  1. Well if you don't facebook, I hope you at least enjoyed the video! haha Anything helps that's for sure. Votes, likes, and shares all total up in the end (Dec 20th at midnight!)
  2. I've been missing my MKZ since I sold it. Been considering picking up a new body one perhaps after the holidays. Such a clean smooth ride! In the mean time, I do have a request of the MKZ community. I work for Ford and I'm in the running for Ford's Thirty Under 30. More specific I work for Ford Credit in their Nashville center. I manage a specialty team in account services, much more than that and you'll be bored to tears with the details. The thirty under 30 program aims to change how Ford interacts and supports their nonprofit partners. It's an amazing opportunity. I've done a ton of volunteering, not just with Ford, but in Nashville in general. I volunteer with a local ministry in the area, supports graceworks fuel bag programs, united way in an assortment of programs, Nashville rescue mission, done a boat load with JDRF and Salvation Army. I've also done some pretty cool stuff with Urban Farms (which is worth a google). Round one took applications across the company for any employee under 30. I made it through! The next step I was tasked with making a 30 second video to explain why I should be in the program. This is where you come in, I could use some votes/likes/shares to ensure I make it in to the program. I spoofed the McConaughey bull ad for my video. Check it out here Thanks y'all!
  3. Arrived a couple days ago, should have it in the car today! Will post follow up pics
  4. Zombie thread back from the dead! Looking at running my power wire this morning. What ended up being your solution? Where did you come in to the car at from the engine bay?
  5. I stumbled on to a friend from work working on the sub in his car the other day and it got me itching to add a little bass to my factory radio system. I've been through the multiple large subs and amps phase in my life and I still want a lot of usable space in my trunk. I remembered back in my retail electronics days I sold some car stereo set ups for single cab trucks that were super slim lined and I remembered being mildly satisfied with the sounds of a bazooka tube. I started my search with that in mind, then stumbled on to self-contained super slim units! Pretty much every manufacturer makes some version that is able to be slid under a seat. One that seems to be brand new on the market as of this year is the Rockford PS-8. It drew me in for the quality of rockford and the fact it comes with all the needed wiring plus a bass knob. I am on the hunt for a good deal on one currently. I plan on installing it in the trunk. Hopefully mounted on the top section near the rear speakers. I'm running the factory head unit. I plan on using an RCA convertor to bum off the rear speaker connections to get sound. Should be a simple set up. Running the power line and finding a good remote line will be the only "difficult" part. The unit does have on/off sensing, but reviews on the actual sensing abilities have been weak for pretty much all manufactures. Wanted to get a thread going on it. Will hopefully have one acquired soon and begin an install!
  6. No new radio. And no dice on the removal. Holding off until the warmer months
  7. I've been looking for some subtle mods to do to the MKZ. I've been researching the center dash speaker and it's mostly a plastic covering with a small actual hole for the sound to escape. Thinking of doing some tinkering with it and I'd like to remove it. Based on what I'm seeing I think it's got a screw or two at the front. Those are covered by the silver bezel around the radio. What I'm unsure of is does the silver around the radio just clip in or is it bolted down under the wood grain across the dash? Any info on removing it would be greatly appreciated!
  8. New rather subtle mod with some good ol' plastidip
  9. little late to the party, but my MKZ is called the Lincdawg thanks to one of the guys I work with. I thought it was just hysterical and I've called it that ever since
  10. Yes it is. It's directly above my head. is yours in a different location?
  11. So in all honesty, my cutting wheel on the dremel ran out while I was midway through cutting up the heat shield for the cold air intake. So I bent the edge of the shield over to get it to fit for the short term. Today I was able to pull it back apart and finish the project as it should be. There is a good inch or more of the shield cut off to make it fit around the headlight housing and it's still a very snug fit. The filter has to be adjusted just right so it all slides in. Steeda intake shield out of the box A few modifications later Yes, I did get a little over zealous on the bottom of it. However now it fits perfectly, just like it should. I also got a chance to install the strut tower brace which blends in wonderfully. The front side closest to the bumper And the inside of the front portion of the shield. Very neatly tucked in The CAI does have the restrictor removed. Combined with the tune it is a fantastic upgrade. The pick up is awesome. My tires are definitely built more for comfort than intense grip and I love that they will spin from a rolling start now. Did not expect it the first time it happened! The improved gas mileage, especially around town, is also wonderful. And to finish it up, the Steeda banner hung on the garage wall
  12. Puddle lights have been that way for a couple weeks now. They work perfectly and do fade in and out like the original lights. I purchased them for cheap on eBay. They are three lights wide by three rows tall on four sides with six lights on the top.
  13. Very difficult to picture, but my light sensor is at the top middle of my rear view mirror.
  14. Steeda for everything. Used the dremel to cut the heat shield a little so it would fit around the headlight housing/bulbs.
  15. CAI and tune installed today, my lawd I love it!! The sound is aggressive, it makes me want an exhaust or at least to delete the resonators. The improved pick up rocks. And if-ever I can keep my foot off the floor I'm pumped for some improved gas mileage.

    Billet Grille

a lot of weird angles and edges on it, might be quite a task to wrap it

    Billet Grille

It'll be an interesting task. I'd really like to see it finished. I've considered painting the grill black, but leaving the outter edges silver to make it pop out more.

    Billet Grille

I looked as well. Problem is that the grill has the piece going out around the headlight as well. I don't think the aftermarket wants to deal with that. Sounds like you may have to custom fab one yourself! I'd love to see it done
  19. while the forum is slow and so is the fusion one....the fusion facebook group is quite lively! Is there a private one for the MKZ that might be a little more active?
  20. I'm interested in seeing some "live" shots as well! AJG it may be more beneficial to check out how well 19" and 20" wheels look via the fusion forums. Also looking forward to seeing your blacked out grill. I've considered the same, but felt it would be too much black.
  21. the sticker is just for kicks. Had a sticker on my Focus in the shape of one of those tree air fresheners with "Fresh" written at the bottom
  22. Welcome from another new to me 2012 MKZ owner
  23. I recently picked up my MKZ so not a lot has happened to it yet. The day I brought her home untinted, front plated, dealer logo'd, and just under 20k miles First things first was tint, 20% all around with a banner across the front. Looks wonderful. Followed by removal of the front plate mount I hate that there are now holes in my front bumper, but they were filled nicely with some push in body clips designed for Nissan/Inifinti. Essentially looks like they're front parking sensors Little sticker action on the rear quarter glass upgraded puddle lights to LEDs from eBay. Nice little improvement that's hard to picture And while I wait for my CAI, tune, and front strut bar to come from the Steeda Labor day sale I picked up this. Also picked up a pretty sweet Lincoln polo. Pumped for the Tune and CAI! I always wanted a tune for the 09 focus I had, but never pulled the trigger on it. I like the idea of a new hot rod Lincoln. Continuing forward I'd like to upgrade the wheels to something else slightly larger, but factory. So perhaps wheels from an MKT or MKX to get to a factory 19" or 20" with a much more aggressive tire
  24. Hello there! I've been spending some time on the Fusion Club Forum as it's slightly more active, but I felt I needed to come here! August 3rd I traded my trusty 2009 Focus SES and an old Audi A6 in to my favorite Ford dealer. I was eyeing a couple 2012 lease turn ins with less than 20k miles. It was between a Fusion Sport and Lincoln MKZ. Both very similar cars with similar price tags, but an oddly different road presence. After a little debate, I sided with the MKZ for the cleaner looks, same motor, and maybe this last one is a little ridiculous. I work for Ford Credit and there is an endless sea of Fusions in the parking lot mostly in the color white. I just couldn't bring myself to be part of that, so at least the logo on the hood is different It's no Focus ST (keep in mind I was coming from a focus), but I absolutely love my choice! I am excited to see what all the fusion/mkz world has to offer AND without further adieu Last picture of my focus First picture at home Immediate tint and front plate removal Future plans: Steeda power pak, rear sway bar, front strut bar, better tires Debating removing the pinstripe and rear badges I understand the Lincoln badge doesn't scream power and fun, but I plan on making the most of it!
