  1. Does anyone have more information on this? Which VIN's are affected?? Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million midsize cars in North America because the steering wheel can detach from the steering column and drivers could lose control. The recall covers certain Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ cars from the 2014 through 2018 model years. Ford says steering wheel bolts can loosen over time. The company says it knows of two crashes and one injury caused by the problem. Dealers will replace the bolts with longer ones that have more aggressive threads and a nylon patch to stop them from coming loose. Just over 1.3 million cars in the U.S. are being recalled. The rest are in Canada and Mexico.
  2. I have the same issue on my 2014 on the passenger side front door. I will be bringing it by the dealer as soon as the weather warms up. We have been buried here in New England with the recent storms. My vehicle is garaged and goes through a car wash with underbody spray wash on a regular basis (I have an unlimited monthly pass).
  3. I put a set of Michelin X-Ice Xi3 on my 2014 3.7L AWD. Car came with the 19" 245-40-19 All Season. I went with 245-45-18 for the snows. Snows are on their own rims. These are the most quiet snow tires I have ever owned. They stick to the road in heavy snow and come with a 40K mile tread life warranty which is unusual for snow tires. My all seasons are Conti DSW's. I went with these when the factory MXM4's were done at 25K miles. I have 20K now on the Contis and they are not quite half worn.
  4. Hello All, I put the Craven Speed Stubby antenna on my Xmas list and it was in my stocking.......... It looks nicer than the factory antenna, but you really take a hit with performance. If you are near the FM radio stations transmitters you will be able to pull in the HD radio signals, but for the most part when I had this antenna on the car the radio is constantly in the "acquiring HD signal mode". The only way the FM reception is remotely acceptable is if you turn off the HD Radio. I have put the factory antenna back on and will live with its ugliness....... I'll have the stubby as a spare if I ever forget to take mine off before going through the car wash and the OEM one gets broken. I think it is just too short to get over the rear deck line... Craven offers taller options for other vehicles, but not the Lincoln MKZ.........
  5. Had the GPS Module update done at the dealer today. Problem resolved!
  6. Drove the car for the fist time in the snow last night. These tires have teeth! Extremely impressed with them! Went with 245/45/18 on 18 in wheels for the snows. Car has 19 inch touring package and car had new Conti Extreme Contact DSW on it when bought used last year. I have the Conti DSW on other vehicles and found them to be very quiet, good in rain, but they are NOT a snow tire! The Michelin Ice Xi3 are even quieter than the Conti DSW.
  7. Thanks Chris109 for the mention on the antenna. My kids ae looking for gift ideas for me. Gonna have one of them buy one. The reviews on it are good.
  8. Behind the rear view mirror, along with a number of other sensors
  9. Hi Dr. Olds, Date of manufacture is Jan 2014. First date of in service is Sept 2014. It was a dealer demo for 8 months. My paperwork only shows the SYnc update, there was no GPS recalibration done. I will contact dealer today. Thanks!
  10. Hello All, I have a 2014 MKZ 3.7 AWD with all options (tech package, park assist, pano roof etc). The cursor, which is the car location, has a tendency to drift while driving on interstates so it tracks to the right or left of the highway. If I am travelling to a set destination, this causes all sorts of annoying direction updates as the systems shows the car on whatever street it can "latch" onto and attempts to redirect it to the hiway. It also causes the "TAKE A REST" warning to come on quite frequently as I Drive through lakes and ponds on the nav screen...... Used to always drift to the right of the road I was travelling on, Dealer did a "synch update with IDS", as an update was available. Dealer advised that there were no error codes in the system prior to updating. Since the update, the drift has gotten worse and the vehicle now is almost constantly "tracking" off of the road I am actually on. This only happens on the interstates. No issues when driving around city streets, etc. Any ideas as to what could be going on here? I'm bring the car back to have them take another look. I hope it's just a corrupted update as opposed to any issues with the GPS antenna module, etc..... I do have a 6 year 120K mile extended warranty that will cover any issues with a $100 deductible after the 4yr 50K bumper to bumper expires - which is soon as the car just hit 49K.....
  11. I just completed a 1000 mile trip to Niagara on the Lake from Boston on my new Michelin X Ice X13's. Absolutely NO difference in road noise between these and my Conti DWS Extreme Contact All Seasons. No appreciable difference in MPG's either.... dropped from 25.9 to 25.7 MPG .... actual calculated MPG's. Ride quality was not quite as smooth. Still have not seen any snow with them, but will update when I do.
  12. I am in the process of doing the same thing. I live in Boston Area, but frequently travel to Rochester / Buffalo area. I have the 19" wheels and have gone with the Michelin X Ice XI3 245/45/18 on some low cost wheels from Pep Boy ($125 each) for the winter. Tires mounted and balanced were $280 each, wheels were $125 each and the OEM TPMS sensors were $62 each. Grand total = $1868.......... The 18 wheels give a better ride...............
  13. Thanks Drolds! I'll do a fit check with a 17" wheel with the same bolt pattern to make sure that there are no interference issues with the calipers. I'll check on both front and rear as the front calipers are larger than the rears.
  14. Thanks for the comments on the offset WIlly! I put the snows that are mounted on the 17" rims next to the 19" facrtory wheels and they are the same OD, so I know that there will not be any issues with the AWD system and speedo output. My concern is if they will clear the calipers. I guess the only way to be sure would be to mount a rim on the car and do an actual fit check.
  15. I would like to re-use the 17" snow tires (225/50R17) that I have from my 2007 MKZ on my 2014 MKZ AWD 3.7L. Car is currently running on factory 19" wheels ( 8.5" wide) 245/40R19 tires. The OD of the 225/50R17 is the same as the 245/40R19. I have found a number of 17" x 7.5" aftermarket wheels that will fit my snow tires. Questions I have are: 1) What is correct offset for a 17" wheel for my car; 2) Will there be any interference issue with the 17" wheel and the calipers? I know that 18" wheels will fit, but I am trying avoid buying a new set of rubber. As it is, I will need to buy the wheels and the TPMS valves. Thanks for your help!

  17. I had all 3 trim pieces around my panoramic roof (Upper windshield and sides of rear window) replaced because they were delaminating (had a whitish haze beneath the surface). All were replaced under warranty with no issues. I was led to believe it has been a fairly common occurrence here in the Northeast. Parts were backordered and took around 3 weeks to come in. There were notes on my service order stating "extra time required to remove double side tape prior to installing new upper windshield molding". Perhaps your tech did not remove the original tape and this is why it is sitting higher. Mine is perfectly flush. I would bring it back and demand that they do the repair properly. Good luck! The pano roof is one of my favorite features of the car.... It's almost like driving a convertible
