  1. Is it in sports mode? I'm not sure how the non-hybrids are setup, but in the hybrid you have a setting in the computer for Sports or Normal mode. In sports mode I get horrid MPG... not sure if the standard engine has that option or not. BTW, if you're filling up every several days (a assume 3 days since that is what several typically means), then you're averaging around 90 miles per day. At that consumption you're only going to buy yourself 1 or 2 days more if you can reach the 26 mpg on the sticker. Regardless, I would expect a higher number than 15 unless you're heavy footed and the turbo is kicking in a lot. Take it to the dealer and have them look into it. If it's only at 3k, they should be willing to jump through hoops for you.
  2. There was/is a ticket on it for the MKX... not sure if the MKz had/has similar issues... Looks like there was/is a TSB on the MKz 2007 too (see below quoted for MKX and then following for the MKz TSB 08-13-08 )...
  3. If I remember correctly, when they did my "fix" they had to have both keys to reprogram... also, my door access codes where whipped out and the master code had changed. FYI.
  4. For $ 2,000, It seems they are just replacing it... not upgrading it.
  5. I coud live with the exterior design changes, but I hate that they have a cluttered center stack. I rather like the sleek clean look of my 2014 MKZh center stack without the clutter of knobs and buttons.
  6. Ouchy... USAA had me take it to a very reputable shop for estimate, but they were unable to take it into repair for another two weeks. They did the damage appraisal for USAA and then gave me a recommendation on where to take it. The place the recommended is the shop I would prefer to take it to. They have done extensive work on our company vehicles for many years and have an outstanding reputation in this area. USAA told me I could take it to whatever shop I wanted to and they would supplement cost for additional repairs to that shop. They just require an base estimate from their shop first. I would take it to the local dealer, but I had minor bump in the rear end a few months ago that was a separate insurance claim and their repair left a lot to be desired. The shop I have it at now has already told me that they will take the car to the Lincoln dealership to disconnect the hybrid system and for any hybrid repairs, but all body work will be completed by them (not Lincoln), which is what I want. The PanaRoof held up just fine. It opens and closes and tracks without issue. I'm not sure how fast the car that hit me was going. I was at a redlight turning right waiting for traffic to clear, so I was not looking in the RW mirror. My guess is she thought I had cleared the intersection and gunned it to try and squeeze into traffic. Best guess is 15 to 20 mph... it was a pretty good thump and although I was not hurt, I was pretty soar two days later... Now on to more important things... puppy pictures.
  7. Well... got rammed pretty good by an Escalade the other day. Luckily she had USAA insurance and they have been really good to deal with. Let me tell you, these hybrids can be expensive to fix. I didn't think the damage looked too bad; However, initial estimate by USAA insurance is $ 9k and the guy told me he really expects at a minimum 2k extra and maybe A LOT more if the batteries are damaged. The compartment holding them was buckled, so he isn't holding out much hope there isn't some damage in there, but won't be able to tell until the Collision center tears it down. Told me not to worry, that the collision center will be able to supplement the estimate once they have it in shop. Most important thing is everyone was ok... including my puppy, who was buckled up in the back seat.
  8. Do some research, I think if you change the speakers/amps out you may have issues concerning the3 Bose noise cancelling...
  9. Make sure you're not is sports mode... My MPG drops to the 25 range when I run it in sports mode, even when not driving "sporty"
  10. On the messaging seats... mine shorted out and the service department said there was a known service ticket on that issue... mine is a 2014, so not sure if they fixed it prior to yours, but worth asking about.
  11. I guess so you could tether your car to your phone's internet and then use the cars WiFi as a hot spot for other devices... such as a wifi tablet...
  12. I bought my wife an ATS at the same time I bought my 14 MKzh... The caddy has a better build quality, although I love my MKz and am completely happy with it.
  13. Posted this in a different thread so I just cut and pasted it here... As a 6k mileage update on the new tires and am SO happy... it's such a nice ride and so quite. I'm not sure I remember what the OEM's felt like new, but it was/is such a noticeable difference between the worn OEM's and the Perilli, it's almost like a new car. One note, the Perilli can be a bit difficult to get balanced correctly, so don't be shy in going back to have them adjusted. Kauffman tire gave me that warning and I did go back one time for a small adjustment on the front right, but since then it's been smooth like butter. Tread warranty is supposed to be 70k... so let's hope it last more than the OEM's ;)
  14. What source are you using for the audio? I have none of those issues when I play a CD or use USB High quality lossless WMA. I do see that issue when using Bluetooth audio/Sirius/or lower quality mp3's. Not saying this is the case, but sometime a better sound system amplifies the crappy audio sources/mp3's we tend to use...
  15. Just replaced the Michelin MXM4 OEM at 30,000 on my 2014 MKZh with the Cinturato Perilli P7 Plus in a 245-40-19 for under $900.00 installed. I can say without a doubt that they are super quiet and smooth on the road. Maybe the Michelin had gotten a bit noisy with the wear, but it was a noticeable difference between the two tires and I'm very happy with my choice.
  16. I thought the airbag issue had to do with the shards of metal fragments flying out of the airbag when deployed. I don't think it had anything to do with something the airbag light would come on for, FYI. So... I'm not sure how they can say you're safe, except that the % of failure are extremely low so the odds would most likely be in your favor. Unless you're that one lucky dude that wins the lottery... just saying ;)
  17. Michael, I live in the Atlanta area and have absolutely no issues with reception on the radio (AM/FM/HDFM). We are about 45 minutes outside the city (most of the radio towers are located in the city proper). Compared to my former Audi A4, the MKz get's better reception in both the AM and FM bands. FYI.
  18. Don't count on it... it didn't work last summer, so I doubt it will be working this summer... unless they put a fix in a software update. BTW, it is working as designed... it's just a poor design ;(
  19. Because the smart engineers at Ford don't know about Daylight time... The GPS satellites just spit out steady signal... the programmers are supposed to compensate for Daylight time; however, Ford seemed to forget that step.
  20. Is that a typo on the "6-years" prepaid Sirius traffic link? The entertainment side of the Sirius is only a "6-month" prepaid.
  21. turned out to not be the "break in"... they had a manufacturing "defect" in the size of the piston that were slightly smaller than they should have been, allowing oil to pass the rings. My Audi started off at around 30k miles needing 1,500 - 2,000 needing a quart (that's when I had Audi first check the engine). By the end of the 3rd year of ownership (90k miles) it was at a quart every 200-400 miles. I loved my Audi... but wouldn't buy another one seeing how Audi/VW NA treated me on a situation they KNEW was an issue. I'm sure every manufacturer has their own issues... as such, Ford won't be without theirs. What should define a good company is how they deal with those issues. Audi, decided to tell me to pound sand knowing they had an issue. That being said, I wouldn't expect the Original Poster will be buying another Ford with the way they are treating him on an obvious defect.
  22. It's not unique to Ford either... my previous Audio A4 had engine troubles and it burned a quart of oil every 200-400 miles. Audi told me this was "normal". Months later they told me I needed a new engine to fix the issue at my cost (10k+). I had done every service interval at the same dealership and had all paper work for that and yet Audi NA told me to pound sand as my car was out of warrant (although the oil issue was brought up during the warranty period... I put over 30k miles a year, so we burn the warranty pretty quickly). Yes, I was putting oil in the car just about every other day... I got to the point where I would take it to the dealership and have them "top off" the oil... The Dealership was helpful in that way, they were happy to try and help me out never charging me to top off and agreed what Audi NA said wasn't reasonable. Instead of fighting it... got rid of the car and bought the Lincoln. 6 months later I got a letter in the mail stating that Audi/VW NA had settled a class action law suit on the issue and that if I had paid for the repair, they would reimburse me or if the repair still needed to be done, they would cover the cost...
  23. sync 3 is based off blackberry and not Microsoft... they kicked Microsoft to the curb. My guess is this will be a much better integration than the MS platform was. MS didn't put any time/money into it and blackberry can't afford not to make it work... Personally, I like the clean look of the no buttons. I'm not sure I would have bought it with dials/knobs/buttons... I do most things voice activation anyway.
  24. try tweeting a picture of the issue to @LincolnClient I wouldn't get all "bowed up" in the tweet... but I would ask for help from them and state the facts. I have found that twitter is a great resource to get resolution on a lot of issue like this. Sometimes when it's in the face of the public eye, it get's more attention.
  25. 2014 MKz owned for 8 months with 18,000 miles and no issue. I use the trunk often too.
