  1. Finally I was able to get a video of this to show the dealer. It happened again this past saturday,. time to call the dealer
  2. Former Long Islander here and I agree and also learned my lesson on low profile tires in the NY area. I also believe you will get a softer/smoother ride from standard wall tires Even though I left LI 6 years ago and retired to FL I still want my standard wall tires for the extra comfort. :love_shower: and BTW welcome to the forum :welcome:
  3. My vehicle is equipped with the A5 NAV chip. It is the same chip that came with the vehicle when purchased new. I have had this vehicle since Oct 29, 2014 and have driven it for about 24,000 miles. The strange thing it has not happened again since my OP. I wish I had taken a picture of my display/dash when this happened. Anyone else got any ideas???
  4. Over the last 2 weeks I have noted on 5 occasions that when I have a destination set in my NAV system and everything seems to be fine that all of a sudden the display is showing I am not on the road (Off Route) indicated. The first time this happened I was travelling to an unfamiliar location and my destination was somewhat out in the country so I chalked it up to just map data error and eventually the map realigned itself so it showed I was back on route. I had tried during the erroneous display to completely stop the car and restart including stopping and re-entering the destination information. Two days later it happened again but this time along town roads which I have taken many times before so I am throwing away the possibility of map data error. Yesterday morning error actually showed me streets that are unfamiliar so I have no idea how off it was. Most of the time it looks like it is 100-200' feet off the road. The error is not always in the same direction nor is it the same distance from the road so I am a little baffled here and wondering if it is a satellite that is acting up in it transmission or is someone (military, government, etc) making some update/adjustment to the actual GPS satellite? Maybe I have my tin-foil hat on right now but this system has been flawless for the last 1-1/2 years. I found this general article http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=gpsUserInput but it doesn't really address my issue as most of the time it is fine and accurate. I cannot duplicate the problem at will as it might be fine when I start out and then shows I am no longer on the road at some point on my trip. If I make the exact same trip a 2nd time, it stays on route. I tried googling to see if there was a general GPS satellite issue but came up with nothing. My general area of travelling is north/central florida. Anyone else experiencing this issue?
  5. Is it possible that the address you are trying to input did not exist when the map data was created? It is trying to match your request against what was available but if it does not know then that is it. You may need to update the map.
  6. I am looking for new tires for my vehicle which has the standard 18 inch rims. The car came with Michelins which performed poorly in the mileage department and now have almost 24,000 on them. I have used Bridgeports for other high end vehicles in the past but looking for other owners experience on replacement tires for MKZh. I do a lot of highway travel (about 75%) of my overall driving I am looking for Quiet ride Great rain handling min 50,000 mile rating Not looking for Run-flats Winter ratings (I am in Florida) Thanks in advance to all
  7. I happen to like the fact that traffic information (construction, accidents, delays, etc.) are intergraded into the NAV based the destination I set. The screen being much larger than my cell phone makes it easier to get other services. I do a lot of traveling alone by road to golf events to this is important to me.
  8. I have never used it in either my 2013 or 2014. I do use the travel link info but do not listen to music so I only subscribe to that sat service. As I have a NAV I did not see a point to the Sync service.
  9. I believe my 2013 MKZ was getting about 26 mpg average with the 2.0 Turbo ecoboost engine before it was traded in so yours does seem low. I would definitely recontact the dealer about this and have them look at the engine codes for a trouble point.
  10. Mine come on whenever I unlock the car, open a door or whenever the headlights are on. My car is equipped with the tech package which also include adaptive autolamps and i always leave the headlight switch in the auto position. When I close the last door after turning off and exit the vehicle they will remain on until I hit "lock' on the remote. They might be considered parking lamps but that is my guess. I don't see a fuse in the manual just for the parking lamps, maybe someone else more familiar can chime in with additional info.
  11. Welcome to the forum - It is not on the 2013 or 2014, you have to manually fold them
  12. We had another thread on this subject, here is the link http://lincolnmkzforum.com/topic/549-trunk-lighting/?hl=%2Btrunk+%2Blight
  13. Glad to hear that. Oil leaks can be a royal pain
  14. If there is an oil leak from where the filter attaches and a new filter did not correct the problem then there is something else not right.... just saying
  15. I agree... seen the keys in the pocket cause an all open... or an all close. I believe you could control the action from a settings screen.
  16. I ones I bought from Lincoln are not the in-channel type but mount to the frame around the window with trim tape.
  17. I have had my 2014 MKZh for about 18 months now and approaching 20K miles and I have not seen this issue. Also the size of the starting battery should be related to the cranking amps needed for starting but not running. As the 4 cyl engine is small I am not afraid of it being a smaller battery then what is found needed for an 8 cyl engine.I noted you mentioned that your battery is a "toy" battery. I guess you are being sarcastic by using that term but I would not classify the battery the same as you would find in a handicap scooter or a toy electric car if this is what you meant. Just for the heck of it I just went and measured mine, after it sat all night (I got back about 7:30PM), and it is measuring 12.2 V measured with a Fluke DVM which I consider to be a fairly accurate meter. I also see you are in Nebraska (brrrrr) so the cold weather could also be affecting the performance of a marginal battery. As a thought, what are he odds that you have something wrong elsewhere that is rapidly discharging the battery? Like a trunk light switch or similar.....
  18. From what you are describing, it still sounds like a bad battery, possibly one that is partially internally shorted or just cannot hold a charge.
  19. Maybe you actually have a bad main battery. Have you brought it into a dealer for the problem?
  20. I had them on my 2013 and now on my 2014. I wouldn't buy another car without them.
  21. Yes the dealer repaired it under warrantee. They never mentioned there was a recall involved and I never saw any notice about it. When it happened it did sound like a weld point broke free.
  22. I had the exact same thing happen in my 2014.... seems that the seat back frames are not very strong
  23. Prior to the the MKZ I had a BMW i535 and a Lexus ES330. I never had the 2002 BMW grow on me, thought the a car's layout was NOT intuitive, in fact I traded it in for the Lexus after 3 years. It is not all it's cracked up to be IMO I was supposed to get a Acura TL after the BMW but the dealer backed out of the deal and pissed me off so I drove out of his lot to the Lexus dealer down the road. Now the 2005 ES (2005) was a dream car, I loved driving that thing and kept it for 9 years. I would have went for a new one (2013) but I didn't like how they changed the NAV system and instrument panel. So I went shopping and found the MKZ
  24. Why would you leave Florida to go back to NY :) :whistling:
