  1. I'm replacing the whole plug every 3-4 oil changes. Probably not necessary but the plug costs only $5-6.
  2. drolds1,

Do you know where is the Mass Air Flow sensor located on the 3.0L engine? I'm thinking of spraying some CRC valve cleaner into the engine but after the MAF?

The MAF is located in the intake tract, as on all cars.  This is an example (not your engine). Himage.png.f32fb16b4b55750d28924c42ae9fb11e.png

However, as we've cautioned several times in the past, DO NOT spray any kind of cleaners or solvents into a Ford turbocharged engine.  There is no FoMoCo-approved method of cleaning deposits from the intake valves other than replacing the heads.  Should a chunk of carbon come loose as a result of the cleaner and get into a turbo, it will result in an expensive repair that won't be covered under your 6/70 powertrain warranty.  Even if that scenario doesn't occur, the relatively cold solution hitting the very hot turbo blades could result in thermal shock. IOW, stop thinking about spraying anything into your intake tract on this engine.

      Got it. Thank you.

  3. I have the 3.0t engine. I contacted JLT a while ago, they didn't have one for this engine at the time. I'll contact them again.
  4. Which catch can kit did you have installed on your engines? Do you guys have the 4 or 6 cylinder engines?
  5. Not sure if reving up the engine would help with the carbon build-up behind the valves.
  6. TomV & bbf2530, thank you both for the good info. My 2017 has the 3.0 twin turbo V6 engine. Got close to 15K miles on it and so far it runs great.
  7. Thank you both for your good advise on the technical and warranty aspects of this subject.
  8. Hi, I'm new to this forum and I have a question re. oil catch cans. I have an 2017 MKZ with the 3.0t V6, has anyone installed such a catch can on this engine, does it work, is it necessary to prevent heavy intake valve build-up?
