Missing nipple on air cleaner tube.
4N1M4L replied to jasongentry42's topic in AWD (All Wheel Drive)
Thats the suction for the crank case ventilation. The concept has been around a long time. A little exhaust leaks past the pistons, and left there would turn the oil sludgy and acidic. There is a line run from the vaccum system to the crankcase, and then another run to between the air filter and intake. The cc vent used to have its own filter that most people thought was for adding oil through. Now modern cars make use of an already installed and maintained filter. -
If you are under warrantee, let it be the dealers problem. If not its fuse 6 under the hood. Relay 53 if the fuse is ok. Be careful, its a 40 amp fuse. If those are good then yeah, you are chasing wiring.

VERY loud cross-traffic warning sounds from rear speaker
4N1M4L replied to 00Don's topic in 2006-2012 Lincoln MKZ
My experience was that the cta system made that speaker get a rattle, which made it louder. I might have a solution in a bit. I'm troubleshooting dtc c1742 which is the sounds circuit failure. Interestingly, before it failed all together mine got really loud too -
So I got the module in. Only had a chance to play once. It can see the module. Might have to get creative to get it to let me cal. Able to troubleshoot my reverse sensing system. It had dtcs for the speaker.... We shall see.

If they did the window run, then its either the weather strip, or maybe even the mirror. My truck (s-10) had a wind noise issue, and it was the rubber "conduit" connecting the door to the rest of the car. but that would be obvious.

Yes. Those are the sport wheels. I have the package on mine. I'll take some pix in the morning

Removal of door sills and running of power wire
4N1M4L replied to HokieMKZ's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
You might be better off running them under the car then coming up under the rear seat through the same holes used by the evap. If you remove the back seat (2 latches where the leather meets carpet) and use those two access holes. -
2010 awd. Long term average in the odb says 23.8

Poor Quality Sound from THX Sound System
4N1M4L replied to GlennA's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
I love my thx system, but I have a 2010. The newer version sounds tinny to me, one of the reasons I won't upgrade for a while -
Mine is in the top of the mirror. I was hoping for this. Just going to be a little tricky with the mic.
-
And you have sync with a microphone? Is your mic in the headliner or something?

once i get that $100 module for my phone i talked about it my welcome post, i'll let you know if thats all you need.

Tell them whats up. It sounds like software, and yes, 2013 was a new model year. It should be quick if you have an appointment.

Can you not go through the voice training on the 13-14 version? My 10 never had a real problem, as long as I spoke a little loudly if the air was going. Never had to yell. Once the car is cooled off its normal speech for me. The my Lincoln touch is one of the factors that keeps me from upgrading. The sync system with touch screen (10-12) is awesome.

There are ways to do this, but the dealer won't help. You can calibrate the weight sensor in the passenger seat with a decently talented code scanner. If it is calibrated correctly, but you are running into a physics problem, you could probably calibrate it again and have somebody lift up on the seat to offset so it turns on.

when you did the led puddle lights, do they still do the theater fade like the originals?

I was the same way for a while. My wife had ran it into the curb hard enough to shift the cradle over. The body shop just did a cradle alignment and replaced the wheels. After running through 3 bearings I decided to change the knuckle myself. Was actually pretty cheap for fomoco parts on eBay. Less than 200 for the knuckle, and 76 for the bearing. Used the old hub since that was one of the things the shop had already changed. The only thing I missed was the speed sensor. Put that back, got an alignment, and now its like new. I do instrument maintenance and the more I learn the more I think I can fix anything. It's all online anymore anyways.

might sound odd, but could you post a picture of your interior (middle) rear view mirror? one of my peeves is that they put the light sensors at the bottom and headlights have to get fairly high to reach the sensor, reaching my eyes well before hand

Hi all, My name is john. I live in buckeye Arizona. bought a 2010 mkz back in December 2009. I got it fully loaded, with the tech, sport, awd, and alumnium trim packages. Black exterior, grey interior. Its been treating me pretty good, had the throttle body changed out when it was still under warranttee. Still have the common tail light problem, where all 3 rows are lit without the pedal being pushed. Right now some of the things I am slowly troubleshooting are the torque strut mount, also known as the roll restrictor. I'm pretty sure thats what it is thats making engine noise be heard louder in certain situation. Theres only 3 engine mounts, and this is the one that has the force applied to it change on acceleration and idle. only 70 bucks through orielys or ford, so going with the ford. My reverse park aid is acting up, inoperable. I've been reading about them for a while, and now know that my $20 bluetooth obd doesn't access the can bus these controllers live on, so i'm going to be purchasing the $100 dollar obd adapter, that does access MS-CAN. either that or just use some jumpers and forscan to get on the ms-can bus. Recently my drivers side seat cooling seems to not be pushing any air through the seat, and i've gained some weight, so its probably that the duct got bent, so i'll be working on that once i look up how the seat innards come apart. Is there no subforum for maintenance or troubleshooting?
