jjcousin Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Hi all! I'm a potential buyer of a new / used car and I like the challenge of getting great gas mileage. I am looking at the Fusion Hybrid compared with the MKZ Hybrid. I am concerned with price first, then options - I'd hate to give up my Altima's PB start feature). I am completely enthralled by the looks of the MKZ, and, of course, the features, etc. Since (I think) the drivetrain is pretty much the same...it all comes down to price and features. SOoooo...comparing a NEW FUSION ($24+-$25+) with a USED (2013 or 2014 certified pre-owned) MKZ... $23+...$29+....why SHOULDN'T I JUST go with the MKZ??? I tend to put a good number of miles on my cars (35miles one way mostly highway each day to work) and I have no real qualms against a used car at this point...) Thoughts please!! JAWMKZ Posted November 10, 2015 Share Posted November 10, 2015 As an MKZ H owner, I would advise paying the extra money to step up into something nicer than the Fusion. Both great cars, both great mpg, but the MKZ offers some really nice features the Fusion does not. CPO is key too, the added warranty helps with the piece of mind down the road. My budget allows for either a 2012 or a 2013 model with 35-60k miles depending on model and features. The comfort factor of the MKZh has me leaning towards the Lincoln, but I am concerned with repair costs in the future being higher on the Lincoln than the Ford. Considering the Lincoln shares a lot of parts and mechanical features with the Fusion, the repair costs technically shouldn't be much higher. They both share the same hybrid powertrain and platform. Also the limited/bumper-to-bumper warranty on the Lincoln is a year longer (4yrs vs 3yrs on the Ford), so if you found a late 2013 or 2014 model, you'll more than likely still have a limited warranty on it where if anything were to fail, down to the stitching on the leather, it would be covered.
