Bob Teddy
Anyone have details on this? I like the sound system, but I want more out of mine. Do you think changing the speakers will do this alone, or will I need to replace the amp as well? Anyone know how many speakers/sub or what sizes I will need? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you! -Mike

Davisjl
Do some research, I think if you change the speakers/amps out you may have issues concerning the3 Bose noise cancelling... Edited October 1, 2015 by Davisjl
Bob Teddy
Im just looking for what speakers to replace the ones in my current car and where they are located at.... Like in particular my subwoofer, what can I replace that with and where is it located at?
SteveB_TX
The subwoofers are located in the rear package tray (the shelf beneath the rear window. The THX system uses two 6X9 woofers as the subwoofers. Strange but true.
Bob Teddy
Thanks Steve, going to take it apart tonight and start looking At the best possible replacements for it
Bob Teddy
On a side note, would running a small sub and amp seperatley be a wiser choice?
Bob Teddy
I took apart the back and accessed the 3 speakers on the rear deck. After unplugging both 6x9's I can say that I feel like that is not what they are using as the subwoofers because there was minimal change to my speaker sound/bass. Does the car have a seperate amp for bass speakers, are we sure they are it? I just want to make sure Im replacing those two speakers with kicker 6x9's vs a rockford fosgate 6x9..... Witz39
The rear deck six by nines are the woofers only low-frequency goes to those speakers I use Dateline out converter tapped into both of those rear channels and added to 12 inch Pioneers in a vented box and a 900 watt amp sounds excellent put Pioneer 4-way 6 by nines in the rear deck and kicker 6 & a half and all four doors sounds way louder and way clearer
Peter Vandermat
With the 6x9"s in the rear deck, do they now output all frequencies, or still just low frequencies?
tuminatr
FYI the factory 6X9 woofers/ sub woofers are actually very good and they are 2ohm speakers so I would bet the Rockfords you bought are 4ohm this wont hurt anything but the rockfords will play at a noticibly lower volume. The only ones I have seen is CDT makes some 6x9 2ohm subwoofers and they look good quality. http://www.cdtaudio.com/2ohm.htm this is a tough system to mess with but not impossible I switched out the tweeters for a set of JBL's
