  1. Thanks...that's what I thought but wanted to be sure
  2. I may need to replace this part in my 2007 MKZ and wondered if it's attached to the fuel pump (which I understand is accessible by removing the rear seat) or if it's located somewhere else, such as in another location in or on the gas tank? Thanks for any information you may have.
  3. Thanks for the info. I had no idea the factors that influence what I thought was a simple measuring device. I of course knew about idling, winter/summer driving and all the other things that can influence mileage. I apologize about not providing the car's year but I thought when I joined it was supposed to be included on each of my posts. It's a 2007 and well beyond any warranty coverage at 210,000 miles. It's a great car, my first MKZ and its' still running strong. As far as the DTE is concerned, I will just assume it's operating properly and needs no parts replaced to fix its behaviors, thanks to you guys.
  4. Greetings, I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question but I guess my question falls loosely under "navigation". Anyway, my distance to empty fuel readout is acting very odd. For example, last night I allegedly had 82 miles to empty when I left the house then drove the car about 15 miles round trip and when I returned home the readout was 53 miles to empty. Filling up the car also is variable. Sometimes it with read as high as 420 miles to empty or as low as 380. Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand this gauge cannot be reset like some other vehicles. I just wanted to ask the board if this is a fuel sending unit malfunction or something else. Thanks very much for taking time to review my question.
