bbf2530 got a reaction from 17MKZ3.0TT in Mkz windshield trim
Hi Brads600 and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Most modern vehicles no longer utilize "windshield molding or trim". It gives the vehicle a more finished look (according to opinion, of course), and better aerodynamics also.
Good luck.

One from a while back. AMT 1965 Continental with some 3D printed wheels and supercharged DOHC modular V8. I'm currently working on the Mark VII pro Street kit that's currently reissued.

Been a while but...
My 2010 is still packed away. My neighbor runs a body shop and he's asking about buying it as a loaner car. He might get it yet.🤣
My other neighbor has a 2017 MKZ with a 2.0 turbo and she's looking at something a little newer. Trouble is, her sister has a 2020 model with the same engine, and it's in the shop for an engine replacement. Granted, hers is under warranty but that doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the 2.0 turbo.
I do have the local dealer on the lookout for a 2017-2020 Continental, so far haven't heard from him yet. It's funny, last year they'd have at least a couple on the lot but now all they have are trucks and crossovers. I wouldn't object to a similar vintage MKZ, obviously, maybe without the 2.0, but driving the Townie these last few months has really reminded me how much I always liked the full size cars.
What I'm saying is... I still haven't really made up my damned mind. 😂

bbf2530 reacted to ballscout1 in 3G to 4G Modem upgrade with used (recycled) parts
I have a 2015 MKZ and about a year ago I upgraded my Sync 2 to Sync 3. I have been reading this topic and others like it for the last couple of months and decided to try my hand at upgrading the modem to 4g.
Well, today I did it, and although there were some things I couldn't figure out I got through it without bricking the modem or my car.
I couldn't find a Hj5t-14g087-uf modem at a reasonable price so I decided to give it a go with a jl3t-14g087-cf.
So Start Stop Lock and Unlock work and it monitors fuel level, oil life and tire inflation.
I couldn't figure out how to monitor the TCU to see signal strength and the status of the module among other things
Also, I saw images that in addition to start and lock and unlock also had lights and horns.I don't have those.
I also saw it mentioned that you had to plug in your old antennae cable as well as the $g cable but my old cable didn't fit on the tan connection so I only have the 4g antenna attached to the purple connection on the modem.
I do have a GPS antenna that was installed in the front of the car when I upgraded Sync.
Anyway, I am excited it worked and want to thank each one who spent their time sharing info and instructions so that those of us with no clue could make this happen.
Thanks so much and enjoy your holidays

bbf2530 reacted to kramf411 in Brake Hose Recall
I also sent an email to the service manager and called the dealership immediately. But being a weekend, the service manager is not there neither was the service advisor who handled my recall.
I had several service issues with this dealership so am I bit wary of bringing my vehicle for service there. The service manager is very accommodating though - it is the people who perform the job they are supposed to be an expert that I have mixed feelings.
Any wild guess what would have happened if I hadn't found out? I will ask Ford.
Happy Weekend and Thanks for replying.

You are correct about it being upside down, too. I already flipped it before I sent the update here. That part is now tight and not moving at all.

bbf2530 reacted to jimflutes in throttle body service
bbf2530 good to hear from you , From what I now read about this service is that it is good to have it done but it is not needed this early in the cars history . I also ask them to check a tire for a slow leak , the tech guy said he did all kinds of test but could not find it , next day I went to a family run shop and he found it in 5 mins , it was a simple faulty tire valve ! So it is lesson learned , and I much rather give my business to the family shop , for some reason I thought that since the Lincoln dealership knows Lincoln cars you would get more of a knowledgeable service . On the plus side I am still enjoying this car ( 2018 MKZh select ) every time I get into it . Stay well , Jim Ferere

Creeping up on 200k, I've replaced a couple of outer tie rod ends, seat heat/cool module, 12v battery, and a couple of pad/rotor changes. 2nd owner, I purchased in September of 2016 with 38,000 miles on it(for $14,000).

bbf2530 got a reaction from Trengey64 in 11 speaker audio system speaker replacement in '17 MKZ
Hi Trengey64 and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Did you call Crutchfield and speak with one of their product and installation specialists? If not, that is what I would recommend you do. Call and ask the professionals what would be best.
Let us know how you make out and good luck.

bbf2530 got a reaction from Trengey64 in 11 speaker audio system speaker replacement in '17 MKZ
Hi Trengey. There are one or two audiophiles here with the knowledge to possibly assist you, if they are still around to see your questions. Perhaps one of them will jump in to help.
In the meantime...I am shocked that Crutchfield would direct you here for expert audio information. If no one jumps in here to help, my best advice would be to call Crutchfield back and get another representative.
Otherwise, I would recommend you order and purchase the correct Factory/OEM Revel speaker to replace the blown one. That can be done via the Parts Department at your local Lincoln or Ford Dealer (have your VIN handy). Or you can get the part number from them and use it to online shop for a better price.
Keep us updated and good luck.

bbf2530 reacted to Dino in Highest Odometer Reading
2013 MKZ AWD, it now has 276,000 on it and runs, drives like it has 50,000. No knocks, pings, leaks, and everything works on it. Doesn't look bad either, I would drive it across the country and not think twice about it. I did recently have to change the water pump, that's a bitch job to do. But it got me inside the motor to give a through inspection and a chance to clean the VVT solenoids and check the timing chain and tensioner, You would never had known the mileage looking at the internals.

Went with option 4. ? 2004 Signature. It's not dark colored but silver looks good. 110k and I'm the third owner. Tomorrow or Saturday the MKZ will be squirrelled away as I begin to gather up the parts to repair it. Rock Auto discount codes, don't fail me now. ?

bbf2530 got a reaction from gfong in Lincoln MKZ 2.0 AWD question about differential
Hi nzkmxm. Yes, you should use the recommended specification, as per the 2017 Lincoln MKZ Owners Manual...which is the following:
The rear differential:
"Rear differential fluid (All Wheel Drive) (U.S. and Mexico):
Motorcraft® SAE 80W-90 Premium Rear Axle Lubricant
XY-80W90-QL"
The specification which the oil needs to "meet and/or exceed" is "WSP-M2C197-A". And no need for additives.
And the PTU:
"WSL-M2C192-A Power Transfer Unit fluid (All Wheel Drive) (U.S. and Mexico)
Motorcraft® SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Rear Axle Lubricant
XY-75W140-QL"
The specification which the oil needs to "meet and/or exceed" is "WSL-M2C192-A". And no need for additives.
Let us know who you make out and good luck.
