Dennis
The only problem (maybe not) I can find to concern myself with on my new MKZ, is the Moon-Roof. When it is fully closed (and yes I did go through the OM and all the possible positions)..The problem seems to me is that the rear edge of the glass (the rubber edge around it) doesn't seem to fit flush with the roof..This is again only in the rear, the front edge fits flush with the roof....it seems when it comes to it's park or fully closed position it pops up a hair, making it stand just a quarter's thickness above the roof line...I hope I explained it well enough.. I was able to find some helpful instructions on the Moonroof adjusment and so I posted them here in case anyone else is wanting to adjust theirs: MOONROOF ADJUSTMENT SPECS: The correct position of the roof opening panel glass to the roof line should be -1.50 mm to 0 mm (-0.059 to 0 in) at the front edge and 0 mm to 1.5 mm (0 to 0.059 in) at the rear edge of the roof panel. To adjust closer to “0”. 1. Open the roof glass panel to the VENT position 2. Unclip the top portion of the concertina blind and hold down out of the way to access four screws as shown below 3. Close the roof panel glass. 4. Make sure the glass panel is centered in the roof opening. 5. Loosen the four torx/8mm screws holding the glass (two on each side) 6. Adjust the roof panel glass to be flush with roof. 7. Retighten the 4 roof panel glass screws to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). Here is a picture of the concertina blind. It should pop off at the top edge of glass, then you can see the screws. 8. Once you loosen the screws, push the glass up or down to flush it with the roof line were you want it and retighten the screws to (53 in lbs.) 9. Open to vent position again and then Reattach the concertina blind making sure that it is fully seated in the roof panel glass. ctrcbob
Great information, however I would not do that myself. I would just print that information and take it to my dealer and let them do the adjustment under warranty.
Dennis
That's all well and good if you are incapable of doing it yourself..But I like to do things myself if I am able..In this case with the moonroof, the fix was quite simple and I know it was done right..I shudder to think that a dirty knee'd tech was climbing all over my seats and possibly gouge the leather with a screwdriver he may have had in his back pocket..(Been there, done that)..So now, unless I am totally lost as to fixing the repair, I do all my own work..including oil and fluid changes...This also gives me a chance to explore the car and find any issues before they become a major problem. AndrewMKZ
I know it was done right.. Understood Dennis! Sometimes the dealership will mask the problem! I shudder to think that a dirty knee'd tech was climbing all over my seats and possibly gouge the leather with a screwdriver he may have had in his back pocket. I think most people have at least come close to that.
