  1. It is the latter... It won't go to #1 when pressing the number 1 button. It just loses that position. I would think if it was a battery issue it would affect both memory positions, but so far it has only been #1. But as you now, electrical issues are often strange. At least I know I'm not the only one. It helps if there is a TSB because then the mechanics don't have to chase an issue around.
  2. We have a seat memory issue with our 2018. Twice now it has forgotten my wife's position, which is position number one. It loses the memory and goes to the default exit-the-car position. This happened to us once in our 2014 but shutting the car off and restarting brought the seat position back. Not so with the 2018. When it is gone, it is gone. Has happened twice now. Always position 1, never position 2, at least so far. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Is this a known issue? Obviously we're still under warranty but wondering about others experiences.
  3. It always helps to state your model year when asking questions, though I found in your profile you have a 2016, which I believe is still Sync 2. I never experienced this same issue in my Sync 2 equipped MKZ, but if you are talking about the display in between the tach and speedometer, you can turn that off if you want. It is really only an alternate menu display and it can show items that are not actually selected. Our maybe you are describing something else and I'm not understanding. Feel free to post pictures, that would probably help tremendously.
  4. I have winter tires for my wife's BMW. I just bought a cheap off brand winter tire. They work marvelously well. Unfortunately, we live in a condo with limited storage space so having a second complete set of wheels /tires for both cars is not practical for us.
  5. Dedicated snow tires will obviously perform the best, but a good set of all season tires will work well, too. I have seen folks on here recommend the Michelin Cross Climate tires, as well as Continental Extreme Contact DSWs. I had a set of Falken Ziex all seasons on my 2014 FWD and I was happy with them. I would put them on my AWD when I need tires again.
  6. This kind of thing is impossible to diagnose over the internet. Salvage cars are very high risk. Even when the repaired car looks perfect, you don't know if they may have cut corners, ie: left out the airbags. I would say that unless you truly know what you're doing, I would bring it to a trusted mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection. Or just move on and find a non-salvage car.
  7. I had this problem on my 2018 when I bought it a month ago. But I had the dealer fix it. They sent it to their body shop and it came back perfect. So yes...it can be fixed but I have no idea how.
  8. The only problem I had with the polished wheels on our 2014 was when my wife rubbed up against the curb and scratched one of them up real bad. But when she hit a large pot hole and ruined a tire, the wheel itself was fine.
  9. I'm sure you are taking about the plastic clips. Pretty sure you're local NAPA will have a variety of clips and you can match to what you need.
  10. I can take either grille design, but I like the winged version best. That didn't stop me from buying a 2018 model when the time came, though.
  11. I would guess the MKZ is identical to the Fusion in this regard.
  12. I am not sure, but sounds like the dealer was able to move it some so maybe you can ask them.
  13. Good reasons to get one I suppose. I do have a small 2GB drive with some music on it. And I have a 32 GB one I used to back up key files on my laptop, but it is close to full now. I'm sure I'll get one eventually, I guess what I meant to say is it isn't that high on my priority list at the moment. I just spent money on new Weather Tech floor liners for the front, since the ones from my 2014 didn't fit properly. Thanks for all the links, though, I know right where to go when the time comes.
  14. Funny thing is, I don't have a USB drive big enough. I'm not much for technology these days, don't know when I'll get around to buying a new thumb drive. But my Sync 3 seems to be working fine for now.
  15. Thanks. I haven't gotten that far in the owner manual yet. But I'll look into that this weekend.
  16. I just assumed "my key" would setup a FOB to remember my settings (like my old Volvo S60 did or my wife's BMW does). So I went through the steps and only later realized instead of functioning as I thought...My Key sets the nannies so the car will not exceed 80mph. Oops. Lesson learned: read the owner's manual first! Lesson for Ford Motor/Lincoln: "My Key" is a horrible name for the nanny function. Try "Restricted Mode" or "Key Limiter" or something more descriptive of the actual function.
  17. My wife works from home most days but on Wednesdays she has to go into the office. Her car is a convertible and since she works in a very bad part of town, she takes my MKZ on Wednesdays because she feels safer. That leaves me with the vert. Which I used to like...but now I find myself really liking my new MKZ such that I'm kind of disappointed to have to drive the convertible today. First world problems, I guess.
  18. Welcome. I just bought my 2nd MKZ because, like you, I really like the design and really loved our first one. I love your color. Glad you found the one you wanted and I am confident you'll enjoy it for years to come.
  19. I guess I'm quite a ways out of date. How long does the update take to download and install?
  20. I use the One Place app. It does not seem to be supported from what I can tell but I would love to be wrong about that.
  21. Thank you. I'll see if I have this version next time I'm in the car. I have been trying to join the Sync forum but it is not working.
  22. Thanks, but I'm not sure what you are saying here. Yes the phone is paired, I use Bluetooth every day. I will look in the owner manual when I get time. And I will have to check for Sync updates. Anyone know what the latest version is?
  23. As best as I can tell, AA only works when plugged in. But when I plug in it disabled Bluetooth.
  24. So I have been playing around with Android Auto a bit. What I noticed is that when I am connected to Android Auto my Bluetooth streaming is disabled. Since I use Bluetooth streaming quite frequently, this is problematic. Is there a way to be connected to Android Auto and still be able to stream?
  25. So yesterday my wife and I were having lunch at our favorite German restaurant. It happens to be in the basement of a brick building. Just for the heck of it, as we prepared to leave, I opened the Lincoln Way app and used it to start the car. It worked. Pretty cool and will come in very handy this coming winter.
