Dennis
I'm basically lazy and hate a lot of hand rubbing..So to get a nicely sealed finish with a brillant shine that looks like I spent all day polishing, I use this stuff ...contains Carnauba...Easy on easy off, no muss or fuss..but excellent for the finish.. Always, Always, Always use a Micro-fiber towel..either when you wash or polish. Edited September 5, 2011 by Dennis
robertlane
Good tip on the microfiber. Have your tried Zaino? 2015mkzhybrid
Dennis
I have used almost everything on the market...the problem with those pastes waxes is that they leave a white residue on all the black parts and under the rubber edges..a real beotch to remove once it drys..So now I use the above product to prevent any extra work and it looks and works just as good as those high dollar waxes, without all the powdery residue and staining of the black parts. thatgirlismine
Hi can I ask how you removed the white residue from the black rubber stripping after it had dried on? I'm trying to clean it off of mine and it's not coming off.
robertlane
At Shelby, we use a quick detailer by Mothers. It cleans the body panels, interior, glass, etc. Whatever it is, it rocks.
Dennis
Hi can I ask how you removed the white residue from the black rubber stripping after it had dried on? I'm trying to clean it off of mine and it's not coming off. I think I remember using Rubbing Alcohol and a tooth brush...Then follow up and use regularly with this on all your vinyl and rubber http://www.lexolasia.com/aboutvinylex.html

KenZ
Try peanut butter and a tooth brush. Works great! Hmmmm..... Crunchy or creamy? :clapping: I have a tuxedo black, anybody have any good experience with products for hiding small scratches?
drolds1
Hmmmm..... Crunchy or creamy? :clapping: I have a tuxedo black, anybody have any good experience with products for hiding small scratches? That's the problem with black. I had two black cars. Never again. What method do you use for washing? Commercial car washes are notorious for this. There are products that advertise scratch hiding capability but the effect is temporary. They wear off or wash off fairly quickly. The right way is to have a professional detailer use compound and a buffing machine.
Rusty Boltz
I NEVER take my black MKZ to a commercial car wash. I use a "scratch & swirl remover" once a year, and a detailer made especially for black cars about once a month.
2015mkzhybrid
As mentioned in this thread, I too use Zaino. It's not that cheap, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for... My MKZ will be a Zaino car...
jimflutes
Have you ever of heard of Optiumn opti-coat 2.0. I put this on my 2007 honda three years ago and never had to wax it again , when I brought the 2013 MKZh , I put it on , that was two years ago , the paint looks brand new like it was just waxed. This puts a second coat of clear coat on the car , it may last five years just with washing , the water beads up and it shines like it was just waxed.. I was big on a lot of different sythnthic waxes , but after this I do not have wax again. It is expensive ( 69.00 will do two cars ) , but it is the best I have used in the last twenty years of using all kinds of claying and waxing products. Rusty Boltz
Update to my previous post: I now use Turtle Wax wax and detailer for black cars on my MKZ. Works great! I have another car that's red. I use Turtle Wax Ice and detailer on it, and it works great too.
BlackPano
I also use turtle wax ice products for my cars. I like that it does not leave white residue on the plastic components. I can vouch for the power of peanut butter. It does help trim as well as any carbon fiber components. I assume it is the oils in PB that help? Paul S
Does anyone have any comments on the the product called Liquid Glass? I know it cost more than the above average wax.
bdegrand
Does anyone have any comments on the the product called Liquid Glass? I know it cost more than the above average wax. I used to use Liquid Glass on my cars until I noticed it left fine spider web marks/swirls on my black Taurus. I discovered it has a mild cleaner in it. I stopped buying it after that! I now ONLY use Meguiar's Gold Class Carnauba Plus Paste Wax.....it has no cleaners to scratch your car. Wal-Mart sells it for about $11. Always use micro fibre towels with waxing.
