  1. Hi Brads600 and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Most modern vehicles no longer utilize "windshield molding or trim". It gives the vehicle a more finished look (according to opinion, of course), and better aerodynamics also. Good luck.
  2. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! 🎄
  3. Hi tpz76. You can try the various online Ford parts sellers. Many will offer well below MSRP pricing. Google "Online Ford Parts sellers" for a listing of the many Ford Dealers who sell online. Then check with as many as you wish to find the best price. If you do not have the correct part number handy, you can obtain it from the Parts Department at your local Dealership. Have your VIN handy. Or take a look here: https://www.google.com/search?q=2012+MKZ+rear+right+taillight+housing&client=firefox-b-1-d&sca_esv=593314887&ei=PEqHZYfFAcSJptQP7vaguAg&ved=0ahUKEwiH0-njuaaDAxXEhIkEHW47CIcQ4dUDCBA&oq=2012+MKZ+rear+right+taillight+housing&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiJTIwMTIgTUtaIHJlYXIgcmlnaHQgdGFpbGxpZ2h0IGhvdXNpbmcyChAhGKABGMMEGAoyChAhGKABGMMEGAoyChAhGKABGMMEGAoyChAhGKABGMMEGApI2ZUBUPwLWIKNAXACeAGQAQCYAWKgAdECqgEBNLgBDMgBAPgBAcICChAAGEcY1gQYsAPCAggQABiABBiiBMICCBAAGIkFGKIE4gMEGAAgQeIDBRIBMSBAiAYBkAYE&sclient=gws-wiz-serp Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  4. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃 Stay safe and good luck! 🍻
  5. Hi kramf, You are very welcome! No guesses, but it is certainly a much better situation to have it correctly installed, right-side up and tight. 🙃😉 And I would definitely recommend stopping by the Service Department one day to show your videos to the Service Advisor/Service Manager. They can't instruct the staff to do better if they don't know about the mistakes made. Let us know how you make out, and hope you also have a very happy weekend! 🍻
  6. Hi kramf. Hard to discern definitively in the photos videos, but it seems that bracket is not only loose, but is also upside down. It looks like the loose bracket in the first video should be flipped over, so that the raised side edges face up, and the tab should be inserted into the hole, as it is in the second video of the tight bracket. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, have the Service Department address it ASAP. And even if you decide to do it yourself, I would still stop by the Service Department to show them your videos, and have them double-check, re-torque and clean everything up. Keep us updated and good luck.
  7. Hi kramf. Go to the NHTSA website to see if your 2017 is included in the 2013-2018 brake hose recall which drolds1 referenced above: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls As a 2017, it would seem yours should be included. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  8. Hi jimflutes. Well, blind Internet diagnosis/opinion: Assuming you were having no driveability issues, and with the information you provided (~22,000 miles), my opinion would be no, it was not a needed service. And according to what type of method they used to "clean" the throttle body, it may have even been a Lincoln/Ford prohibited service. Many dealers will try to up-sell these services, which in many cases, are not necessary or needed. Good luck.
  9. Hi gang. 17MKZ3.0TT offered good information above. However, just to avoid confusion: Our MKZ engines are designed to run on fuel with a minimum octane of 87, and containing up to 15% ethanol (E15). They will get full advertised power using 93 octane, but will only suffer a loss of ~ 20-25 horsepower using 87 octane. And using 89-91 octane mid-grades will offer correspondingly lower ratio losses of horsepower than 87 octane. Full gas, non-ethanol fuels can be hard to find in many parts of the country, so have no worries about using E-10 fuels, or up to E-15, if it is all that is available. More important than octane (other than minimum 87) is to use good quality fuels. So try to only use Top Tier fuels from name brand stations, avoiding cheap, generic gas stations whenever possible. Essentially, if you really need full advertised power, use Top Tier, 93 octane fuels. If not, and you can get away with 375-380 horsepower in your daily drives, use 87 octane, save money and rest easy. Personally I use Top Tier, 87 octane fuel 95%+ of the time, unless I'm feeling a bit sporty. But then again, I do not drive my MKZ hard at all. All of the above being said, I would still recommend everyone read their Owners Manual section concerning correct fuels to use. Just look in the Index under "Fuel Quality" for the correct pages in your copy. Feel free to ask any questions, and good luck.
  10. Hi bgood. If your vehicle is a 2017 model year: In many states, the Lemon Law only applies to the original vehicle owner, and for first 2 years/24,000 miles. And there is no automotive Lemon Law for vehicles which are well outside the 4 year/50,000 mile New Vehicle Warranty. Essentially, if this is a used vehicle you purchased, your recourse would be within whatever your Dealer contract states, and/or any used vehicle laws apply in your state (if any). Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  11. Hi again all! The new SYNC 3 NAV map update..."NA 2 22"...is now available. My advice would be to wait a week or two before purchasing/downloading, to allow for any bugs in the update system to be worked out. Good luck.
  12. Hi drolds1. Yes, it seems we are! WoooHooo! 🤗
  13. Hi drolds1. I did not. However, my 2018 MKZ is running SYNC 3.0, while yours is running SYNC 3.4. So our versions may be (or likely are) different. Out of curiosity...my LincolnWay app last updated 2 days ago, and the current version is "4.29.1 USA". What is yours? Good luck.
  14. Hi gang. For those interested: The latest SYNC 3 map update will be available "on or near August 14th, 2023". https://syncnavigation.com/lincoln/home Good luck. ?
  15. Hi heyjewel. No, not the SYNC screen. That would possibly be the case if repairing/replacing SYNC (according to the underlying issue, of course). In your case, it would seem you need to replace/repair the FCIM/control panels for the audio and climate controls which are malfunctioning. The advantages to SYNC 3 are numerous. It is faster, more reliable, etc. etc. etc. It may be easier and you will find more information if you Google "SYNC 3 versus SYNC 2", "Advantages of SYNC 3 over SYNC 2" and other similar phrases. Let us know who you make out and good luck.
  16. Hi heyjewel. Here is a video demonstrating how to disassemble the center console and center stack area. While the instructions are aimed at upgrading MyLincoln Touch to SYNC 3 (something you may want to think about), following them will also allow you to access and remove the FCIM. Keep us updated and good luck.
  17. Hi heyjewel. There are companies/individuals who rebuild/refurbish the FCIM's for far less than that. Some will rebuild yours. You ship it to them, they rebuild it and ship it back to you. Others will sell you a refurbished one. Members here and on other forums have replaced theirs in that way. You may want to check around for one of those companies/individuals. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  18. Hi heyjewel. The console/audio control issue is most likely due to a failing/failed FCIM (Front Control Interface Module). It is not an unknown issue. The FCIM will need to be replaced or rebuilt. Keep us updated and good luck.
  19. Hi heyjewel. The first place to look would be a change in driving habits and/or environment. For example...seasonal changes in driving environment. If the temperatures lately are hot where you are, and you are using the A/C more than previously, that will result in a significant drop in fuel mileage for the season. Sometimes up to 25%. Another variable would be if you are driving more highway miles lately. Since the hybrid also uses regenerative braking to recharge the batteries, highway miles can result in a mpg hit, since it will result in less regenerative braking/more ICE engine usage, and thus...the possibility of lower fuel mileage. There are many other variables, but you get the idea. It is impossible to accurately determine if a "tune-up" will help, since that would depend on whether it is a tune-up curable type of issue. When was your last tune-up (plugs, engine air filter etc.)? Plugs are usually required to be changed at 100,000 miles on the ICE engines. I am not sure about the Hybrid, it may be the same or not. It would be good to change the engine air filter every 30,000 miles. You can find the Hybrid Maintenance Schedule in your Owners Manual. If the plugs or engine air filter etc. are due for a change, change them. All in all, a 2.5% drop in fuel mileage is usually not something to worry about. So keep an eye on it to see if it continues to drop precipitously. Keep us updated and good luck.
  20. Hi Chasetomasi and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. If you are referring to the 3.0T engine in the 2017+ MKZ's? No, do not use E-85 fuel. The engine is not E-85 compatible. Good luck.
  21. Hi heyjewel. That is only a difference of ~2.5%. It is negligible (even well within the margin of error), and could be due to anything. Higher ambient temperatures. Increased use of A/C. Slight differences in the driving environment which you would not even notice...etc., etc. It is nothing to be concerned about unless it keeps dropping at a higher rate. Keep us updated and good luck.
  22. Hi Trengey. There are one or two audiophiles here with the knowledge to possibly assist you, if they are still around to see your questions. Perhaps one of them will jump in to help. In the meantime...I am shocked that Crutchfield would direct you here for expert audio information. If no one jumps in here to help, my best advice would be to call Crutchfield back and get another representative. Otherwise, I would recommend you order and purchase the correct Factory/OEM Revel speaker to replace the blown one. That can be done via the Parts Department at your local Lincoln or Ford Dealer (have your VIN handy). Or you can get the part number from them and use it to online shop for a better price. Keep us updated and good luck.
  23. Hi Trengey64 and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Did you call Crutchfield and speak with one of their product and installation specialists? If not, that is what I would recommend you do. Call and ask the professionals what would be best. Let us know how you make out and good luck.
  24. Hi skipkern and welcome to the Lincoln MKZ Forum. Sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having exiting your MKZ. Unfortunately, other than raising the seat as high as comfortable, there is not much that can be done. You can only go so much larger in sidewall ratio/overall tire diameter in order to "raise" the vehicle, before the increased diameter would no longer fit without rubbing on the fender or suspension. And any benefit you would get before rubbing would occur will not be worth the cost of new tires (in my opinion). While I am sure this is not what you wish to do, but if it gets too difficult to exit your MKZ, selling it and purchasing a CUV with a higher seat hip-point would probably be the best course of action. I am sure others will have more advice to offer, so keep us updated and good luck. ?
  25. Hi Art. Happy to hear you were able to receive some compensation from Lincoln. Lincoln Concierge has been very generous to me over the course of the 5 years I have owned my 2018 MKZ. ? Good luck! ?
