I could do this. if anyone has had ANY experience with this please send over any info to help send me in the right direction. I'm assuming the headliner needs to come down, what's the best easiest way to do this???
drolds1
Yes, the headliner has to come down. Here are some tips from a former Ford tech who posts on the Ford Fusion Forum. What's wrong with yours that it needs replacement? Also, you might be able to find a local shop to do the work for less than the dealer wants. Tyler Martel
Well I had a small leak while i had my car in flordia, we were getting a bunch of rain so a small leak actually ended up soaking the headliner at the top and bottom of pillar a, mostly on the passanger side but on the driver side lightly as well. Keep in mind the actual sunroof was working absolutely fine!! So I brought it in to ford and they told me it was the gasket around the sunroof they cpuld fix it blah blah blah. Well i got it back and yeah they did fix the gasket and leak but did a horrible job doing so. very unprofessional service and looking job. Well when i pick it up they tell me i cant open my sunroof anymore?! while driving over 70mph the sunroof opens on its own now and if i tilt it, it will not close on its own i have to get out of the car and push the glass down in order to seal. it will only tilt i cannot open the sunroof. such a pain!!! drolds1
What kind of repair was it if you can't use your moonroof anymore? You could have done that yourself with duct tape.Did you pay them for that?
