  1. Thanks... I almost bought a Mystic Cobra convertible at one point... sure wish I would have! Great car!!! We have a pretty interesting garage... so a good DD was needed. Airflow, I thought about a tune and even contacted Livournous and Lincoln about it. Both said the same thing, tune and the warranty is gone. So, no tune for me! The warranty is too important at this point. I am not interested in hearing the motor or exhaust, it's just my opinion but even a great sounding V-6 doesn't compare to a V-8 and I am not sure if the performance gains would be worth it. I do enjoy the nice quiet ride even when I am driving spirited. For what I wanted for the car the 400HP is enough (for now) we will see what the future holds but there will not be many changes until the warranty isn't an issue.
  2. Well the MKZ has been betting a workout since I bought it so I figured I would give Y'all (and potential buyers) my impressions. 2017 MKZ Reserve 3.0 AWD Drivers Package and every other option you could get Purchased 5Sep17 8600 miles Current Miles- 14,750 The Driving Experience- It is everything I thought it would be. Handling is impressive even coming from my 2011 Roush Mustang. The adjustable suspension makes traveling so much better. A quick run from Atlanta to Ohio allowed me to put it in comfort and "float" along like the old Lincolns.... then when I hit the twisty's through the mountains, sport mode and it was so much fun. As my daily, I am usually in Normal or Sport on the suspension. The one thing I have noticed is the 3.0L and the car are so damn smooth and quiet that it is easy to exceed the speed limit and I have caught myself driving much faster than I probably should be down the interstate. Not sure how to fix that besides being smarter, but it does make for a smooth fun drive. MPG- Nope, didn't by the 3.0AWD for MPG, but it still amazes me that this car gets worse mileage than my Mustang, both city, and Highway. I wasn't expecting to put this much mileage on it already but I will deal with it. I am wondering if I had gone for the Hybrid (my original plan) it would have met my needs better. I am averaging a calculated 22.4mpg over the 6k miles I have had it. The trip odometer says 24.1 BTW, so its quite a bit off. I expected to get 400-450 per tank on the highway with the 18 Gallon tank but I still find myself filling up 300-350 (about 16 gallons) almost every tank, this is less than I was going in my Mustang. The comparison is inevitable as it was my DD for most of the 6 years before I bought the MKZ. Transmission- They have got to update this in the near future. This transmission epitomizes smooth.... yep that's great for most people, but with the 3.0 I don't always want smooth. The switch to sport helps but I still find it a little slow on the shifts. Interior- I have the driver's performance package and I still think the seats are a little tight and possible not as soft as the standard interior but they are still extremely comfortable. The Heating and Ventilation are excellent and I use them all the time. Nothing lie pre-starting the car and having the seats and steering wheel warm when you sit down... the auto setting on the remote start works great! I didn't want black but it's not a choice with the DPP so black interior with white highlights.... gets dirty easy. The floor is "odd" shaped under my feet and I wish it was flatter and the left footrest was further forward but its a minimal issue. Stereo is outstanding... can't imagine not having the Ultima! Panoramic Sunroof- INCREDIBLE!!! Driving down the interstate, roof all the way back, back windows down all the way, front windows down about an inch. The car is quiet (considering its the highway) enough to hold a conversation but open enough to enjoy the outside. A must have IMO. :) Problems- About a month after I bought it the windows starting freaking out and would not close. A trip to the dealership and a programming issue and its all fixed. I am having some small wind noise from the passenger side front door. It looks like it will need adjusting because it is actually sticking out slightly. The third issue is the damn thing keeps forgetting my seat and steering wheel settings. I am sure its another computer fix, but it's getting annoying. I am hoping I will have time to get it done after I get back in town after my next trip (next week). Last was a low tire. The TPS warned me it was low (29PSI) and I took it in as soon as I could to have it fixed. Turns out the tire had been patched before and the patch was leaking. Easy fix and Discount tires in Ohio took care of it for free. two big rock chips in the windshield.... gotta go get one fixed before it spreads! Bottom line- The car is great in everything it does. The performance, handling, and comfort are wonderful. I am a car enthusiast and want to be thrilled when I get behind the wheel and this car does not do that for me. Don't get me wrong, it checks every box... but for some reason, I don't get as excited about it as I want to. I was going to sell my Mustang but have decided to keep it so I will have my thrills with that car and enjoy the MKZ for what it is, an excellent car that does everything extremely well. If I had to do it again I would have probably gone for a 2013-2015 Hybrid as a DD and saved a little cash. I have also had the great pleasure of beating a Camaro, a challenger, Lexus... and something that looked right out of Fast and the Furious. The car is fast, looks great, and is comfortable... what more could I ask for? Also, the ceramic coating was a great plan. Car looks super shiny even after 3 weeks without a wash. Its dirty but the shine comes through. Hopefully, it will clear enough to knock the dirt off tomorrow. Thanks again everyone for the info I got from this forum before I purchased and the continued information!
  3. Bought mine 5Sep17, it had 8700 miles when I bought it.. we are now at 14,750. Been a busy two months! Another trip scheduled for next week so the miles are adding up but it is fun to drive. 2017 Reserve 3.0 AWD.
  4. Thanks... I am very happy with it, I am interested in seeing how it does with normal day to day dirt and rain. Crushalot- I had two cars done, one last week and the MKZ this week so I probably got a better deal. When I was pricing I checked with a few different companies and the ceramic quality and product price has a big part of the overall price. The 8yr warranty Ceramic I went with costs about $250 just for the product. I saw pricing from "basic" 2-year warranty product for high-end places over $1K. Also, the guy I used basis his pricing of the amount of work involved in each car. My MKZ needed very little. My wife's Boxster needed a LOT more work but it has a lot smaller body that the MKZ, yet they priced out the same. My pricing was somewhere in the middle ground, and I definitely feel I got a great deal.
  5. I finally went to pick it up tonight and it looks great. I haven't seen it in bright sunlight yet but the guy that did it took these pics... WOW!!!
  6. New pick of the shine on the roof, just polished up still needs the ceramic coating. Can't wait to see it Thursday!
  7. Thank you! I have read through the manual, but I haven't read every bit of it. I didn't see that in there. Thanks for the information! Forums are always a great source of information... even when its a question I could have found my own answer for! Thanks again!
  8. Crushalot, I did create my own code, but when I leave the remote in the car it reminds me I forgot it. I will give it a shot though, thanks! LongIslander, the car was a dealer car, driven by a Lincoln Rep for six months prior to being put on the market. I never purchase new but tend to buy Demo cars or similar. I saved over $23K purchasing this car over new. Pretty much a no-brainer in my opinion. Still smells new and was maintained well. I tried to get it CPO for the additional Warranty but it wasn't worth the $1750 they wanted for it. It's tinted at 20%... not sure what your state laws are and I will go on record saying I don't know the laws here... :)
  9. Making some progress... I had the windows tinted and the car is now being professionally ceramic coated with element119 Diamond finish. I should get it back Thursday. It had minimal flaws in the paint that I could see but my eye isn't as good as the professional! He pointed out much more and after the first pass (of three) in the paint correction, he says 95% are gone. He has done one of my other cars and it looks incredible. I am really looking forward to seeing it on Thursday. I also emailed Livournous.... I thought about the tune but can't justify losing the warranty at this point. I have just under 12,000 miles on it now and its been an interesting 3 weeks with the car. Here is a recap and my thoughts so far. First off, the car 2017 MKZ 3.0T AWD, purchased used Power... yep its definitely got it, but it comes on smooth. Transmission, even in sport mode is definitely ready to have Lincoln drop in the 10speed or something. Shifts are smooth and controlled in normal driving and feel slow in sport mode, although it will spin the tires when it hits second, third is not that good. The tune would definitely help this. I am surprised there isn't some sort of Launch control or something to get it off the line with boost built up. The initial hit is less than I was expecting... but this is a 4400lb car with a V-6. Interior is incredible, although I believe the driver's performance package seats may be a bit less "cushy" than the standard seating. I use the massage setting during my commute every time and LOVE it. I am 6-0 210... not a small guy but not huge either. The bolsters are tight and a bit more room on my commute would be nice, again, this is the drivers package seats. I am coming from a Roush Mustang so I do love the performance aspect of this car and the package. Gas Mileage- Well I bought a 400HP heavy sedan, I wasn't expecting Hybrid mpg and that's a good thing. I have already got worse mpg than I ever did in the 80K miles I put on my Roush. So far I have a high of 26.27mpg and a low of 19.91mpg. The 26 was all highway doing about 75-78mph. The 20mpg was about 50/50, so it's getting what its supposed to. I won't complain about that but it's still odd getting worse mileage than a "Muscle Car". The other odd thing is the miles per tank. I know it has an 18-gallon tank, I put 17.044 in it once already, but it sure does seem to go through a tank in short order. I have been filling up around 270 miles, I know I can go further, but that just seems the right time to fill it. I have gone a long of 448 miles (17.044 gallons) but that really felt like I was pushing it. Highway, middle of the night, and gas stations closed made me push farther than I wanted. Exterior- Bad azz!! This car is amazing looking, especially from the front. I am glad I decided on the 2017 as the looks of the front combined with the incredible rims and grill of the drivers package and I turn around and look every time. Once I get it back from the ceramic coat it will be even better. The back looks great but I think it's due a refresh to match the front a little better, but it still looks great from that angle as well. Handling- If you must buy a 3.0T you have to get the AWD!!!! The drivers package helps the handling with torque vectoring and the sticky tires, but cornering is amazing/ flat and controlled. The tires definitely scream that they are about to give up, then you add a little throttle and it just keeps pushing around the corner. Sticky tires definitely help but you can feel (and see on the dash) the torque vectoring working. AMAZING! The suspension is Lincoln Smooth in normal driving. Panoramic Sunroof/ Audio and Sync 3---- Going from a convertible to this was difficult but that BIG sunroof makes so much better. I have the Ultima Stereo so 1200Watts and 20 speakers. The sound is incredible and clear. I did expect a bit more volume though, but it is plenty loud enough to cause hearing issues. :) I don't know how the noise cancellation actually works through the stereo, I guess I just have to trust that's why it's a quiet ride. I do find myself cranking the volume for telephone calls so I can hear it. Sync 3 is SO MUCH better than Sync but it still doesn't understand be half the time. Apple Car play is useless to me. I don't understand why the screen is so bright in Car Play music.... it is annoying at night. Plus Waze is not compatible... why? Overall the functionality is much better. I do wish there were hard buttons for function (Maps, Phone, Audio, etc). That would free up some screen space in some settings and during Navigation, you wouldn't have to "find" the buttons to change. Overall, I definitely love the car. There is always a few things I want to do or would like different on my cars but this was everything I was looking for when I purchased and I am definitely enjoying it. I'll post up some pics with the ceramic coating when I get it back this weekend. Hopefully, I hit on all the key points on the "review" Now onto a question: I used to have an older car with keyless entry and one of the things I loved about it was I could lock my keys in the car. This Key Fob is HUGE!!! I don't like carrying it with me all the time, especially in a pair of shorts. Is there any way to lock it in the car and the car be secure? Thanks!
  10. No front license plate here in Ga... when I took off the bracket I got holes.... that sucks! Ended up having to use the computer... technology is great!
  11. I am thoroughly acquainted with the MKZ. I was looking for a very specific car (used) and finding what I wanted was difficult. Fortunatley, I lcated one and made the purchase over the phone. My last three cars have been bought this way. 2017 MKZ 3.0T AWD Midnight Saphire Blue Drivers Performance Package Luxury Package Panoramic Sunroof Climate Package Technology Package Pretty Much every option, but the first three were the ones I wanted and the color! I flew into St Paul, MN at 12:20 yesterday, was picked up in my car, completed the signatures and was on the road an hour later after a quick tour of the car. The drive was 1150 miles plus a few "side trips" looking for food or that all important open gas station in the middle of mowhere at 2:30 in the morning. I made it home in about 22 hours with several long stops and a nap along the way. This was the first I had driven of the Drivers Package and I was suprised at how much different it rode compared to the standard one (at least what I remembered). Still pretty smooth but you can tell it not just for highay cruising. It had a fairly full tank of gas but traffic jambs for over an hour took the mileage down and I ended up filling up after about 300 miles. Tank 2 took me to the middle of kknowwhere and I should have filled up sooner, but I like to know what the reserve is so.... I pushed it a little bit more. 448 miles @ 26.27MPG, running just under 80mph with more stop and go traffic. The key here is Premium 93 OCtane fule. I hit a little rain but had the pano sunroof open with the back windows cracked. That was perfect on the highway! Tank 3 took me to morning, and I stopped just to stop for coffee and breakfast, yes I had a little nap through the night as well. I drove most of tank 3 about the same as 2 but had more traffic on the road and too many poeple that dont understand the keep right except to pass thing. 335 Miles @22.89MPG.... I had to give it a shot with Regular unleaded. That will be my last tank EVER! I cant beleive it was that much different, didnt really try to see any power differences. Anyway, after the last stop, I made it home and went straight to cleaning the bugs off the windshield. She is pretty and ready to show off! Initial impressions: Use High Octane.... in case you didnt already know!!! Drivers Sport Package Seats are defintely highly bolstered and I wish they were a little "cushier" for the long hauls Power... Why do they even make a 4 cyl??? This thing is amazing and considering the weight if the car and the power it has, it gets decent mileage. Transmission- I can see Lincoln throwing the new 10-speed in this thing if it will fit. The 6-speed needs help!!! Slow and lazy shifts even in sport mode isnt cutting it. It did decent though, it's just old technology that needs to be updated. Multi contour seats are an awesome addition and I do beleive they helped me get through the trip. Homelink and my garage door opener dont get along!!! Every time I have to delete everything and start over to add a car. So as soon as everyone gets home tonight I will start the reprogramming. Gas tank- 18 gallons It seems to be at 0 miles with a little over a gallon left. The math still isn't adding up though, as I should be able to get closer to 500 miles before empty. I should add to this, the computer doesn't do math well either as it was about 1 mpg higher on all three tanks than what I calculated. Overall, LOVE the car!!! still gotta play with things and make it mine. No, a tune isn't happening on this one for a while (before you ask). personnal preference. The car now has 10,300 miles on it and it will be Loved and cared for like one of the family! I will have it ceramic coated and tinted in the next few weeks, and I am thinking about a clear bra of some sort. Aside from that, drive it and enjoy it. It is replacing my 2011 Roush Mustang convertible.... so it has big shoes (wheels) to fill. Mustang is for Sale... BTW! I am going to add the pics from my phone as a reply... I know better than to post without pics but I cant get them to load onto my computer.... :) I
  12. Thank you! When I joined I was still looking, but today I put my deposit on one and will fly to pick it up on Monday! 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0T AWD Midnight Saphire Blue Drivers Sport Package and interior Pano Roof Comfort package Technology Package Luxury Package Climate Package and of course the all weather floor mats... Haha I bought it used with 9K miles on it. I have owned Fords my whole Life and am selling my 2011 Roush Mustang convertible for this (For sale BTW). I needed some power and my must haves were the Pano Roof and Luxury Package plus the color. It was hard to find the right car but I think I found it. Bought it sight unseen.
