  1. That’s I guess is the issue.. they can’t pinpoint what exact circumstances cause the issue.. but in general (and this happens to me fairly regularly). . If you remote start the car say with your lincoln way app.. the 15 mins times out and the car shuts off just before (say 3-5 mins) before you get in the car... when you start it (at least in my case) you will get the chime from the cluster only and will not goes through the audio system.. shut the car off .. let it set ohh 15-20 mins .. get back in .. restart it.. chime goes through the audio system properly

  2. Ok so here is what I have learned... according to the service manager at my dealership. He has required Ford engineers for this issue on several occasions.. he told me that there is basically one thing that causes it BUT there are a few things that cause that one thing...

So it’s evidently the audio/sync energizing timing.. the chime itself is generated by the cluster. As the ACM starts up there is a timing/handshake that hands off the audio from the cluster to the ACM. When that handshake fails that’s when you get the harsh cheap sounding chime.

The problem lies in what is causing the handshake/handoff mid-timing. There are a few things that can cause it that they are aware of .. one is voltage, evidently there is a pretty tight limit on voltage requirements in order for the ACM to take the hand off. If the ACM thinks the voltage is to low, it will “conserve power and not take the chime handoff to conserve power for essential functions like starting the car. This “power misread” can be caused by several things .. ACM wake time, cluster voltage output rise the me... etc. The other thing that causes the issue is when remote starting etc the ACM and cluster only “partially” wake to run the car during the remote run time and then shut down again, this can put the cluster or ACM in a strange state where it doesn’t properly reset and re-execute the hand off..

He said they are working on trying to figure out where the main issue stems from but it’s been pretty slow and difficult to pinpoint.

  3. As my dear, departed uncle used to say,  "Anything that gives you trouble is called she." :hysterical:

my grandad had a slightly different spin on that saying...

"if it has tits or tires, its gonna give you trouble"

  4. My 2017 has a rattle on the passenger side door when I play songs with certain kicks or deep bass lines. When I push on the arm rest part of the door it stops and sounds a good as the driver side door which is perfect. I noticed it probably a month after I got it which would have been the end of September. I'll likely get it looked at when I go in for my first oil change in April after a trip to Florida. I will likely get any front end rock chips fixed too since it will be a long drive.

Just an FYI, the song I was playing when I first noticed it was "the Other Side" by French For Rabbits. If you don't want the rattle you might want to avoid this song as it may have sparked the rattle, lol.

my '17 has the EXACT same thing on the exact same door and the exact same "fix" (pushing on door handle)

  5. There are tons around me (well relatively) not nearly as many as there are FCA product (auburn hills, what can you expect). But so far I am only 1 of two driver package cars I have seen in 10 months of ownership

  6. Exactly... the app is to allow you to start the car to warm up or cool down from the comfort of your office, restaurant etc. or if you are unsure you locked the doors you can lock them from the same remote area. The fob being present to drive makes sure that someone don't hack your phone etc through wifi then go on a nice little joy ride in your car ...

  7. Not sure about better but the traffic re-route does work. Case in point traveling I-75 through mid Michigan and the Nav kept telling me to get off the next exit... bewildered because I knew we had a good 75-80 miles left on the road, but I was like why not... and as I was exiting topping the off ramp I could see the traffic ahead at a dead stop. It took me parallel to the interstate for about 5 miles put me back on in front of the mess and continued on... personally I like the sync integration better than the apple CarPlay overall (preference)

    Just my 2 cents

  8. The battery on my mazdaspeed 6 all but set on top of the turbo. The only thing I noticed was a "shorter" total life. The oe battery about 3 yrs and the autozone "gold" that I replaced it with lasted about 4 (was replaced under pro-rated rate -that essentially paid the "core" charge)

  9. My impressions from test driving the XE (cross shopping) hit many of the same points.

One thing that the XE wins hands down on... the ZF 8-speed .... Jag got their collective sh*t together on that one. It even kills the programming of the ZF in the Audi S4/5. If could have that trans in the Z... wowzer.

  10. I actually contacted Lincoln on this on Friday (my app stopped working) there is an onboard modem update for the pcu and it's a hard download(dealer only).

Mine would not do anything from the app could start/lock/etc.

Figure I will get it taken in and get the modem update and the audio control module update (chime/battery issue) done
