  1. Update The car has been at the dealer since 6/12 when they determined that the noise was internal to the transmission. I spoke them late yesterday (6/20) afternoon and they informed me that the "transmission shop" has not even looked at the vehicle and it may be at least another week before they determine the real issue. Now this is not a small dealer by any means, In fact it is one of the largest dealers in the state and this location handles much more than Lincolns and Fords. Something just does not feel right about this and the service manager is not volunteering what is going on..... I am beginning to think there is a bigger issue here. After doing some research, I found this thread over in the Fusion forum http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9913-2014-ffh-transmission-replacement/ it included a link to a TSB but the link is not working, and I am not sure if it is the same transmission in the MKZH. Mine is listed as E-CVT on my window sticker while they are talking about a HF-35. Anyone have access to tsb14-0214.pdf HF35 TRANSMISSION - THUMPING/RUBBING OR GRINDING NOISE and could post it or email it to me? - THANKS I then found this article that supposedly supersedes TSB-014-2014 https://ford.oemdtc.com/578/thumpingrubbing-or-grinding-noise-coming-from-transmission-2013-2016-ford-lincoln .......and this https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/SB-10092366-5448.pdf I thought my build date was on the window sticker but don't see it. I would think I would fall into the "built on or before 8/15/2015" as my invoice is dated 10/29/2014. Anyone have any thoughts before I blow my top at the dealer
  2. What happened to the MKZ "Club" badges? They are gone.
  3. Not too shabby.... The only thing I am not a fan of is the pastel purple sub menu bar. I don't think we (users) can change a "theme" for the site as there appears to be only one listed (Default) in the pull down menu at the bottom.
  4. I really need to go back to an SUV type vehicle, MKC size. My only problem is that Lincoln doesn't currently offer one in a Hybrid. (My hybrid Z spoiled me)
  5. I starting noticing a noise last week on my 2014 MKZh with 56K miles on it when I take my foot off the accelerator and coasting as I was coming up to a red light. The noise is loudest at 30-35 mph but can appear at almost any speed. It sounded like almost a dry bearing, no squealing or squeaks, just a dry metal-on-metal rubbing/rotating sound, almost like a what a dragging brake pad might make. It was not coming from any wheel but from the engine compartment. If I hit my brake to further slow down the sound diminished but as soon as I release the brake to continue coasting it immediately came back. As I was due for an oil change, I scheduled the service (including the steering wheel bolt recall) for Tuesday and informed my dealer that I would wait for the car as I had 3 hours to kill before a meeting.. After being in the service bay for about 2 hours after my 1st thing in AM appointment, the service advisor came out and told me he had some bad news. The noise is coming from my transmission and they were going to keep the car. They immediate lined up a 2018 loaner MKC for me and I was on my way. They said it may be a few days before they have an answer for me, so I will post here what is ultimately found.
  6. Thanks for the heads up Dino, great information. I just finished removing all the panels in the trunk to get to the battery easier later, I understand what you are say after seeing how it mounted.
  7. Not sure what you mean by that, please enlighten me. My owner's manual lists the battery as BTX-96R-500 or a BTX-96R-590 (not sure why there would be 2) but looking at the original battery in the car it is a BTX-99R-390. Checking on-line I get some other conflicting information but the Autozone replacement is a Duralast 67R-DL (400 Cold Cranking Amps) with a 2-year warranty. Finding hards specs on both brands seems to be impossible. Picture of original battery label attached.
  8. Ok....started to notice that the car was "shutting down to save battery power" message on the screen immediately after turning off the vehicle but not yet opening the door. Took a quick measurement of the battery and found it at 10.35 volts when idle, nobody local stocks this battery. Dealer closed its parts counter a few hours ago. Autozone says they can have on tomorrow (sunday). I guess I will put my jump box in the trunk to make sure I don't get stuck.
  9. You definitely have something there that is sensitive to heat. 4 years, 55K on the clock and living in florida gave me every opportunity to find out if something is heat sensitive, it is not and mine sits in the sun for hours on end. Let the dealer sort through the error codes and see if they can figure out what module is acting up.
  10. It looked like he did this with the power live and the car on.... strange

    Free car wash

My carwash does a quick spray to test if I turned off the auto-wipers... the car reminds me to do the Neutral hold :)
  12. I changed my batteries after about 4 years but I don't use them much, I use the intelligence built into the door handle to open and lock my car. Same for the trunk, I use the outside button. My fob sits in a hard zippered key case in my pocket so the buttons are less likely to be hit by accident. Oh and BTW I do not use the remote start function much, no need to warm up the car down here :)
  13. I have had them on some past cars when I lived and worked in the New York Metro area. Anyway, here is a link to their contact info. Give them a call and see what you got, they register the devices by the VIN number of the car. The electronics is already in the car so what do you have to lose. :) http://my.lojack.com/

  15. I use the oil life monitor, never let it run less than 10% of life, normally schedule a change appointment when it hits around 15%

    Trunk

A dealer's parts dept should be able to help you with that replacement part

If you even have a spare tire, the hybrids don't come with one :)
  18. Over 50K miles on my 2014MKZh and never heard any popping noise backing up in wet weather and applying the brakes. (I do not back out of my garage as I back in :) ) Don't forget that part of the Hybrid braking system is the hydro/motor/generator action that engages thus returning power to the battery
  19. Very nice.... I like the new Aviator, maybe there will be a hybrid version of that in the near future
  20. Stop using those 4-letter words :)
  21. I have seen the guideline disappear even though they are configured.... mostly noticed if I don't have the truck lid completely closed
  22. Just for the record, I lived in the NYC area for the first 60 years of my life, last 17 was in Bellmore LI .... I had my share of snow over the years.... no more
  23. What's all that funny white powderly looking stuff on the floor ;)
  24. Questions for you.... Do you normally park in the driveway or garage at home? Do you have an irrigation system that is high in iron or sodium content? I live in a community that the irrigation wells do have high salt content as well as iron... it does effect the the vehicles parked on driveways regularly. For me, mine is rarely on the driveway overnight when the sprinklers run and the times it is I quickly take out a hose and rinse the vehicle with fresh water in the morning..
  25. Followup from dealer, car was in there all day yesterday, but they did offer me a loaner after waiting for it for 1-1/2 hours. See attached SSM 45157 I picked back up my MKZh this morning and the dealer gave me the attached document as the explanation. Lincoln engineering removed the chime when closing the power decklid using the inside truck lid button "to save the battery". :kookie: :sneaking:Are you kidding me? I will say that the reflashing the RGTM did solve the issue about the truck not always closing but find it totally illogical why they would remove the chime only when closing from use of the inside trunk lid button. It still chimes if closed from the under bumper button and if closed from the driver seat control. :idea:If they really wanted to save the battery it would have been disabled no matter what button you push to close it. After being in the electronics/computer business for over 45 years this smells of engineering screwing something up and the byproduct is now called a feature and "normal" operation. :runaway: It is funny that the last line of text in the SSM 45157 says :nono: Why do they say "may"? Does it not always happen? :headscratch: Interesting choice of words....  And there you have it... time to go back to the :sandbox: where life was simple
