The new Lincoln MKZ is designed to appeal to those who are looking for something different in the luxury market. From the placement of technology features such as the push-button gear shift to reimagined interior spaces including the floating center console, drivers can relish in discovering an unexpected experience based on intelligent function and beautiful form that offers, above all, an enjoyable drive.

 

The Lincoln Experience is brought to life through the available Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter GTDI V6 engine, as well as intangible elements like the quiet cabin provided by the Active Noise Control system.

The new Lincoln MKZ is designed to make the drive easier and more enjoyable. Available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality automatically can slow the car, resuming higher speeds when traffic clears. The system activates the brakes automatically to bring the car to a complete stop if the driver fails to apply brakes in time [1].

An auto hold feature keeps the car at a complete stop without the driver having to press and hold the brake pedal – making stop-and-go driving more relaxing for MKZ owners.

 

Available enhanced park assist uses ultrasonic sensors to help Lincoln MKZ seamlessly steer itself into a parallel or perpendicular parking spot. The car can assist with park-out as needed [1].

Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection is an available technology that can help avoid some frontal crashes [1], or lessen the severity of such events.

An all-new, Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter GTDI V6 leads available engine choices for the new Lincoln MKZ. When paired with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the twin-turbocharged engine produces 400 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque [2,3] for effortless performance and refinement.

 

Dynamic Torque Vectoring [4], part of an available Driver’s Package for MKZ with the 3.0-liter engine, enhances cornering agility without compromising ride comfort, helping drivers enjoy a smooth, seamless experience.

The new Lincoln MKZ provides a hybrid alternative as well; and a 2.0-liter GTDI, 245-horsepower [2] four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive.

 

Available Lincoln Drive Control allows drivers to adjust among three drive modes – comfort, normal and sport. The system includes continuously controlled damping, and electric power-assisted steering to provide comfortable, confident handling.

 

The Driver’s Package for Lincoln MKZ with 3.0-liter V6 also includes 19-inch wheels, Ebony-painted calipers, light Magnetic-painted grille, Ebony interior with carbon fiber appliqués, customizable multi-contour seats and aluminum pedal covers. In addition, the package features retuned continuously controlled damping and suspension for enhanced driving dynamics.

The new face of Lincoln is highlighted by available adaptive LED headlamps that help deliver cleaner, clearer lighting for drivers, complemented by the all-new one-piece Lincoln signature grille.

Inside, engineers paid particular attention to the sound and feel of new switches and dials that replace slider adjustments for easier control of ventilation and audio functions for new Lincoln MKZ customers. Commonly used buttons and USB ports are now even easier to access.

 

Two all-new Lincoln Black Label themes, Chalet and Vineyard, as well as Thoroughbred, deliver desired uniqueness and options paired with luxurious materials. Lincoln MKZ’s available fully retractable panoramic glass roof offers the largest open-air roof among sedans. [5]

 

The new Lincoln MKZ goes on sale in summer 2016.

Well I am going to have to see this in person before I judge it. On first look I am not pleased. The 13 - 16 Zs rounded front end worked with the swept back rear end. I do not see this front end working with 13 - 16 Z rear end. They would of had to rounded out the back end to make this work , but then you would have a Jaguar clone.  I do like the interior upgrades , and it looks like they raised the consoles arm rest , which was a pet peeve of mine. I thought they were moving ahead with the futuristic design of the 13 - 16 Z , but this looks like a step back in time . This front end will work with the Continental , I do not see it working on the MKZ. What you ended up with is a smaller version of the Continental , instead of a separate idea that would give each car it's own identity. Jim

I would like to replace my 2013 also. After looking at the other hybrids in this class , Avalon , Lexis , this 2017 Zh is still better looking. I am disappointed that they did not continue to evolve  the futuristic style that they started out with. So now it looks like a Jaguar with a MKZ back end , that's not so bad after all , and the interior is much better , still I have to see one to make up my mind. Hey you can always go with a 2016 .  Jim

jholmes  , I agree with you . This "refresh" has no imagination whatsoever. I am very disappointed that they did not have the guts to evolve the design that they started with the 2013 Z. Like I stated the inside has been improved and continental looks fine as a conservative Lincoln , but like you said , they had a distinctive looking model apart from the rest of the Lincoln/Ford cars. Now we have to take a breath and lets see what this car looks like in person .  Jim

My wow comment was not one of really like, but rather of the drastic change.

 

I've always been of the opinion that Lincoln should establish a front grill design. It could evolve but not totally go away. The other luxury brands do this.

 

Now we have Jaguar Jr. Oh well, just when the world was falling in love with the current split grill......... :(

Joe , yes your Wow is right on about the change. So when a big change occurs it does take time to digest it and not be negative. This design is not what I would have liked to see in my imagination , but looking at it now for a couple of days , I feel an acceptance coming over me  and so I am trying to look at it in a more positive way.  Over the last couple of months reading about the refresh , I really wanted to like the new look , mainly because I enjoy my present model. Like I said if you put this up against any of the other auto company's hybrid models in this class, this MKZ still has a better looking exterior , and I like the interior changes.  Jim

My biggest complaint about the front end is that Lincoln has a history of iconic design themes and they've gone a completely different way. In my 20s I bought a 66 Continental just because of the look. You can see the lineage even though one is huge, blocky, and stoic whereas the MKZ is aero and swept. but there is a line that goes from one to the other. 

 

On this update, I don't get any sensation of Lincoln beyond wallpapering the grille with the shape of the logo. Kia could do that. 

 

To me if you're going to go to the center section grille on a Lincoln, it needs to hearken back to the Marks of the late 60s and 70s with the bold center piece, rather than  stealing the Jaguar style. 

 

Lincoln has enough styling DNA in their own history - there's no need to borrow another marque's look.

I go back and forth with this , on one picture I like it , the next I don't. The thing is that I do not see a big improvement over the winged grill . Now for the non hybrid owners I see the bigger engines as a big improvement , but us hybrid owners it is more the looks of the car. I noticed that they have a chrome strip along  the bottom of the back plastic part of the bumper that looks good , also they will have some new colors to choose from. I agree with Davisji that I can live with the exterior changes , but will make my mind when seen in person. Jim

I ordered a 2016 MKZ Hybrid which is scheduled for delivery middle of December.

Do I wait for the 2017? Don't see too many changes and don't know when they will be at the dealerships. 

I like the grille on the 2016. The interior may sway me.

What will happen if you don't take delivery of the 2016?  Did you arrange this in advance with your dealer?  If not, they can keep your deposit until they sell the car you ordered.  As of now, the 2017s are scheduled to go on sale in the summer of 2016 but we can all remember what happened with the launch of the 2013s. Are you prepared to wait that long or potentially even longer?

Darwin , Yes the interior, I do like the interior upgrades also , and this 17z will have the new sync system , and of course the center console finally gets a real armrest (my pet nitpick) , also new colors to choose from. I am in no rush , I will have to see and drive one , or I may end up with a 16zh model also.  Jim
