Let me start by saying, this is a first. Usually I deem searching for a new car a not-so-fun event. I do not like the "can we put you in one of these today", "what would it take..." type of cheap, non-personal sales tactics - that clearly show me that the salesperson and the dealer are just 'beginners" at sales and do not understand that every sale is different and every customer is unique.
Now for my experience: After looking for a new hybrid (or plug in - we have had one for 10 years already - Honda), we looked at Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Tesla, Toyota. After visiting dealerships and reading about the technology and the models our final selections were - Ford, Kia, Chevy. The reason was it was those three was storage and fold down seats. (Notice Lincoln was not in the finalists).
We decided to venture out and actually drive the models. Just so happened that we drove by the Lincoln (next to Ford) dealer and happened in to look at the MKZ. It was the best 90 mins of MKZ introduction one could wish for. They had several models, colors, interior and options. My wife took a drive with the salesperson (John) and I kinda wandered around the lot looking at the 3.7 MKZ and the other hybrids. Then another guy came out and asked if I had any questions. I said no, my wife was out taking a drive. He said, yes he knew, and just wanted answer any questions. Then he said, hop in this one, let me show you a few things... 30 mins later I was an MKZ technologist (or enough to be dangerous). Come to find out later he was the sales manager (Todd).
When my wife returned from her (long) test drive, we compared notes. It was basically game, set and match - looking at the price vs. luxury, there is really little in the same ball park. We left the dealership with tons of information and an invitation to come back and allow them to answer any concerns or questions. Really at this point it was, what options would we like. We did continue to the other dealerships but the visits were brief when comparing their offerings to the MKZ.
For once, these guys (Sanderson Lincoln) made the purchasing of a car a pleasant experience. Of course the only option we did not get was the rear shade (not available with the pano roof) - Last note, the massage seats are the best!
Before you ask - I am not related to or have any interest in the dealership. This is just unsolicited praise for a unique car buying experience.
