  1. Great points re loaners and such, for sure I will ask about that when I bring it in for an oil change within the month.
  2. "Ford firmly denies wrong-doing" That's too bad, when you make a boo-boo, you should raise your hand and say, "I screwed up, and I'll make it right" . It was so bad that it affected the entire Consumer Reports rating (based on the car owners' own reports) and no doubt hurt sales. If it's not working, who's fault was it? The lawyers that wrote and/or approved a deal with a subcontractor? In-house engineers? It certainly wasn't because of car buyers sending too small a check to pay for the car.
  3. Agreed, and that's why I stopped by the Ford dealer after I bought the MKZ to check and see if they'd rather I drove the additional half hour to the nearest Lincoln dealer (whom I don't already have any relationshp with. For anything simple I should be ok IMHO, and if they can't find a clunk and I can, then the Lincoln dealer is an option. Due to the Ford line's many turbo vehicles, I can at least be confident the correct oil is available. Sadly, can anyone be 100% sure that's what's being used...
  4. Thanks, I always run vehicle tires at vehicle mfrs directed pressures, but was asking in case those with "great" MPG might be running over-inflated (which I wouldn't do even if others were) The only exception has been motorcycle tires, where many large touring bike tires will wear badly and handle like crap at normal speeds unless you run an extra 3-5 lbs. Go figure, right? Edit; with the lousy pothole-filled roads around my town, 3 out of the 4 rims on my STS needed to be repaired (correctly, on a press) so sadly, I'm familiar with the downside of my 19" rims.
  5. My primary reason for having the MKZ is touring, and I'm not doing 500 mile weekends based on a map of charging stations, or the 150 miles (plus any side diversion miles) to our RV trailer "up nort" only to lose use of it/plug it in when I get up there. A hybrid may be my next touring car, but not an all-electric.
  6. I feel the same, as I have other vehicles that keep the mileage low on them, but there's always the chance of theft or an accident, and it saddens me that replacement choices may be a dozen "second bests". I have a full-sized E350 van, so no need or want of a non-sedan to replace my MKZ with SUV, and a 2-seater convertible, so no way I'll downsize into an econobox from the MKZ, either. If FOMCO really drops everything traditionally Lincoln, I suppose the market will step up, but my switch from Buick to Caddy was not pleasant some years ago, and Caddy has not had a good rep lately from what I read. I like the look of the CTS, ATS, whatever TS, cars, but not the mfr. of them. Changing of the guard...
  7. ugh, unless you own a Jaguar dealership, you don't want to drive a Jag. Nothing but problems.
  8. Awesome, in Comfort Mode, on trips running 89 oct. averaging maybe 80% HWY/20%CTY and keeping it 72mph or under, I've never averaged better than 28mpg and it does really fall off at 75mph. Maybe I'll hit 30 mpg avg. one of these days. ? Do you folks run the tire pressures listed on the door sticker? (don't remember what they are, but that's what I've kept them at.)
  9. Bought it last year with under 12k miles on it, so I have no idea of it's prior possible impacts. Car looks like it was built yesterday and not the hint of a rattle anywhere. The clunk was absolutely a driveline noise, seemed to be closer to the left (inside of turning radius) of the car than the center. I'm going to make sure I can duplicate it in a parking lot before taking it to the dealer so they can do doughnuts and possibly tell me there's nothing wrong. I still have some warranty, so I'm not in a hurry. I also want to take a run past where it happened and look for potholes. There wasn't any wheel hop following the clunk and I was accelerating pretty hard from rest in a sharp turn, so it may have just been a suspension travel issue. I did have it in Comfort Mode. Regardless, I'll be due for an oil change within the month, so I'll make sure the service writer includes it in writing that I requested a good visual inspection while it's on the rack. Closest Lincoln dealer is in the next town, I already use the local Ford dealer for my F150 & E350 and the Service Manager has assured me there's no problem serving the MKZ.
  10. Interesting. My 3.0AWD did the same thing the other day. Standing start, waiting to pull out while turning left in a "waiting in median for a break in oncoming traffic" situation. Maybe my MKZ is a glorified MFF? (Mexican Fancy Fusion) ?
  11. 27.4 MPG in Sport Mode!!!??? You got an unobtanium 3.0 "Hybrid"?
