I have a 2014 MKZ Hybrid. On a recent trip to Cleveland Ohio I encountered bad snow on the way home. I felt like I had quite a few 'low traction' incidents where I felt the front of the car drift as I navigated stuck cars on the interstate. In previous cars that I've owned when I had a low traction occurrence, the low traction light would come on (the car with the squigglies behind it) when a drive wheel slips. This light never illuminated. I decided to crash for the night at a motel and when I got in the parking lot I floored it and definitely spun the wheels, again no low traction light.
Playing with the menu, I found where to turn Traction Control off and on. It was on. When T/C is off a light illuminates in the cluster that says "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" that stays lit. Both the Low Traction and TRACTION CONTROL OFF Light do come on during bulb test when the car is started so I know the light works.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm taking the car to the dealer Friday to have it checked out. I'll feel like an idiot if the light isn't supposed to light when the tires spin.....but then It begs another question, what should make the Low Traction light come on?
