  1. No updates yet for me. I'm supposed to get an update Friday. I'll just be glad to vet a VIN. Will be 7 weeks since I ordered on Saturday.
  2. I contact the concierge and the dealer a couple times a week. The concierge is supposed to call me with updates (as is the dealer) but I don't even wait for that :). The answer I've gotten from the concierge has been the same boilerplate language the last two times.
  3. Good luck. I hope you get your car on the sooner date! I ordered 8/27. No VIN yet... If I get something close to your timeline I should get a VIN any day now...
  4. It has been 5.5 weeks since I ordered. No VIN # yet... The anxiety is rough. I've never waited this long for a car before.
  5. Thanks. May seem silly but I'm actually looking forward to that feature.
  6. Does the 2017 MKZ have the Lincoln "welcome mat?" I didn't even look into the approach lighting when I was testing the car.
  7. I think it will take getting used to the push button gearshift, but its not something I'm worried about. Every new car takes some getting used to for me - I've usually been driving the previous car for 7-10 years! I honestly think getting used to all the aids (lane assist, parking assist, blind spot detection, etc. etc.) and the infotainment system will take longer. But not worried about that either...

  9. That's what I was worried about. It didn't seem that bad when I drove it, but it definitely could have been better. I've heard others say the same thing about the paddle shifters... But I'm still pretty sure it's better than my current car.
  10. It certainly competed with all of those for me. For the 2.0 or 3.0 FWD I completely agree with you. But having driven and compared most of those cars when selecting the 3.0 AWD with the drivers package and having owned a CTS for the last 7 years that is just how I saw it from my shopping/driving perspective. From a market perspective it is probably different though.
  11. I think the MKZ with 400HP compares more to the ATS-V (which is a little smaller), the CTS V Sport (not the V), the Mercedes AMG C43, the Audi S4, the BMW 5 series... Similarly equipped it competes well against and beats most on price, but doesn't have their name or pedigree. It's all down to personal preference
  12. I have a hard time believing this car is overpriced (I may be biased because I ordered one). It's more than I wanted to pay for car (I mean, I want it free, right - but I paid invoice and I'm okay with the price), but it's priced competitively, and I researched a number of other models. I did pay a bit of a premium for the Black Label, but there some options there I wanted. A nicely equipped reserve can be a downright bargain! I think people often compare this car to the wrong models on pricing, especially with the 3.0T engine. As for engine and handling, I'm far from an expert, but I too was originally worried about the 6 speed transmission. After a couple of test drives, however, I found the shifting to be just fine. I found power available whenever I wanted, which is what was most important to me. My 6 speed CTS has some "dead zones" in shifting sometimes when I want power, but I felt none of that with the MKZ. Again, I haven't driven it all that much, but my test drives eased my worries about the transmission.
  13. Everybody's situation is different. I prefer new cars, and although I can save off initial depreciation by buying a used car, then I don't have a new car, which is what I want! Saving money isn't a primary objective for me, or I wouldn't be buying a 2017 Lincoln (or 2017 anything) at all. Buying the car I want is the primary objective, and getting a good deal on what I want is also a goal. There are good reasons to buy new and used. There are good reasons to buy or lease. Everybody's situation is different. No matter what you do, negotiate well and make sure you are spending your money on what you want and it is worth it to you.
  14. For the first time I considered leasing with this vehicle. Nowadays I don't put a lot of mileage on my cars, and technology is changing so fast I may want to change cars sooner. But then I still decided to purchase. I have never kept a car less than 7 years. Back in the day I used to do a lot of lease unfriendly customizations (car audio and appearance modifications, some custom interior changes as well) to my cars, and although I probably won't do so many to this car (I thought the same with my current Cadillac CTS, but ended up doing a good amount anyway), I'd like to not have to think about it. And although I think I may change cars sooner, reality is I probably won't. If I do, I may lease the next one. Much like shortspark, these customizations do make me feel pretty connected to my cars.
  15. That's similar to how I bought my last three cars. Wanting a black label complicated things a bit for me.
  16. I certainly have anxiety as well, and I'm only 2 weeks in. Getting regular (any) updates proactively from Lincoln or the dealer would help. I realize it is not a new issue, and I signed up for this and have patience, but there is still a little anxiety because I want the car.
  17. I went with black label 3.0T AWD with the drivers package, and I went with the vineyard theme. I live about 25 miles from a Black Label dealer. I probably won't use the black label perks too often, but I like the having the option of getting the drivers package and getting a non black interior. The reserve does look like a better deal, but I just wanted what I wanted :)
  18. I would say the reviewer didn't do enough research or purposely didn't compare apples to apples. That 9K (canadian) more for an M3 won't have many options, and is a much smaller car. MKZ compares more closely in class (size) to a 5 series, with only a few less horses than the M3. A BMW 535i xDrive can get up past 75-80K (US$) without a lot of effort. A fully loaded Black Label MKZ 3.0 will be around $63K (US) MSRP. I don't know about the Mercedes c43 he compared it to, but for me the closest C class comparison I found in the US was the C450 AMG C class, but that is a smaller car, more on par with the 3 series BMW. I was able to option out one I would be good with at $66K, but you're giving up 40 HP and some torque and getting smaller car. I recently placed an order for a 3.0T (anxiously awaiting!). I cross shopped it with the Mercedes C450 AMG, the Jaguar XE and XF, Cadillac ATS and CTS (what I currently drive), and I took a peak at the volvo s90, Genesis g80 and audi S4 and A6. The Lincoln was more than I was expecting, both in price and car. Still, it was less than the comparable Jaguars, Mercedes, and CTS I looked into. Despite not having some of the brand recognition of the other cars I felt it was the best car for what I was looking for so I went with it. Hope it works out. Others will come to different conclusions, but are looking for different things. Edit, above I had XJ instead of XF. I meant Jaguar XF - have updated the post
  19. http://driving.ca/lincoln/mkz/reviews/road-test/car-review-2017-lincoln-mkz-reserve-awd-3-0t-2 Canadian review, apparently it's too expensive.
  20. Looks good Myron. Congrats on getting it. For everyone who has ordered one, what should i reasonably expect for how long it will take me to get a VIN and then actually receive the vehicle? How often should I expect updates from the dealer or should I just check in with the concierge here and there...
  21. Yes, I bought at invoice. It was a black label 3.0 AWD. I should note it took a little haggling.
  22. I got the chance to drive a 3.0 today. Great engine! I then pulled the trigger and ordered one. Now I wait anxiously.
  23. Thanks for that link. I wish they had gone into more detail about handling with 3.0t, but I'll take what I can get at this point.
  24. Does anybody know if there is a professional review of the 3.0 engine yet? Or any official track times? Or even a youtube driving review of 3.0? The lack of professional reviews on this car is frustrating.
  25. Thanks everyone for the info. Sounds like the 3.0 is great. I still feel I want to drive it first, but I may just go order. Have to think about the colors too... I like my current car, so I guess there is no rush... but I'm definitely ready for something new.
