  1. The 2017 MKZ has a 3G modem. Here's a copy of the letter sent to dealers.
  2. Does this happen when the car is stationary or when driving? There is a delay setting which keeps the reverse camera on until about 5 mph is exceeded. Changing the setting will make the camera shut off immediately when a forward gear is selected. If it's staying on all the time when driving, then you have a different issue.
  3. I got that message last month when my wife and I were both quarantining with COVID. We hadn't driven the car for 5 days. IIRC, it said something to the effect that there was nothing wrong and that the car just needed to be started and driven.
  4. Indeed. I've gotten that message several times, and it was not due to a failing battery; once when I was installing front and rear dashcams and had the car in 'Accessory' mode for extended periods for testing. That was about 2 years ago. Still on that battery.
  5. Some more details might be helpful, e.g., 2.0l or 3.7l, what diagnostics the dealer has run, how often this happens and under what conditions. Have you been able to demonstrate this to the service techs? It shouldn't be that difficult to diagnose if it happens while they have the car. They can connect the scan tool and freeze data when it happens.
  6. See this thread from focusfanatics.com. Although it concerns the Focus, that shouldn't matter for these purposes. In some cases, it took a week for the message to clear.
  7. Yup. And it's lighted, so you can see it at night. This is one of my wife's favorite features. Personally, I wouldn't want to do without that again.
  8. That was an improvement over my 2014 which had the button at the lower edge of the bumper cover, above the license plate. You had to feel around for it, and it was usually dirty. Are those chips in the paint, water spots, or something else?
  9. You've previously asked this question and responses were posted here. Accordingly, this thread is now closed. Please don't post the same question multiple times, especially when the original question has been answered.
  10. Beats Lexus ES. This is from the GM playbook: once the car is perfected, stop producing it.
  11. This tech didn't mention it other than to say he didn't think it was necessary to remove the ride height sensor from the control arm since he didn't move it that much. Of course, we don't know if there were any ill effects after the car was put back into service. This guy definitely says it's a necessity and that he performed the recalibration off camera using his own scan tool. In addition, see this thread.
  12. The famous failing internal water pump issue. https://fordauthority.com/2022/01/ford-duratec-v6-water-pump-lawsuit-certified-as-class-action-in-canada/
  13. It's been quite cold on the East Coast this weekend. Today, I had to run an errand and wanted to change the radio station using voice control. All I got what was a "No USB Inserted" message. As soon as the heat came on and the cabin warmed up, it was back to normal. Of course, relatively speaking, 41º was balmy by comparison. When the Lincoln MKS was introduced, there were common problems with the audio system in cold weather. On Friday, the display on my 1-month-old laptop went black. After speaking with tech support, parts are on order.? It seems that everything needs an occasional reboot these days. Last week, I opened my refrigerator and the temp readout indicated 276º in the freezer and 23º in the fridge part. The freezer was not on fire and the fresh part was not frozen. A check with a thermometer showed that the correct temps were being maintained in each part. I cut the power to the unit, and when power was restored, the freezer immediately showed 0º, but the fridge went to 50º. I was going to call for service in the morning, but when I got up, the fridge was showing 37º. Go figure. How many times have we gotten random messages in our cars that cleared after shut down and restart?
  14. I agree with the above. You should definitely have the shop correct this. It was careless of them not to protect the car from overspray. That said, a clay bar will remove overspray from paint as well as glass. You can also use a razor blade with lubricant on the glass. Overspray removal 101. i
  15. It's legit plus there's another one here.
  16. Make sure you have the latest version of the app.
  17. -The Lounge is for off-topic discussions. Questions and comments should be posted in the appropriate sub-forum. -You've already posted this question in another area and have gotten responses. Please don't create duplicate threads. This thread is now closed as it duplicates an existing one.
  18. I can't speak for anyone here, but all the information you need for this is contained in the thread on the FFF that you linked. Many owners have implemented this procedure and it does work. The Fusion and MKZ Hybrid powertrains are the same for this purpose.
  19. Welcome, LincolnFarmer. bbf2530 has covered your questions well. All I'd add is that the MKZ was available with a Sport Appearance Package in 2012. Among the features of this option was aluminum interior trim. IDK if these pieces are, or were ever, available for sale separately. If so, I'd expect them to be quite pricey. It was genuine aluminum. However, you could try eBay or salvage yards. There weren't many of these cars, so it might be a tough search. Just throwing it out there, though. Here are some examples of aftermarket kits: eBay
