  1. Hi ZED. Hopefully easy diagnosis and fixes. Keep us updated and good luck. :)
  2. Hi fusionff. So...how are you liking your new MKZ so far? We want to know! :yahoo:
  3. Hi again geno. Did some quick Googling of "2007 Lincoln MKZ rocker panels" and can come up with multiple availability. Give it a try and let us know how you make out.
  4. Hi geno. If a body shop owner can not find the part, I'm stumped. I don't mean to question your friends expertise, but until another member here jumps in, the only recommendation I can think of is to ask another body shop if they can find the parts you are seeking. If they can't, I would have to assume they are not available. Let us know how you make out and good luck
  5. Hi Art. Thank you! Good to see you here too. I'll surely like the 2018. Before I ordered, a Lincoln Dealer in my area loaned me one for a weekend. It was the owners demo. A fully loaded red 3.0T AWD Reserve, with the Drivers Package, panoramic roof etc. My car exactly, except for the moonroof and exterior color. We loved it. Hope to have mine by mid to late next month. Thanks again for the welcome wagon! :)
  6. Hi risky. You're welcome and good luck. :)
  7. Hi Chris. If you had your oil change and tire rotation performed at a Lincoln/Ford Dealer (The Works package), it should have included the Multi-Point Vehicle inspection. That inspection pretty much includes everything necessary in a 30,000 mile service (assuming no notable service interval differences with the Hybrid models) since other than an oil/filter and tire rotation, it mainly consists of check-this and check-that, and those checks are part of "The Works". You can see exactly what each recommended service includes by checking the Maintenance Schedule you received when you purchased your car. By being acquainted with your vehicles recommended service schedule, you can avoid feeling pressured. Hope this information helps.
  8. Hi guys. First, just as an FYI - According to the Owners Manual, the factory fill and oil specified for our cars is a synthetic blend (one that meets the WSS-M2C946-B1 specification), not a full synthetic. Zed, given the two options you describe, whichever is more convenient and cost effective would be the best choice. If you trust your friend more, go with him. And as Izzy mentioned, be sure to get itemized receipts for each and every oil change, in case you ever have an engine related warranty issue which can even remotely be connected to oil changes. As far as a "higher quality oil": Motorcraft synthetic blend is a high quality oil, so assuming proper maintenance and oil change intervals, using anything else will give negligible benefits at best. Just be sure the oil you use meets or exceeds the Owners Manual listed description and specification: An SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP, meeting or exceeding a specification of WSS-M2C946-B1. So bottom line, decide by convenience and cost. Good luck. Edit - After reading the excellent points posted below by drolds, MKZ, and fusionff, I wanted to add that personally, I use my Lincoln/Ford Dealer for "The Works" package (oil/filter change, tire rotation and multi-point vehicle inspection) with the online available online coupons. It is a great deal and does help establish a relationship with my Dealer other than possible warranty work, which always helps, as mentioned below.
  9. Hi risky. I downloaded the PDF version of the 2013 MKZ hybrid Owners Manual. Look on pages 266-267. It is listed as "Powerpoint 1 - drivers front" (not "cigarette lighter"). They show it as a 20A, M-type fuse, located at position 10 in the Power Distribution Box. For the location of the Power Distribution box and other fuse box locations, types of fuses etc, refer to your Owners Manual, pages 265-276. And if you are referring to the powerpoints in the console or back seat area, check those pages in the Owners Manual for location and type. They are listed as "Powerpoint 1 - drivers front", "Powerpoint 2 - console", "Powerpoint 3 - Back of console" etc. Hope this helps and good luck.
  10. Hi fusionff. Your new MKZ looks great! Congratulations and best of luck! :shift: :clapping:
  11. Hi fusionff. Thank you! Everything but the rear sunshade and panoramic or single panel moonroofs. A moonroof cuts a little too much into the headroom for me. Can't wait until it's in. In the meantime, I am living vicariously through you and hoping all goes well with your Black Label tomorrow! Good luck! :shift: :clapping:
  12. Hi fusionff. Your car sounds great! Details on my order: 2018 MKZ Reserve 3.0T AWD Magnetic Gray Drivers Package Technology Package Luxury package Climate Package Premium Carpeted Floor Mats All Weather Floor Mats Cargo Net Dealer said 6-8 weeks (my last one took 6 to the day), so hopefully in by mid-May. I decided to hold the order so that the winter would be over when the car arrives. I hope they can have the roads in NJ cleared for you Friday! Best of luck and let us know how it goes! :clapping:
  13. Hi Izzy and fusionff. Thank you for the warm welcome! I hope the snow doesn't delay you taking home your MKZ, fusionff. And we really are on very similar timetables! We are passing on my wife's car to a family member when the new MKZ arrives. We also contemplated ordering the Black Label trim as you did. Unfortunately, we definitely did not want a moonroof, and the single panel moonroof is standard equipment on the Black Label. Additionally, there is no Black Label certified dealer within what we consider reasonable driving distance for service, unlimited car washes etc., which negated some of the Black label benefits. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take from your order placement to arrival?
  14. Hi everyone. I'm a previous MKZ owner and a long time forum member, so more of a reintroduction than an introduction here. :) I just ordered my 2018 MKZ Reserve 3.0T AWD last Friday. Looking forward to taking delivery in about 8 weeks. I hope to become more active here again and help out wherever possible. Good luck to all. :shift:
  15. Hi william. As others have mentioned, your wheels are protected with a clear coat paint, just like your cars paint finish. Therefore, you clean and protect them the same way you would your cars paint. Wash thouroughly with a good quality car soap and then wax with a good quality car wax or dedicated wheel wax. And although there are many good quality auto detailing products, as some have mentioned above, I also prefer Meguiar's. Good luck.
  16. Thanks Robert. Used to have that link. Was looking for it in my saved links so I could post it here and could not find it! Good luck.
  17. Hi cliff. Yes, congratulations and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum and Club! Good luck!
  18. Hi Tucker. Every state has it's own laws concerning which windows can be tinted and how dark they can be tinted. Although the term "limo tint" is rather vague, very few states allow tint as dark as what "most" people (or at least I) would consider to be "limo tint". Therefore, everyone should consult their states motor vehicle laws or be sure the shop they use knows the law and follows it (if they wish to avoid being ticketed and fined). Good luck.
  19. Hi Keith. Congratulations and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum! Good luck.
  20. Hi fumar86. I like Meguiars products. I have been using their Gold Class wax for years and am very happy with the results. Mothers also makes very good products. Keep in mind that no spray wax will give you the protection of a good liquid or paste wax. Also keep in mind that while clay bars are good for removing paint contamination, old wax etc, you need to rewax any/all areas after you clay, since the paint will be completly unprotected after claying. In between waxes and washes, you can remove tree sap and bird droppings with a good spray detailer, such as Meguiar's Spray Detailer. Keep a bottle of it along with a good microfiber or 100% cotton towel in your car for quick cleanups. Good luck.
  21. Hi 1984Poke. While it won't hurt to have the Dealer check it out, what you describe sounds like normal operation. When first cold starting and once the engine has warmed up, the EATC system will run the fan/blower on high to warm up the passenger compartment/cabin as quickly as possible. Additionally, it will put airflow through the defroster vents, and I find them to usually be the loudest, since the windshield deflects the sound into the passenger compartment. Then, as the passenger compartment/cabn warms up, the fan/blower speed will decrease. Anyway, get it checked if you think there is an issue and keep us updated. Good luck.
