The dealer I traded my MKZ to immediately sent it to one of their sister dealerships and it is now listed for sale as a certified Lincoln. So if anyone is in the market, the ad is below. Crazy car market.... they are asking a full $8000 more than I paid for it one year ago... 2018 MKZ Reserve

The one issue we never resolved in our MKZ before we traded it off was the flaky memory seats. We constantly lost position 1 altogether, it would just go away about every 4th time we'd start the car. And position 2 crept backwards little by little, and by this I mean when you'd shut the car off and the seat would go back into the easy exit position, then on restart, it would come forward but stop like a 1/4" back from the saved position. Eventually, after about 4 times, you'd be noticeably further back and have to reset the position. The warranty had run out and so I didn't want to pay to have this diagnosed. But it was an annoyance that contributed to our lack of connection to the car. Never had those kind of problems with our 2014.

Today we made the decision to trade off our 2018 MKZ. It was a beautiful car but neither my wife nor I developed the attachment to it we had for our previous 2014. So it was time to move on. We traded for a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Ultimately, the goofy auto market allowed us to trade it away and actually make a profit on the MKZ. Strange but true. So long. I have enjoyed my time on this forum and all the help I've received.

Sync is a great system, I really like the intuitive operation, especially the Sync 3 in my 2018. But as a whole, these Lincolns are electrically glitchy. I have not experienced the issue you described, but I have had many others.... with various system around the car. Like when I start the car and maybe 1 out of 15 times the seat doesn't return to the proper memory setting. Or when I walk up to the car and it refuses to sense the remote and I have to unlock it manually. Or when the seat cooling turns itself on even on the coldest January day. Or when my Lincoln Way app stops talking to the car for a few days and then just starts working again.

Indeed it was predicted. I'd sure hate to be having to fill up an F-150's gas tank these days

You should have made the dealer remove the sticker. I always tell them I charge to advertise on my car so either remove the sticker or we can work out an advertising contract.

Welcome. Nice car.

2009 Lincoln MKZ complete disaster
leftoverture replied to youknojuno's topic in 2006-2012 Lincoln MKZ
It would help if you told us what work you did, or tried to do, to the car. We might be able to share some ideas, but as already noted, it can be hard to diagnose via internet. -
I bet it sold fast. I think that was too low of a price. The dealer I traded my 2014 to last summer resold it for $17k. It was a reserve, but didn't have every option, the HD radio had stopped working, and it had 76k miles.

That's unfortunate that no solution was found. What did you buy?

We have a second vehicle....a BMW 2-Series convertible. I'm long past the do-it-yourself need a truck stage and don't have room for more than 2 vehicles. If it doesn't fit in the MKZ we'll have it delivered.

I have no desire for an SUV or an electric vehicle. I think my next vehicle might be a classic Town Car. Or maybe my current MKZ might outlast me.

Well, I think the factory 19s on my MKZ are possibly a bit too big so I guess I'm going to get blasted in FB. Haha.

I should say, I visit this site almost exclusively on my phone, no pop ups ever with Brave. I tried it with Chrome and was greeted with a big old ad right on top.

The Brave browser is available for i-phone as far as I know. It protects your privacy better than most.

I also do not have this problem. I use the Brave browser.

Things You Learn When You Read the Owners Manual

Yea, it doesn't do that. It just stays in my wife's chosen position until I push the memory button on the door. I'll have to try going through the key fob programming thing again. -

Well, I thought I programmed my key fob to my seat memory successfully, I followed the steps in the OM precisely and got all the right beeps, but it doesn't work. It does not recall my seat memory when I approach the car nor when I start it from the remote. How is this supposed to work? -
My 2018 has the 4g modem and those features are still working for me. I did once experience an issue where they stopped working for a week or so, but the icons did still appear on my screen. That seemed to be a fluke and it just started working again.

Sounds like you have frequent short trips, and that alone can drain the battery over time. Do you have aftermarket accessories such as a car alarm? Those things can drain the battery, too. Also, if your alternator is not charging properly that can cause issues. So you probably need your alternator tested, too. Lastly, it is possible you got a defective battery. Take it to the dealer and let them do a thorough diagnosis.

2014 Lincoln MKZ just dies
leftoverture replied to INMKZ's topic in General Engine, Powertrain & Transmission
It sounds to me that the dealer you are using is just randomly replacing parts rather than accurately diagnosing. You do not need a code to diagnose an issue like this, you just need the time and patience to properly trace through the systems likely to be involved. I would suggest you find a really good independent mechanic in your area that can properly diagnose the issue. Try to see if you can get some references from your neighbors or coworkers. -

I found out about the trunk button when I was trying to figure out how to program my seat memory to my key fob, which I also did successfully. But now I wonder what other features I might be missing. -

That one I knew about. I use it frequently, but at first I always had to look for it. Now I have it in muscle memory. -

I never knew there was a button on my 2014! No chips in paint. Just wet and sloppy in Minnesota with Spring moving in. -
My second MKZ and I never knew the little button to open the trunk was there. It pays to read the owner manual!
