  1. Slowly starting to warm up to the front end...Until one more detail started to stick out. Looking at the 2017 MKZ on the Lincoln Website (as well as the Auto show debuts) and one big concern for me is the headlight housing. I see a demonstration that has the headlight area as an open area with 1 main beam and 5 vertical LED "light bulbs" on the inside (progressing to the hood). Then I see on another MKZ a Headlight with two sections, 1 big area with 4 vertical bigger LED "light bulbs" and a smaller section with 2 vertical LEDs which might be high beams. My concern is adaptive headlights. I have them, no way I want to lose them. I am wondering if Lincoln is providing an option for Adaptive Headlights by providing the two different front ends? If the two section headlight with no Adaptive Headlight is the final call, what a bummer!

  2. My post was more wishful thinking. Looking at the options, I do not see anything major lost, outside of capacitive touch HVAC controls now knobs (unless I missed something else). Given that, if all that is changing is the front of the car, then this is something to just get used to "looks" wise. It's going to be interesting seeing them on the road (or getting into it daily).

  3. With car in the shade, dab a little distilled white vinegar on the water stain. Then after a few minutes, lightly dab that with a "clean" microfiber and see if that solves your water stain problem. Also, try using a "clean" nylon bristle paint brush to apply tire dressing instead of the foam sponges, Gets in the letters better than the foam for a darker appearance.

  4. I use one. Located a size close to our screen on Ebay and used a paper slicer at Fedex to cut to size. Light adhesive backing to the protector will allow me to remove down the road if need be. For the small cost of the protector, including my time, compared to the right girl with long nails who is too cold/hot...9 different stations/songs/weather/who are you texting... pays for itself in the long run.

  5. I occasionally set up text message notifications to my cell phone through Sync services to warn me if traffic delays are on my route before I get into the car. I needed to modify a route and could not locate the specific path on the Owners.Lincoln.com website that I usually go to upon login in. In talking to a Sync representative, they merged the Sync page with the Owners.Lincoln page, removing some items. They provided me the direct link to the page I would normally go to:

    https://owner.lincoln.com/tools/account/how-tos/sync-services.html

But they advised this direct page was removed from the Owners.Lincoln website so searching for it is not possible. When I click on the page, it takes me back to the Owners profile page and is an endless loop to update anything. I am providing this to all to see if you can access this page (if you need to) otherwise you may need to have a Sync representative process your modifications for you, if like me, you utilize a service provided by Sync to send you text message notifications on a specific route..

  6. Took my car in to perform the 15s14 Steering Gear Motor Bolt Corrosion recall as my vehicle was originally registered in Ohio. The service manager advised it is a kit that takes less than a day to complete. In researching, this article sheds a little more light on the subject.

I will keep you informed if the work completed goes good or south.

  7. I had a discussion on the topic with a Ford employee and he too advised turning off the A/C a little bit before the car was turned off. He also mentioned to park the car with the window cracked to let the moisture escape the vehicle. I told him that I turn everything off before I turn my car off as I am of the old mindset, don't overload the starter, but he quickly countered that was not needed anymore due to the electronics of today's cars and by leaving the items on, the system will do what it needs to do on it's own.

I had to laugh though, the loaner MKS they gave me blasted me with a foul A/C smell each time I turned it on.

In researching a quick solution, there are a few cleaning sprays, just like Drolds1 mentioned. If I ever have to tackle this again, I would like to try the unscented Lysol first to see if that will work. $8 a can. Heck it kills H1N1.....

  8. Brought it in and the dealer was fully aware of the TSB and issue associated with the A/C smell. I asked them to install a brand new in cabin air filter (at my cost as I requested it) if they do the TSB service, which they did end up completing the TSB and they did install a new filter. So far no smell, but we shall see as time goes by. Looking at the work involved to do an in cabin air filter change myself, I highly recommend you spend the < $30 for an in cabin air filter replacement if you take your car in for the A/C TSB, as they will already have the dash apart and be able to install the new filter for you.

If you do not fall under the TSB and feel adventurous, some forums on the issue suggest spraying Lysol into the outside vent with the air running (and all windows down). A quick search brought back that Lysol sells an unscented version. This might be an option compared to the dealer service and cost for them to spray whatever chemicals into your air system.

  9. Before I do the Lysol trick, anyone else having issues with their A/C smelling musty? I plan on doing the In cabin air filter replacement as well, but just curious if anyone else is experiencing a musty smell when the recirculation is on for Max A/C? I saw a couple forums that advised to check the evaporator hose, but where is that located?

    Thanks!

  10. Robert,

I was able to pick up a Vivitar DVR787HD Action camera from the Mart of Wal during the holidays, liked the picture/sound quality, options in the kit and what it did, so I picked up another for my father to use when he drives to/walks around the car cruises he goes to without me. I'll have to check and see if I can charge it while recording?? I do not see it for sale anymore at the Mart, but if you find a Vivitar, don't discount the quality for the price. I would love to find an inexpensive, 360 degree, motion detecting one to just leave in the car 24/7. Would have been nice to have one like that prior to my nice door ding......:(

As a follow up, my Google calendar process has worked so far. Also signed up for Sync traffic text notification (signed up for text message alerts in the Sync owners website) as I will not pay Sirius for their traffic warnings when free apps do it for free. So far, that has worked going to work and coming home. Just wish there was an app integrated into Sync (or that we can even add apps) that would be cleaner, seamless, autonomous in this process.

  11. Hi all,

Lately, I have tried figuring out a better way to remind myself in the MKZ on things I need to take care of when I arrive at my destination or for later tasks that I need to complete. When I got the MKZ I was excited to see an actual calendar, then felt deflated when I could not set reminders/appointments with it. Additionally, I often find myself driving and out of nowhere an important task comes to mind, (call city on those potholes) in which I need to jot down to remind myself, but I am driving, so I need a recorder of such. I have looked through voice commands and confirmed with Ford. No such feature. Short of buying a mini Digital Voice recorder for those moments, then listen to the recorder to set a date in my calendar, I have started doing this and wanted to share what is working if you too are in need of a solution like this.

1st, I have a gmail account which affords me Google Calendar. Apple may have a feature....may. I can sync up my Blackberry default calendar with my gmail account Google Calendar and any entry into the blackberry calendar, populates in gmail. Google calendar then allows you to add a mobile phone for either email or SMS Text reminders of calendar events. Since the MKZ does not accept email as a form of message, I select SMS Text as the method of message reminder within the Google Calendar settings. Once in the car driving, Google Calendar sends me a SMS Text at the specific time I set, then the MKZ notifies me through Sync and I can listen to the reminder message...hands free.

The reverse of this is I have my phone number added in my contacts and use a default voice control program to request a calendar reminder (mail out birthday card when I get home, look up business address, etc) which Google will send a SMS Text out at that specific reminder time. My phone constantly reminds me I have a message or the text is stored for me to review later.

Like I said, this is a way around always having a mini Digital Recorder to record those times I need to remind myself of something important. I have also found myself distracted, losing focus of important stops on the way home, especially if it is snowing and there is traffic or I have to play the homeless shuffle on the walk to the car from work. I can set the calendar to remind me "XX" minutes/hours/days at a certain time and when in the MKZ, I get the text to them remind me to make the stop at a specific gas station, so take this route home, etc.

I hope this helps, unless you have a better suggestion or have had better experience with another program. With unlimited text messaging, all this costs me is a little time.

  12. Another irk is I do not store album art on my MP3's. I would rather have the room for music than the art. Ford confirmed for me that there is no way to remove the stock, default, art image present on every song you play on MyLincolnTouch. There will always be an image present on the song screen. Just FYI.

  13. Hi all,

I have looked around as well on the Fusion forums, but not seeing an answer to this, I am curious if there is a way to re-organize the media device order, within the Sync Entertainment area, specifically, I want the Am radio and Sirius to be the last options in the column and USB, FM Radio and CD to be above? Any option to do that?

  14. Rick, in the summer, I would not object to a prototype cooler. I will run it past the dealer next time I am in the area and let you know what they find. Just odd that it is letting cold air in around the lower part of the center console, and there  should be nothing open right there, unless the console is acting as a conduit for cold air to blow in from an opening in the front dash/ engine bay?? I need a Ford thermal test performed  ;)

I am definitely not liking how ice is building up around the wiper blade arms. I have to look into a cover option when parked outside over night or at work. But, so far, even with the little "things" I am finding, all-in-all, this is a dang good vehicle. No Toyota jump of joy when I get out, but I look at it a few times as I slowly walk away from it.
