Where Are The 2013 MKZ's?

I can hear all the Lincoln Dealers calling out "Where Are The 2013 MKZ's?"

It's just great that the "new" Lincoln Motor Company can't supply any 2013 MKZ's to their dealers. Don't matter if it is a large dealer or a small dealer, none have any MKZ's. All the dealers in my area have not had any for sale yet, and today is the last day of 2012. (they did have one for display only a couple months ago).

It's not only the 2013 MKZ, but also the 2013 Ford Fusion, which is trickling into dealer showrooms, are very few and far between. Something wrong here, seeing as how the Fusion has been in production for months. Some kind of "Quality" hold on those already built.

As for the 2013 MKZ, once they start to roll in, they "should" be 2014's, not 2013's. I know I would not want to buy a 2013 when the "Lincoln Motor Company" would problably introduce the 2014's sometime between May and September.

A few months ago, I was thinking of buying a 2013 Fusion Titanium (the best one they make), but in addition to them being few and far between, I had a health problem (setback) so a new car is out of the question for a few months. This being the case, seeing as how I'm not out spending my money due to my health problem, I may just spring for a 2014 MKZ if and when my health gets better.

Hey Lincoln Motor Company, Where Are The 2013 MKZ's?

I went to the LA Auto Show just after Thanksgiving and saw the 2013 MKZ's there. The people at the Lincoln display had me sign up for a $50 gift card with my email address. A week or so later, I got an email, inviting me to test-drive the 2013 MKZ at my local dealership and to have the salesman validate my entry to receive the gift card in the mail. So I printed it and took it down there, but they didn't have any cars yet. They validated my entry anyway and my card should be on its way soon. So, the whole idea was to pay me $50 to come check out a car they don't have yet!

Well, my local dealer shows 3 "in stock" on his website - but I wouldn't bet on it that this is actually accurate.

There aren't any at dealers yet.  On my dealer's website you can't input 'MKZ' under '2013.'  Another local dealer shows 3 cars when you search their new car inventory.  However, when you click on any of those it says "on order" so they don't actually have them in stock either.

Why don't you call the dealer and ask if they actually have any for sale?  I bet the answer will be no.

I've seen a few around here, but I'm in Dearborn so I guess that's to be expected.  There's a white down with a manufacturer plate that goes by my house and it's friggin sharp!  :worship:

New models years are often slow out of the gate from plant to dealer.

My local dealership says that there are MKT's and MKS's for 2013 on the lot, and I don't even see any 2012's!

The only differences between the 2012 and 2013 MKT's and the MKS's are just facelifts. The MKZ is "all new" and has nothing in common with the MKT and MKS other than the name Lincoln.

Just saw photos of the MKC. I think it is time to drop the whole "MK" thing and give these cars names again.

Jim Farley, who just tool over Lincoln is a big fan of the MK naming, so were stuck with it for a while.  I agree though, bring back Zephyr, Continental, etc.

From AutolineDaily:

Lincoln saw its sales and market share drop last month in what otherwise was a strong market. And the reason Lincoln dropped is because Ford is very slow in getting its new MKZ to the dealers. That’s strange because the MKZ is built at the same plant as the Ford Fusion, and the Fusion had a terrific month with sales up 58 percent. In fact, the rest of the Lincoln line did pretty well too. Ford’s not saying why the MKZ is so slow to the market. They admit they’re doing some kind of additional quality inspections, but that would suggest it’s having some sort of problem that is unique to the MKZ, otherwise you’d expect to see the Fusion having the same issues.

From AutolineDaily:

Here it is, the END OF FEBRUARY, and none of the Lincoln Dealers in my area of Central Florida has seen any MKZ's come in. The dealers have to be "hurting".

I wonder what "Lincoln Motor Company" is telling their dealers about the delay.

As i said before, when dealers start to get them in, they "should" be called 2014's, not 2013's as it will be so late in the model year.

Ordered mine September 2012 expecting November delivery, then December, then January, then Week of 25 February2013, still not here. Car was built January 29, in Hermisillo, Mex. Last Update from Lincoln was February 8, still in Hermosillo. Car window sticker states gives the automobiles raill car number on 29 January. As of March 4, 2013 Lincoln Customer Service reps have no information to provide to customers since 8 February. No information avail for car location since Hermosillo. I would be a happy camper if I were informed of the car's real location and what has impeded it's scheduled 25 February Delivery. Does anyone know how to locate a car after it leaves Mexico? I.e. at Flat Rock, MI. . Surely a car built the last week of January would not still be in Mexico 5 weeks later?

Heard the exact same thing on the Fusion Forums, as Fusions are made in the same place as the MKZ's. Fusions were sitting in a lot in Hermosillo for weeks, not moving. Then some went somewhere to have headlights replaced, engines fixed, and other quality problems corrected. They then started shipping to dealers in quantity, about five weeks ago. Until that time, they were few and far between. Even today, although dealers have Fusions in stock, they don't have very many of the top of the line "Titanium's". Mostly "S" and "SE". I was all set to buy a Fusion Titanium back in December, until the dealer in Tampa tried to rip me off. Told him to go pound salt.

Some of the guys who had pre ordered Fusions, canceled their orders, as the cars had not arrived in a reasonable time. Many of the Hybrids still have not arrived, even though they were pre-ordered many months ago.

The MKZ is in the same boat. Very late arrival. I could very well understand if you canceled your order, which was back in September of last year. By the time that car arrives, it will be almost time for Lincoln (and Ford) to start producing the 2014's, Once you get your pre-ordered car, it will be "last years model" within six months.

I no longer pre-order cars. I've done it in the past twice, and both times, I got burned. NEVER AGAIN. I got burned the first time when the car arrived without one piece of equipment that their brocures said came standard on the car. They could get away with it because in the fine print, it says that they can change equipment at any time. The second time, I got burned when I spotted problems with the car. Dealer says "oh, our service department can fix that", and i believed them. They could never fix one of the problems. Once you give a dealer a deposit for an ordered car, you will have a very hard time to get that deposit back.(Did I already say NEVER AGAIN). I now only buy from dealer stock. I look around at various dealers, to see what they have, or even go to Autotrader.com to check out dealers within a reasonable distance. Another thing. Never have a dealer tell you, "we can get it from another dealer" as that is the same as pre-ordering, with you giving the dealer a down payment. If you find something wrong with the car after it arrives at your dealer, lots of luck getting your deposit back. Lastly, DRIVE THE CAR YOU ARE BUYING, not just one just like it, but the exact car you are buying. Don't let the salesman drive the car from the back lot out to the front lot to you to see. Watch when the car is started COLD, as you will sometimes hear problems with a cold start, that you will not hear once the car is restarted after it reaches you. If a salesman says he will go back and get it, say no, you will go back with him. Feel the hood and engine to make sure it is cold, and only then, allow him to start it up. You may be surprised at what you hear.

I could go on and on, with stories on what I've seen, but you get the picture.

Good luck when and if your MKZ comes in.
