  1. I also have a darkside metallic mkz, the color is hard to explain, as well as show in photos, but as stated, depending on lighting it will appear as different colors. Under floresent street lights it appears like a bass boat green/blue, at night or on cloudy days it appears black or purple (or when dirty), in very sunny days it will appear as green/blue again

  2. The other way is to use the key pad... put your fingers over the 8 and 0 keys for a few seconds and it locks.... just make sure you have your key fob with you or you know your keypad unlock code because if you're key is inside the car it will lock you out ;)

It may be poor form, but I have been leaving my key in the center storage box out of sight for the last 3 months and only using the keypad to unlock and lock the car. I don't even have to carry the fob around which is nice at times... but it does add the extra step to of keying in your code to unlock...

Alot of my customers do this.. even though that it is not advised.. many do it.

  3. I don't think I could be comfortable trusting the auto-lock feature but it does sound quite cool.

I use the fob and sometimes the door handle ribs...and I like the one press "no horn sound" feature.  With 2 you get horn.

There was a setting for the Cruze that I had... I was able to make the horn chirp and headlights flash to confirm the lock.. or you could have it lock with no horn, or no indicator at all.

  4. I checked my manual also and it says in tiny print under the feature that it doesn't work with the power decklid.  Geeze.  That said, it would be nice if it did because, the manual button by the license won't work if you don't have your keyfob and the car is locked [at least the one time I tried it].  Then again, I'd have to remember the damn keypad code.

You could unlock it with the keypad code, then just press the release button on the dash next to the headlight controls...

  5. When you exit the vehicle, look at the driver front door handle (near rear of handle, on the top side) you will see 3 litle ribs. If you have the fob outside of the car, simply hold your finger over those ribs for a few moments and the doors will lock, turn signal indicators will flash to confirm the lock and the indicator will turn red for the locks.

    Hope this helps.

This was one thing I was rather disappointed with coming to an MKZ from a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that had an auto lock feature when exiting.. it spoiled me apparently, used to be able to just walk away and know that it would lock.

  6. Thank you for all the help especially drolds1. I was looking in the Mtce section and (stated if equipped).

Thank you for the reference (2012 MKZ Hybrid OM, pg 140) it stll states if equipped but I now know where to look and what to look for!

    Thanks a million......BoltsFan4

Does anyone know where the seat filters are located and is this a job that i can do myself like the cabin air filter or is this a dealer job?

Thank you for any help.  BoltsFan4!

What does your owners manual tell you?  The 2013/14 use non-serviceable lifetime filters, so at least we don't have to worry about changing those things.  :)

I have never seen a seat filter that NEEDED to be changed... that is why the new ones are listed as lifetime... because the prior ones never even needed changed.. and im talking navigators with 200k+ and still looked new... we have changed them but they didnt need it but customer requested to, even after we advised them they didnt need to..

  7. Thank you for this post.  I just picked up my 2013 yesterday and was going to take into the dealership but then came across your post.  I don't quite understand what the engineering complexity is that prohibits the power trunk from being opened by the keypad...but, oh well.

It doesnt make alot of sense, there are powered trunks on Towncars back to 04~05ish that are capable of being opened with the key pad

  8. Well, good luck.  Currently, this can only be done by Ford engineering.  This is directly from a Ford engineer who's a member of another forum that I belong to:

And that seems to be what I am running into.. but I have not found who to contact to be able to do this...

One of the techs was talking about a time that a vehicle delivered without Navigation but was requested to be built with it, (this was 08-09 I believe) and he said they had to jump through alot of hoops and they were able to get it corrected but he doesnt recall who they even began to call with the issue...

    I'll keep trying...

  9. The vibration is bad, throughout the whole car you can hear and feel the buffetting.

Even from 20' away is loud enough to hear.

Maybe mine is offset or out of alignment.

That is not normal!!! Take that in, so that you can enjoy your very expensive pano roof and car again.

  10. It is my understanding that, like the moon roof, the pano roof can be opened in two stages.  Don't quote me on that!

One trick I have found to help answer some of these questions is to download the Owners Manual from the Lincoln website for the model in question.  You would be surprised (well, probably not) at the vast amount of information you can glean from the manual!  ;)

It automatically opens to the comfort position.. but can then be opened fully. Comfort position is for less wind noise and pressure, as stated below by others.

There's one thing I can say about the Pano roof on my wife's 2014 MKZH---just hope that none of your quarter panels are damaged! I knew what the repair would be just to reach all of the factory welds--as I worked on cars. Can anyone guess the cost of a correct repair?

Be best to not think about that and have good insurance.

My 13' Pano vibrates when closing if it is sitting in the sun on hot parking lot.

Had it aligned and greesed but vibration is still there.

Liekly the retract speed is not in sync from left and right side,

But I love the Pano, no issues with visibility.

The retract to my understanding is done by the same motor on both left and right side... but one thing to realize is that the pano is a VERY heavy piece of glass.

  11. I came from a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze to a 2014 MKZ... and I was not impressed with the lighting in the trunk.. my cruze was phenomenal and this lighting setup just flat out sucks... also sucks to think a 2 year older, lesser product has any feature over this vehicle...

  12. Parts for this recall will not be available until the THIRD quarter of 2015, those effected will be waiting for a while, unless your airbag light comes on sooner.... if it does, take it to the servicing dealer and repairs can be expedited, the only available modules to correct this are being used in the vehicles currently affected.

    Just sharing.

  13. I am currently working to see what all needs to be performed to make this a possibility, inserting the A5 card simply is not enough. I do believe the cars without Nav, did ship with all essential hardware (global positioning module) due to observation, if you click on the INFORMATION quadrant on the MLT, then select the button that says WHERE AM I? There is no map, obviously, but it does give you your exact longitude and latitude, and also changes as you drive. Give me a week or so to play with this and see what I can come up with (which modules need reprogrammed, flashed, etc....) I will report back with news either way. I know many that have a vehicle that was purchased without it would like to be able to add it later, or at least know that it could be if desired.

  14. I have a new 2014 MKZ that was shipped with the navigation disabled. Can I have this done? My salesman did not know about it. Found it in an article on the web.

"Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships Disabled

Ford explains: When you take delivery of a Ford with MyFord Touch or Lincoln with MyLincoln Touch, you get a vehicle with an 8-inch touchscreen and you also get the navigation application embedded in the car. But it's no good without the navigation SD card, for which you pay $795, and then Ford activates the car and enables navigation. That apparently means you can choose to have factory onboard navigation the day you take delivery. Or, later on, you can choose between factory navigation or a third-party portable GPS system that will be clunky, take up space on the windshield, and cost half what Ford charges."

    Thanks

From what I have read yes but my dealer doesn't know about it so i'm looking for a dealer to do it.

I have a 2013 ford edge that has the same Sync system and the SD card will not work in the lincoln. I think it will be a very long wait for pirated SD cards, Ford has this under control.

I think it's just an App you or a dealer installs and then inserts the SD card. On my car no apps are installed on my wives 2013 Edge with the same system as my car it shows the an app is installed. Application name: "Navigation/16777215" Expiration Date "None". I don't get it the system is all set up to install apps but I can't find any apps for it. I know how to stream audio, but that's not having a app installed in MyLincoln Touch. I know I have seen pictures with the Pandora Icon on the radio screen. Have any of you seen that on your sync screen.

Ask your service representative to reference TSB 14-0175:

Either have access to the workshop manual or Mitchell.... I was actually coming on to post this same info for everyone..

Mine has not presented this issue to me yet... we will see. I know after the update on several MKZ's and MKS, the issue was resolved.

    Good luck.
