  1. Our first Mkz was Jeeves. The 2018 is known as Coleman.
  2. Good for you and thanks for sharing. As for me, I dislike the newer key fobs because they are so big and heavy. I always wonder how they can make my phone with the capabilities of a super computer but our key fobs remain relatively ginormous devices that sit like a brick in our pockets.
  3. I finally had a chance to check and even though I think they are just over a year old, my Pirellis appear to be the older version. Being summer only tires, it is not surprising they are scary in winter weather. In rain during summer they have performed fine.
  4. Crashman... It would be good if you included more info on your specific year car. How old is your battery and have you had it load tested?
  5. If you have a Discount Tire nearby, I really recommend them. They can get you any tire you want and will walk you through relevant options. Their service is second to none and their prices are competitive.
  6. I have a run flat, summer only version of the Pirelli Cinturato's on my wife's BMW, I neither love them nor hate them. They are scary dangerous in even the slightest winter precipitation (so I switch to winter tires). I put the Falken Ziex ZE960 from Discount Tire on my 2014 MKZ and loved them. They had very good road feel, ran quiet, and worked well in winter conditions. So if you haven't considered these, now you have a 3rd option. I liked them so much I plan to install them on my 2018 when the factory Michelins are done.
  7. Hi Big Red, as I stated earlier, any local auto upholstery shop near you should be able to service your seat heater issue.
  8. I'm not sure there is a motor for the seat heaters, I think it is more of a heater element. I know in my 2014 it took a very long time to warm up (many miles of driving) , are you sure you're giving it enough time to get warm? I would suggest you visit a local auto upholstery shop, they will be able to fix it and certainly for a whole lot less.
  9. The first problem is dealers stating the seats work properly when you have clear evidence to the contrary. That would make me question using either of those dealers for service on anything. Hopefully Lincoln can get that straightened out as well as your car seats.
  10. They will eventually offer you a really good deal. I like SiriusXM, I think you will, too, if you take any road trips. It is nice to set a station and not have to worry about it fading out as you move along.
  11. Most free Sirius offers transfer with the vehicle.
  12. I agree. A proper diagnosis from a qualified technician is your best bet.
  13. Well, you state the car has very low mileage and believe it or not, inactivity can be hard on a car battery, too. Just sitting there unused with accessories draining the battery, or a lot of short trips that never charge the battery fully, etc. I would be pretty certain if you put a new battery in and drive it regularly, you'll be just fine.
  14. What do you mean "everything checked out"? Can you be more specific. If you jumped the car and had it running, then put a voltmeter on it, what did it read? With the engine running it should be about 14.4 volts, that is the charging voltage. Anything significantly less or if the voltage varied up and down, that is a charging problem. More than likely you have a bad battery, like others have said. Any auto parts store will load test it for you for free.
  15. Just a rough guess, but you're looking at around $3k at a body shop to fix that damage. So unless you can fix it yourself, you should be planning to drive as is. But if you're looking for cheap transportation, and the car checks out mechanically, you could always offer him a little less and you probably get some good use out of it.
  16. Yes. Check you warranty status first. Definitely.
  17. I am curious, why are you removing your seat on such a new car?
  18. I don't know for sure but I think it would be pretty much the same.
  19. Well, I have a bit of a different take on the rust. I'm from Minnestoa so I know all about winter, road salt, etc. For only 4000 miles that seems like more rust than I would expect with today's quality exhaust materials. Probably not super alarming, but makes me wonder if the PO just never washed it or what. As for the seats, I think you have learned something about your Lincoln dealer here, so maybe time to try another dealer. But be aware, they do usually have performance parameters for such features that determine if a warranty repair is needed. You could get the same story from another dealer. But keep fighting because eventually you'll wear them down.
  20. This is great to hear. Today I drove to work in a heavy downpour, the first I have encountered since I bought my 2018. It has the stock from the factory Michelin MXM with about 25k miles and they were downright scary in the heavy rain. Never had a tire hydroplane so easily before. I can't wait to get them off this car.
  21. My 2014 made a strange gurgling-like sound. Everything worked fine so I never bothered to have it checked but it was a strange noise. I hear nothing but the fan blowing in the 2018.
  22. There are indoor and outdoor rated car covers. Any good outdoor rated car cover will do. Weathertech now offers an outdoor car cover, if you can afford one : Weathertech Sunbrella Car Cover
  23. Yes, we do each use a different key fob. Interesting thought you have. I will look into it further.
  24. Yes, it loses the memory setting completely so we have had to reset it twice now. It isn't that she adjusted it and didn't push number 1 again. It is that upon restart the setting is gone and it just stays in the exit position. At this point, pressing 1 does nothing. It is my normal daily driver but she does use it regularly.
