  1. If the 3.0 has the plastic oil pan like the 2.7 then yes, these oil leaks are quite common and the repair is not easy. Even the very slightest drop of oil can cause the adhesive not to bond, and another leak develops. I've read quite a bit about the leaks and ended up passing on a Fusion Sport because of the prevalence of the issue.
  2. Did you consider that one of your sensors or connections got wet going through the car wash and caused the warning lights? It could also just have been an electrical fluke, which cars these days are prone to.
  3. Yes, that is what we are here for. But it felt to me that you got the advice above almost a month ago and you're still asking about it, so maybe you needed more help. Do you have experience doing wiring work?
  4. I think maybe if you can't figure it out based on the info given here you should take it to a professional.
  5. My chief complaint about the AWD system in the MKZ, as I have stated elsewhere, is that it doesn't route power to the rear wheels fast enough, leaving the car to behave too much like the front driver it is based on. We had some light snow tonight, and with the new Hankooks, I felt obliged to try and have a little fun. Most of the time, when I try to have fun, the front wheel drive bias quickly spoils it. But tonight I actually got it to kick the tail out in a rear drive power slide. That was unexpected and quite fun. I held it as long as I had room to. Not quite sure what I did to get the system to send so much power to the rear like that, but I hope with practice I can get it to do it again and again. Rear wheel power slides are what make winter diving fun, after all!
  6. Silent. Well, very quiet. The only thing I noticed was they can be loud on certain kinds of snow: on the dry, powdery stuff when it is super cold, they make a peculiar sound, but in all other situations they are as quiet if not more quiet than the original Michelins. And the grip is very nearly as good as the winter only tires on our BMW. Today, I hit an exit ramp that was far more icy than I anticipated and on the original Michelins I definitely would have went right off the road. But while the Hankooks were challenged to their limits, I was able to slow down plenty fast enough to circle the cloverleaf smoothly (though slowly) with little drama. I am quite pleased with these tires.
  7. Well, since I'm on my second Mkz and also own a BMW, the comparison between Sync and i-drive is inevitable. The summary: there is no comparison. We all know Sync 3 was a huge upgrade over Sync 2, but either version is far better than i-drive. For context, my BMW is a 2016 which I believe is i-drive 5.0, but I have also used i-drive in a 2017 X5 (6.0?) and i-drive in a 2020 (latest version maybe?). Truthfully, the i-drive in the 2016 is more intuitive to use than than either the 2017 or the 2020. In fact, I found the 2020 to be crap. It was confusing and very difficult to learn. Absolutely horrible. Sync beats all i-drive versions. Not by a little, but by a huge margin. Sync is so intuitive and easy to use you rarely, if ever, need to consult the owners manual. It's just super simple to learn and find all the functions you need. You never have to wonder how to operate Sync. And this is not only more convenient but it is safer, too, as I'm less distracted behind the wheel. So nice job Ford/Lincoln. You kept it simple and it worked.
  8. Less than a year and a half ago we were paying $1.89. Did you have to get a 2nd job to cover that $5/gal gas?
  9. I still predict Ford will regret the decision to stop producing cars. I just paid $4.00/gallon for gas yesterday so that day could come sooner rather than later.
  10. I don't have ads and pop ups, but I have seen a few spam posts lately. They all seem to get removed quickly though. Maybe it is the browser you are using.
  11. I can finally give an initial report on my new Hankook Kinergy 4S2 H750 All Weather tires. On Thursday and Friday this week we had one of those Minnesota "all weather" event. Snow, sleet, hail, rain, and ice all within about 24 hours. And thanks to a visit to a supplier in a rural area, I even got some snow packed dirt roads in. The Hankooks have made a remarkable difference. On snow and slush I get fairly crisp turn in and reliable braking. Even on ice, the car stops so much better. On all surfaces and all conditions, the car is just so much more sure-footed. Confidence has been restored! I am quite pleased with these tires overall. They are quiet on the highway. I do notice the sidewalls are just slightly stiffer than the Michelins I replaced, but not so much as to ruin the ride. (Though I surely would prefer 18 inch wheels [or even 17s] to the 19 inch wheels Lincoln put on the vehicle.) I will provide further updates as the miles roll on, but so far I am very satisfied with these tires.
  12. Go to Crutchfield or Sonic Electronix, buy you gear at one of those two and they will make sure you get all the right stuff. Easy peasy.
  13. I have seen a few dealers near me listing the new Ford Maverick for nearly double the sticker price. The real problem, though, is people have to stop being stupid and paying these markups. That would take care of the problem rather quickly.
  14. The Hankook Kinergy tires are on! Discount Tire really out did themselves today, I think it was about 20 minutes and I was out the door! Of course, the roads here are perfectly clear and dry today so hard to make any immediate assessment of their performance, but I'll provide an update as soon as I have something to report. For now, I'm just happy to finally have them on!
  15. You might try asking at the parts store where you got your parts. Sometimes they have the required equipment for rent.
  16. I lived in Saugatuck for a couple years, they don't use as much salt as we do here in the Minneapolis area. You almost can't tell if you're on black top or concrete here this time of year. But I sure do remember the west Michigan lake effect snow! I used to have classic cars I wouldn't drive in the winter, but now we're down to only two cars and they both get year round use. Today I'm driving our convertible, top up of course. It's a BMW 228i, all wheel drive, and it's good fun on slick roads!
  17. Yep, that's what we northerners do 6 months out of the year!
  18. Well, I regularly see temps below zero here in Minnesota and haven't had my screen go dark in either my old 2014 or the 2018. I'm not sure temperature alone is the factor, the car manufacturers do lot of cold weather testing. But yes, it does seem our modern electronics require an occasional reboot.
  19. That's the thing with all this technology in our cars, it is easy for something to go wrong. I know for a while Cadillac owners had big issues with their CUE screens going bad. Sadly, when we do have failures outside of warranty, we are left with very expensive repairs because there are no low cost aftermarket solutions like there used to be. Glad it seems to be coming back for you. Hope it continues to work.
  20. Well, thank you FedEx. I was supposed to get my new tires on tomorrow but today FedEx mistakenly only delivered 3 of them and now they won't deliver the 4th until Monday. And since my work schedule won't allow for installation during the week, I now have to wait until next Saturday. My bad experiences with FedEx continue to accrue.
  21. Well, for no reason whatsoever and with no effort from me, my Lincoln Way app and my MKZ are talking too each other again. It seems Multitask is right, just a routine glitch in the app. I just won't worry about it when it happens again next time.
  22. If anyone is interested, this is the tire I went with. Notice the directional tread design.
  23. So what I have determined is the signal gets to the car from my phone but the signal from the car does not get back to my phone. So the remote start will start the car, but the "started" signal won't get back to my phone so the app doesn't know the car has started. So I tend to think the modem is only receiving and not sending. At least I'm under warranty for a short time yet so they should fix it.
  24. I'm actually not convinced it is the app that is the problem but more like the car's modem isn't working. Today I tried connecting to my work wireless when I got here and it would not connect. Also, when I scan for Sync updates from the car it doesn't work.
