Lincoln offer to upgrade nav. maps
Rusty Boltz replied to jimflutes's topic in Audio, Navigation and SYNC
I recently traded my MKZ for a CPO 2013 MKS. I purchased the A7 update from the dealer and took a 650 mile road trip 4 days later. Nav seemed to work fine. Better than the older nav in my MKZ. -
Mine has the adjustable suspension, navigation, blind spot monitor, heated steering wheel (I don't need it here in Texas, but the wife likes it),memory adjustable pedals, power rear sunshade, THX audio and tri-coat paint (I might regret that last one). Here's a photo:

I just traded my '08 MKZ for a CPO '13 MKS with 30k miles on it. It's a nice car, and I got a good deal. Paid half the original sticker price and got a fair price for my MKZ from the local Lincoln dealer. :)

Haven't been on this forum for a few days. These ads are really annoying. When I clicked to close them, my McAfee protection warned me that I was being directed to a troublesome site. If the ads don't go away, I will.

Replaced mine. Easy.

I read about that on another forum. It's only during the warranty period.

Update to my previous post: I went over the car again with scratch and swirl remover, then applied a coat of spray wax for black cars. It looks great. I'll continue using detailer for black cars too.

No cabin air filter on the '08s. If you have heated/cooled seats, they have filters under them, but they're pretty expensive.

Is it possible that your "unlock" button on your key was accidentally depressed for 5 seconds? The feature opens the front windows and sunroof (if equipped), to ventilate the vehicle. It happened to me while the key was in my pocket.

Interior door handle replacement
Rusty Boltz replied to Doughboys's topic in Forum Help & Suggestions
I did my '08 in 25 minutes, and I'm not a mechanic. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=replace+MKZ+door+handle&fr=yfp-t-900&fr2=p%3Afp%2Cm%3Asb&hspart=att&hsimp=yhs-att_001&type=att_pc_homerun_portal -
I agree, but when I entered my VIN again (before long , I'll have it memorized), it still shows no open recalls. :ohsnap:
-
Interesting. From reading the article, it looks like my MKZ is included, but when I went to the Ford link and entered my VIN, there were no safety issues. No airbag issues on Safercar.gov either.

I've seen one black car with a clear bra...it was VERY noticeable.
-
Black touch up paint worked on mine.

Me too. I would never buy a car without test driving it. However, have you seen the news about the new Tesla? Thousands of people are putting deposits on a car that won't be available for at least a year.

I'm happy to report that the part arrived and I fixed it in less than 25 minutes. Total cost: less than $39.
-
It hides a screw that holds the door panel on. I know because I'm going to have to replace my inner door handle, and I found video instructions on line before I ordered the part.
-
Be careful about buying one on Ebay. There are some illegal copies, and even worse, some that will mess up your nav system.

Some MKZs had chrome wheels (like mine), some apparently had "chrome clad" wheels. In either case, your local tire shop should be able to direct you to a wheel repair shop.

My MKZ has the 3.5L. About a year ago, the cam phazers went out. They had to pull the engine to do the repair. $2500, but that's the only thing that ever went wrong with this car. I bought it with 20k on the odometer, and it has 70k now. I'm still happy with it, and will be looking at another Lincoln when the time comes.

Doubt it. Spare tires are too heavy.

Problems with computerized cars. I used to have a Cadillac that just quit one day. Stopped at a stop sign, and it quit; wouldn't start. Had it towed to the dealer; started right up. No codes, and they couldn't replicated the problem. It didn't happen again.

My '08 doesn't blow heat until the engine warms up a bit. :headscratch:
