  1. I have a 2009 with about 110,000 miles I am considering replacing the water pump as a preemptive repair. Up until this point I've done all the repairs on the car (albeit not many) myself and as long as I don't have to drop the engine and cradle out the bottom of the car as I do not have access to a lift. I'm otherwise comfortable replacing the pump and timing chains myself. So as a follow-up to this thread can the timing chain cover be removed without dropping the engine like the service manual claims? I don't mind cursing and swearing to get it out but I don't want to pull all the bolts and accessories only to find it isn't removable. Based upon what I can see when replacing the pump I might as well replace - timing chains timing chain gears timing chain guides and tensioners water pump inlet tube Probably won't change the VVT sprocket and solenoids in terms of quality I'm looking at either Ford/Motorcraft or Cloyes parts as I don't plan on doing the job a second time.
