I just purchased this 2016 MKZ Hybrid and had to take it back to the dealership as they didnt' change the oil and such. I had driven the car for about 4 days prior with mute on so i could listen to the engine and used to the sounds it makes (prior vehicle was Chrysler 300 - loved that car). All was fine. Pick up car last night go home, start car this morning and as i'm backing out i hear a slight whirring/buzzing sound VERY LOW and it comes on for approx. 10-15 seconds, goes off and back - like something is cycling. Since dealership messed with all my settings I turned off heating/ac - still heard the sound, so that's not it. turned off ECO mode, that's not it, was already on MUTE, just not sure what it could be.
This is my first hybrid so i was diligent in listening to the engine those first few days of driving - i could't tell when the Elec came on or switched to Gas, it was that quiet...now i sort of feel it.
UGH - i hate dealeships so bad, i've had nothing but bad outcomes at every dealership service shop i've ever gone to - so maybe it's just ME thinking they did something, but I do know that the sound was not there before, and if the music is on nobody would even notice.
Just checking to see i anyone knows that this is normal or not.
