  1. Unless they changed it for 2014...I don't understand how the engine compartment getting hot could cook the 12 volt battery. The 12volt battery in my 2014 MKZ is in the trunk.
  2. I have a new 2014 MKZ. I'm very happy, the car feels very plush to me...but the center console plastic and plastic around the window controls feels cheap, The worst part is the push buttons to change gears are part of the center console and feel like cheap plastic to me. That said I never notice it unless looking for it, but I can see that an auto reviewer might pick up on this, that's what they are paid for. One other observation is that I get no squeaking or anything like that from the MKZ so maybe the plastic isn't really as cheap as it feels, as I said in another post the MKZ is the quietest car I have ever owned. Coming from Infinity G37 convertible that I expected to be a little noisy...price you pay for a convertible. Also in the first paragraph the reviewer does say the MKZ gets 45 mpg ratings across the board.
  3. I don't know, but my 2014 MKZ is the quietest car I have ever owned. I am really impressed...just no noise.
  4. I think the MKZ is a real good move. I take a three hour drive a few times a month. The car is a joy to drive. On the curvy back roads i'm doing 80 MPH, really pushing it and still get just over 40MPG on the trip. Handles better then the G37 I sold. I do set the CC to economy but other then that I just drive. If I'm real carful around town I can get just over 50MPG…but I can't see my self driving like that all the time.
  5. I have had my MKZ for a short time and learned I like the car a lot, but I don't like Lincoln. As far as SteveB's problem I think it's the way the Lincoln division of Ford is run not Ford Motor Company. My family has had Fords for years, and I just haven't seen things like your airbag problem. My next luxury car or near luxury car I think will be the Cadillac ELR. I will not keep a car I can't get good service on and answers to my questions. The Lincoln people really are clueless. I'm still trying to figure out just how useless the Lincoln Care folks are.
  6. This is a quote from my Lincoln sales rep in regards to getting my navigation activated. "Hope all well with New Lincoln, Call if any problems, I will try Harder next time to get problem solved" I'm sure it's not out of context because that was all he wrote! It sure looks like he really knows he didn't do his best for me because he will try harder next time. He didn't try his hardest this time, and another dealer would have matched his price so why would he think there will be a next time? No replies really needed I just thought it's humorous?
  7. I will just take it to the dealer. Thanks for your suggestion. I already lost the first flower I was getting with the leaves trying to reset things myself.
  8. Sort of off topic but I just got my 2014 MKZ Hybrid so its to new for me to comment on the new car, but I bought one of the very first Excape Hybirds. It is a 2005 ordered in June and delivered in Sept. the first production year. The Escape has all options offered at the time including AWD and no matter how I drive it the auto delivers 30 MPG summer and 29 MPG winter. In the summer the Escape may get better millage if we did not use the AC but we do. City or highway makes no difference. I know I could have changed the mileage by aggressive driving or very unaggressive driving, but I just drive whats normal for me. Car has about 130k on it now and still runs perfect and gets the same mileage as when new. The Escape has been past down to my Son to drive. The service manager at our Ford dealer told me the battery performs better when the weather is not cold. That's how he accounted for the 1MPG difference summer to winter. Since I won't change my driving habits I think I will get about 35 to 36 MPG in the MKZ. Not a lot better then the Escape since the MKZ has the second generation Hybrid system and FWD. The FWD Escapes got a couple MPG better then the AWD like I have. Don't get me wrong I really like my MKZ, and I'm sure I could do better on the MPG with very careful driving.
  9. I think it's just an App you or a dealer installs and then inserts the SD card. On my car no apps are installed on my wives 2013 Edge with the same system as my car it shows the an app is installed. Application name: "Navigation/16777215" Expiration Date "None". I don't get it the system is all set up to install apps but I can't find any apps for it. I know how to stream audio, but that's not having a app installed in MyLincoln Touch. I know I have seen pictures with the Pandora Icon on the radio screen. Have any of you seen that on your sync screen.
  10. Sorta miss mine to. Just got rid on a 09 G37 VERT. Talk about to many parts that hardtop convertible had them, but never a problem. Drove to Ohio so the guy could install it. Did it free because it was the first one he did. This was my vert until about 10days ago. This is my vert until about 10 days ago.
  11. Got a yellow wrench and a caution box that says see manual. The manual says it's a power train fault. How can I reset it I don't really want to go to the dealer. Any help PLEASE!!! The PowerTrain Fault can be found on page 100 of the manual.
  12. Cavalier Ford Lincoln 1515 South Military Highway Chesapeake VA 23320 The dealer ships are side by side. Drive from one showroom to the next in the same parking lot. Lincoln dealership has been in place for years I'm not sure about the story of the Ford dealership next door
  13. I just bought a 2014 MKZ Hybrid (9/12/13) my dealer had a good selection and could quickly check all surrounding dealers. MKZ's they had in stock went from about 37+ up to about 48000. I paid 35600 for mine and had to wait for the service dept. to inspect it before a test drive. In VA you need a state safety inspection sticker. I too like another brand... 2014 Hybrid Q50. I thought the ride was about equal. The best price I could get was about 15k more on the Q. Admittidly the Q did have more features but not worth the 15k to me. Plus I have a 2005 Escape Hybrid and a 2013 Ford Edge that I like. I have owned tow Infinitis and liked both. My Local Ford and Infiniti dealers have both given me very good service. I don't like that big top and have seen some comments of it leaking. I would go with the 1200 dollar option.
  14. Where can I buy applications for My Lincoln Touch. I would like to buy the application "Navigation/16777215" which can be installed with a usb drive. This is how the following is done. “Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships Disabled Ford explains: When you take delivery of a Ford with MyFord Touch or Lincoln with MyLincoln Touch, you get a vehicle with an 8-inch touchscreen and you also get the navigation application embedded in the car. But it's no good without the navigation SD card, for which you pay $795, and then Ford activates the car and enables navigation. That apparently means you can choose to have factory onboard navigation the day you take delivery. Or, later on, you can choose between factory navigation or a third-party portable GPS system that will be clunky, take up space on the windshield, and cost half what Ford charges.” I will be glade to pay for this. I'm not looking to cheat Ford so I will be glade to pay a dealer the 795 plus any labor. Plus a finders fee if any one can help.
  15. What kind or remote. Just picked up my new 2014 and used the first method in the manual. It was simple. Door opener came from sears.
  16. I Like...Would look good on my white one.
  17. First I love the "My Lincoln Touch" and Sync. I really don't find it very complicated coming from an Infinity. Mine is showing generic icons where the pictures are. I will report back when I figure it out. I have gotten the message texting is not supported with your phone, I have an iPhone so it should be supported and will report back on that also. Sorry no help yet but I hope I can figure it out, if so I will post the answers. I love to drive while texting, sexting among other things. The speed limit is so slow folks need something to do while driving. ;)
  18. WOW in my area all the Lincoln dealers had Hybirds and are ready to deal. Some more then others. I got mine for about 8 percent under MSRP. Dealer had about five 2014 Hybirds on the lot already. The Lincolns is not going to hold it's price great, but I will still loss less then if I had paid the extra 16k to buy the new Infinity Q50 Hybrid. I drove both and liked both. I have owned both brands and the dealers have given me good service so I went with the ford product (MKZ) because of the price. I am confident I will enjoy my new MKZ and the extra 16K I did not spend on the Infinity. Consumer Reports I don't usually agree with so I don't know or care what they say or said. Thread started about Tires ok. I bought one of two 2005 Escape Hybrids that my dealer could get in Sept the year they came out. I ordered it in June from my preferred dealer in Norfolk VA. Tires started cupping and making noise at about 25k so the dealer replaced them at no charge with a different brand that carried me over the 100k mile mark. That's what I call good service! The Escape Hybrid still runs fine and has been pasted down to my son. I glad to have this next generation Hybrid from Ford in the MKZ.
  19. From what I have read yes but my dealer doesn't know about it so i'm looking for a dealer to do it. I have a 2013 ford edge that has the same Sync system and the SD card will not work in the lincoln. I think it will be a very long wait for pirated SD cards, Ford has this under control.
  20. Forgot to mention the turn by turn navigation shows on the main screen or the one on the right of the instrument cluster and also has voice navigation.
  21. If you use Mapquest you can set up your desired route and send it to your car for turn by turn navigation. It does require your phone being connected to the cars Sync system. Your MyLincoln site has to have the phone number of the phone that will be connected to the Sync system. Using a web browser Multiple destinations can be stored in your MyLincoln site and then called up by voice in your car. Works very good and down loads the route so you can make other calls and doesn't need cell coverage on the route after its downloaded. You can also send the route to a tablet or cell phone and use Mapquest for the moving map. I have seen YouTube videos that show the Mapquest map on the Sync screen but have not figured out how to do that. My 2014 MZK does not have the navigation enabled so I would like to be able to put the Mapquest map on the screen. All so looking for a dealer or shop that can activate my navigation for me as my dealer doesn't know this can be done. I know it costs a lot, but that's ok.
  22. I have a new 2014 MKZ that was shipped with the navigation disabled. Can I have this done? My salesman did not know about it. Found it in an article on the web. "Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships Disabled Ford explains: When you take delivery of a Ford with MyFord Touch or Lincoln with MyLincoln Touch, you get a vehicle with an 8-inch touchscreen and you also get the navigation application embedded in the car. But it's no good without the navigation SD card, for which you pay $795, and then Ford activates the car and enables navigation. That apparently means you can choose to have factory onboard navigation the day you take delivery. Or, later on, you can choose between factory navigation or a third-party portable GPS system that will be clunky, take up space on the windshield, and cost half what Ford charges." Thanks
