jimflutes
Just curious to see how a thin strip along the crease would look. Jim

SteveB_TX
I have thought about having a pin stripe painted on, but I just don't seem to find the time to get it done. Same with having the lower plastic cladding painted to match the charcoal black rear section, and the roof painted gloss black to match that little glossy black thing on the trunk. Some day. Some day. :)
jimflutes
Steve, Since I have made up my mind not to get the"redone" 17 Z ,I can look for ways to improve my 13. As always you have given me some good ideas,I am intrigue with the gloss black roof idea. I think it would look great since my car is silver. I will search for a photo of this on the web. I am not sold on the pinstripe idea yet. Jim
SteveB_TX
I agree Jim... no '17 for me either. I got the idea for the gloss black roof from a poster on the Fusion Hybrid forums that had his roof blacked out with that gloss black wrap stuff. Looked good. :) I may go the wrap route if I can find a place that does it within 100 or so miles from me. No one around my little town does wrap. :(
drolds1
I am not sold on the pinstripe idea yet. Jim IMO, the MKZ doesn't lend itself to pinstripes. Back in the day, I used to have all my new cars pinstriped by one of the top guys in the tri-state (NY) area. The styling of those cars was enhanced by pinstripes. I think it's passe now. Of course, that's my .02.
jimflutes
OK , This is how my silver Z would look with the top black. So what is the difference between black paint or black wrap? I am leaning toward black paint.
jimflutes
So this how my Z would look with black top ,I like this look. What would be better black paint or wrap? I am leaning toward paint.
drolds1
Paint is permanent. Wrap is not. If you decide you don't like it, you can remove it. Not so much with paint. If resale is a factor and a prospective buyer doesn't like it, again, you can remove it. Original paint is a factor in a car's resale value. It's probably cheaper and you won't have to wax that part of the car either.
jimflutes
drolds1, I just researched the color wrapping on line,it looks great. So I called the place that put the clear bra on my Z (3 yrs. it's still perfect),they said that the color wraps is their expertise! They just did this on a new Jag. This is a wonderful idea, like you said ,if you don't like it or when you sell , just peel it off . I had no idea how great these wraps look. I have more fun on this forum because of folks like you and Steve and the other Z owners. I have to measure the roof space and call them back,I am thinking of the gloss black to go with the black plastic trim. Thank you all for these great ideas.
