  1. 2011 MKZ AWD. Have 45k on the car. Live in the North East Average 26-27 straight highway Summer 19-20 combined mixed 60% city 40% highway Winter 17-18 combined mixed 60%-40% Overall the mpg estimates have met my expectations. It still boggles me how the AWD version gets as good gas millage as SUVs or even some trucks. I probably drive 7-8k miles a year so gas millage isn't a huge deal but next MKZ I will defiantly not opt for AWD.
  2. So a maddening thing happened today. But my story goes back a couple weeks ago. I park on the street and usually I have no problems but one day (3 weeks ago) some Chinese guy asked me to move my car since he has a "big" car (Lexus RX) and I said why? He got mad for questioning him and cursed at me and spoke a bunch of Chinese mumble jumble. The next day he spray painted neon green paint on the sides of the end of driveway on the curb, but some of the spray got on my chrome wheels. I confronted him about it and he said he did spray the paint but refused to pay to get it off and it cost me $60 to get it detailed. Yesterday I parked about a block away but on the same street to avoid the Chinese d bag. I wake up this morning to check on my car and I see hug key marks all over the car. Literally there isn't a panel that isn't damaged besides the hood and bumpers. I am furious at this point and I slam on his door and confront him and he says he has nothing to do with it and I can't prove anything and you know what? The sad part is the stupid Chinese man is right. No cameras around and no one saw anything, so legally nothing I can do. I guess this is where the semi happy news comes in. Since this was considered vandalism my insurance covered everything besides my $250 deductible and since almost every panel was touched and because they want to properly match the paint they are repainting the whole outside of the car. As I mentioned in the previous post my rear bumper and front bumper had some touch up fixes down which came put sub par at best since it's almost impossible to replicate tri coat paint on touch up kits and because the plastic bumpers had become discolored. So the good news is my bumpers will actually match the rest of the paint and I am getting a freshly painted car. The estimate came to $5300, but thank god for insurance lesson I hate chinese people, btw I am Korean
  3. @bfacor84 the 2.0 I drove was also an AWD but I had the moonroof open the whole time and stereo on pretty loud so I didn't hear any noise cancellation activity. the VHR what phone service do you use? Your little problems would drive me nuts. Awesome car but for $40K+ I want a temperature gauge to work or I know Infiniti, Lexus, or Mercedes would love my business
  4. My brother saw a 2008 MKZ the other day and mentioned how he liked the grill better compared to my 2011. While I love the large toothy grill of the 2010-2012s the previous versions grill was more Continental like
  5. Did you drive the 2.0? I drove a 2.0 loaner after I test drove a 3.7 and to be honest the 2.0 was just as good as my 3.5 2011. The 3.7 indeed has more go, but since the 2.0 is so good maybe that is why the 3.7 are so rare. No matter what engine the new 2013-2014 are defiantly more smooth compared to past gens.
  6. this is Consumer and Reports biggest qualm with Lincoln in general the electronic and Lincoln My Touch system reliability. Lincoln for what its worth has great service at least at the dealer I go to (Lincoln of Wayne) but the reliability and recalls on the 2013-2014 killed the idea of buying a new gen. Saved money and got a 2011 which was ranked one of the most reliable cars. Will wait a few more gens to see if Lincoln improves
  7. I clean my leather every month or so. I use Lexol leather cleaner and Turtle Wax leather conditioner The drivers seat and passenger get the most wear so sometimes I just rub some conditioner periodically on those seats to prevent creasing and crackling. You could go with higher quality product but I am not sure you would see much difference.
  8. White cars are hard to take car of, they show dirt and grime a lot and touching up is a pain. I bought my 2011 MKZ with platinum white metallic tri coat. Ford/Lincoln charges a premium for. When I bought the car it looked absolutely brilliant in the showroom. White brings a brilliance and sense us class to any car. The Metallic tri-coat is so pretty because the metallic coat has a shiny blue tinge to it giving the mundane white sparkle and brilliance. The problem with this is matching paint for this color combo. On most Ford/Lincoln cars this white suffers from dis colorization. The plastic bumpers seem darker in color than the metal parts of the car. Two weeks into owning my car someone taped bumper by the rear licence plate and a pin sized piece of paint chipped off. Living in NYC I try to tell myself it isn't if but when accidents like this will happen. Still I owned the car for only two weeks and seeing the black primer against the stark white bumper made the mark really noticeable even though the chip was tiny. Researching how bad Lincoln's touchup pen was I decided to get tri-coat touchup from TouchUpDirect from EBay since it wasn't an all in one pen. Since the bumper is ever so slightly discolored compared to the metal parts of the car, the base white coat looked like whiteout and was too bright. The metallic coat was a bit watery even with a generous shake and the paint didn't have the shimmer of the factory paint. The topcoat sealed up the job. Overall the paint is serviceable and the paint can't be noticed a few yards away, but up close the spot looks very white. I had 2-3 rock chips on my front bumper. Again it came out alright but looks like if someone had acne scars or discoloration marks on their face. Overall a beautiful color that shows the chrome accents off very well unlike the silver/grey colors. BUT if your anal about scratches or discoloration this paint is not for you. anyone have any suggestions for touchup for platinum white metallic tri coat
  9. Two months ago got a CPO 2011 MKZ AWD, platinum white metallic tri coat, chrome package, moon roof. Had 38K on it. Came with the chocolate interior. Got it for $19k and change Traded in my 2010 Accord Coupe EX-L V6. Car was more striking compared to the MKZ but the coupe lacked practicality and the car was borderline useless in the snow since I live in NY. Got the car at Wayne Motors NJ, which I would highly recommend So far the car has been great besides: Noticed one of the LED bulbs on the taillight strip was out. Called thinking I could just pickup a bulb and have my mechanic do it, but he said the whole taillight is one module and it would cost $400! I called the dealer and they said they would replace it. 2-3 days later brought it in and they fixed it. Second problem was a bit more serious. After long rides of 30 miles or more my girlfriend and I would notice the smell of gas. After some quick web searching it came apparent this was probably the PTU. Brought it in and they diagnosed it as a PTU problem. I thought they would just replace the seal but they actually replaced the whole PTU. So far no more gas smell Overall pleased with the car. Amazed how much quieter it is compared to my Accord. While the seats don't have the bolstering a German or even Japanese luxury car would have, they are very comfortable and have very soft leather and are handsome looking with the tuxedo trim. The car's steering has a nice heavy feel compared to my Accord or most Acura's but you defiantly don't want to power into turns with the MKZ since it is a bit soft. Acceleration isn't top of its class but with a 3.5 V6 263 HP engine you will be able to make any pass and feel comfortable doing so. The engine doesn't have the sweet sound of a Honda V6 and it can be a bit course at higher RPMs. The MPG for the AWD version is 17-24 or 19 combined. I live in NYC and I have been getting 20-21 overall MPG. To best sum up the car I would say the 2010-2012 MKZ is a mix between a Chrysler 300 and a Lexus ES. The MKZ has the bold American grill paired with gotti amounts of chrome similar to a Chrysler, but is like a Lexus ES in terms of comfort, reliability, and price. I have driven 2013-2014 MKZs on two occasions. Once before I bought my 2011, but decided to not go with a new gen 2013 because the price was 50% more and because every new model is filled with problems. The second time I drove a new MKZ was when my car was in the shop. This time I had the car for 24 hours and I really started to notice the differences in the new gen and previous gen. First the 2.0 ecoboost is great and is just as good as the old 3.5 in terms of shifts and acceleration. You only notice the difference between the 2.0 ecoboost and the 3.5 if you pound it or at high speeds. Secondly I originally dismissed the Lincoln Mytouch system and while it still isn't practical since you have to take your eyes off the road most of the time to operate anything, the 2014 model seemed to have better response and having used the car for a full day I got used to the system. The styling on the new version I was never in love with but after using the car for a day It really grew on me. The lack of shifter and having a console that wraps around you makes you feel like your in a cockpit. Plus the car itself looks like a spaceship, especially the rear. The styling in the new gens look completely different compared to the 2010-2012 MKZ and Fusions which looked a tad too similar. The new gen still kept the bridge of weir leather but stylized it more like modern day luxury car and really added a ton of cushioning. The new gen kept the real wood accents but instead of just placing a line of wood across the console horizontally they actually shaped the wood and used it as stylized accents. Overall the car feels more refined. Overall I am a Lincoln believer, but after the handful of recall the new MKZ faces I a not sure if I will be buying a new one for at least a couple generations. If Lincoln can fix the MKZ problems which aren't minor such as improper passenger seat welding, Hybrid problems with the transmission shifting when in park, engine block heater electrical issues, and fuel delivery module cracking.
  10. Just picked up a CPO 2011 MKZ AWD last weekend. Got home last night and went to go get something out of my car and hit the unlock on the key fob and noticed two of the center right LED lights were out. Called today and my dealer said they don't replace individual lights but the whole board (pricey) not wanting to pay the $400 some off dollars people have been listing on the forum I quickly told them I just bought the car and asked if it was under warranty They said it was and to bring it in to be evaluated and then they will order the parts and call me when they come in Sounds good, but I live 40 minutes away in NY and the dealer is in NJ, just a waste of time, gas, and tolls for something that should have been noticed during the extensive 200 point inspection. Other than that the car so far is great.
