Im wondering if anyone can tell me why my a/c is always on when I start the car, if so what can I do to remedy this issue. Thanks to all who are able to help. Does it blow cold air instead of hot or is is just 'on?' It's automatic climate control so it is supposed to on all the time until you disengage it. I had a battery going bad enough the hcm would lose power on starting, everything else would be fine, but the a/c would default to 75 degrees/full auto aand the temperature out here usually means to get to 75 you need air conditioning. 2010 mkz. just a guess, we'll have to see if he writes back Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
willy j Posted January 17, 2016 Author Share Posted January 17, 2016 Hey fellas, I first want to apologize for not replying, actually, all this time since my post ive been checking for replies and started wondering if there was anyone out there till this morning I started navigating the site and thats when I realized that i was going about it all wrong. Thanks for correcting my post, ill be more aware from now on. Thanks again. To elaborate further, every time I start the car I have to turn my a/c off. Its really not a big deal but I was wondering how to correct it. I did not get a manual for the car when I bought it. I appreciate all your help and advice. drolds1 Posted January 17, 2016 Share Posted January 17, 2016 It's still not clear to me what's happening. If you leave the DATC on and you start the car the system is supposed to be on. It will produce heat or A/C depending on the ambient temp. Of course, the car has to warm up sufficiently in order to produce heat. The A/C light may or may not come on depending on when your car was built. It's basically a set and forget it system when operating properly. It will maintain the set temperature year round. I am referring to the ac button that illuminates when activated. Up until today ive had to physically turn off the button every time I started my car. Today for the first time I did not have to do that. I understand everything youve explained to me. Everything works just fine as far as heat and air goes, I was just wondering what I could do to correct the "auto" control. I really appreciate your time once again. Thank you. You really don't have to do anything. That's the purpose of ACC. The A/C light wasn't on this a.m. probably due to the ambient air temp. The compressor won't run below a certain ambient temp. The light comes on when the compressor's running. The ACC works differently from manual systems you may be used to. It blends warm and cool air to maintain set temp. It uses the compressor to do that. Note also that the compressor will engage when you put the front defroster on. It sounds like everything's working just fine on yours.
