  1. Creeping up on 200k, I've replaced a couple of outer tie rod ends, seat heat/cool module, 12v battery, and a couple of pad/rotor changes. 2nd owner, I purchased in September of 2016 with 38,000 miles on it(for $14,000).
  2. Just an update, I'm at 130,770 miles and still driving great! Brake pads still don't need replacement, and haven't had any more repairs required either.
  3. I purchased my 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid in September of 2016 with aprox 38,000 miles on it for $14,000. I now have 112,000 miles on it. Brake pads were replaced by the dealer prior to my purchase. The only repair it has required was replacement of a malfunctioning Seat Heater Control Module this summer. Brake pads are still good. I live in southeast Michigan and drive it year round. I put Goodyear Assurance tires on it twice now. Got about 50,000 miles out of the first set. Twice they have helped save me from what would have been devastating crashes on Grand River Ave. Both times involved drivers turning left in front of me, requiring evasive maneuvers that I didn't think the car would be capable of. I was incredibly impressed with how the car responded. I have not had any issues with winter driving, just need to go easy on the throttle from a dead stop in icy conditions. My Winter gas mileage is around 37 mpg, and in the Summer I average around 41mpg. I am a proponent of letting my car heat up before driving in the winter. Call me crazy, but I believe in being able to see out of my windows before entering a roadway. I drive with my windows and moonroof open whenever weather allows and use my seat heaters/coolers regularly. I'm not big on using A/C but will run it when it's very hot, with or without my windows down. I drive within 5 miles of the speed limit(5 miles over), and I don't try to Hyper-mile it. I do drive with Forward Vision though, I don't accelerate to red lights, and almost never need to brake except for stop signs/signals and prior to turning. It helps to pay attention to traffic in front of you! I do avoid driving on the freeway when possible and not too inconvenient, but that is purely for my sanity, not because of improved gas mileage. Not crazy about the Sync system, but can navigate it quite easily now that I am familiar with it. Really wish that there was a way to delete the Sirius radio options though. I've owned at least 16 different cars during my 36 years of driving: mainly Fords, a few Mercurys, a Nissan, a couple of Chevys, a Cadillac, a Honda, a Volkswagen, a Toyota, and even a Dodge(lapse in judgement). They were: Sedans, Coupes, SUVs, Hatchbacks, Station Wagons and Pick Up trucks; but my 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is one of my favorites of all time. Probably second only to a 1964 Ford Falcon Futura I owned way back in the late 80s! Would love to hear from other owners that have surpassed 100k and how their mileage and repair history is!
  4. A long overdue follow up: it was in fact the Seat Heat Controller Module.
  5. I've had the car since 9/16, bought it with 38k on it. They both worked until this Spring, then neither one would work. Neither heating nor cooling will stay on. Thanks, gives me somewhere to start.
  6. I have a 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid with 90k +/- and the seat heat/cool controller is malfunctioning. When I press heat or cool, for the driver's, or the passenger's seat, the function light will light up for a few seconds, then shut off. Wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem, and if so, how was it solved? Thanks in advance for your input.
  7. Update 2: absolutely no smoke this morning when i drove it with a cold engine. on my way to take the car back to the dealership in a moment, guess I am going to buy it.
  8. Update:just checked the oil level looks 80% full. Brand new oil.
  9. Help! I am looking at buying a 2011 MKZ Hybrid with 34,500 miles on it. One owner car, little old lady allegedly. Being sold by a non-Lincoln dealer. Black on Black, moon and tune for $16k. Been looking for this car for months. Found it the day they listed it. PROBLEM: When I test drove it I floored it from a dead stop. There was a large cloud of blue smoke. Was immediately afraid. Repeated the process, smaller cloud of blue smoke. A couple more times and it stopped. I have read of this happening with a FFH before and overfilled oil or wrong engine oil being the suspect , then not happening again. Dealer seems to think that it is because the car had hardly been driven. She averaged less than 600 miles a month and that doesn't take into account that it was taken on a 4000+ mile trip(was able to discern that from the Carfax report, it was serviced in California once). Has anyone had this problem before? I brought the car home for the night so I can try it again on a cold engine and see if repeats the smoking. Getting ready to do so shortly. Wanted to get this plea for feedback out there ASAP, hope someone is reading. I have a very small window to make a decision. If it doesn't do it I am very tempted to buy it. They are few and far between, especially with such low miles. I am not usually an aftermarket warranty guy but don't think I would be comfortable buying it without one.
  10. I too am looking at purchasing either a used FFH or a used MKZh. My budget allows for either a 2012 or a 2013 model with 35-60k miles depending on model and features. The comfort factor of the MKZh has me leaning towards the Lincoln, but I am concerned with repair costs in the future being higher on the Lincoln than the Ford. I also would love some insight into 2012 vs. 2013. Thanks for the input!
  11. Also, a friend of mine had a late model Lincoln recently and he found that replacement parts were very high priced. Don't know if this was just the particular parts that he needed, suspension/front end parts I believe, or if I can expect to pay much more for any part that a MKZ may require. Thanks again for the input!
  12. Hello all! I joined the forum to get some honest advice and info on the MKZ Hybrid. I am due for a new(used) vehicle. My commute is 32 miles +/- each way 5 days a week. I have two routes that I take depending on time, traffic, weather and mood. The shorter route is 29 miles and consists of county roads for the most part with speed limits of 35-50 mph. The other route has 12 miles of county roads with a 45mph speed limit and 20 miles of freeway with a speed limit of 70mph. Although the shorter route takes an average of 9 minutes longer, I prefer it to the freeway as the freeway route is a very busy stretch, prone to accidents, stoppages, and aggressive driving. My Mountaineer averages only 14mpg(5.0liter engine) and I want to minimize my gas use yet have a smooth and comfortable ride. I have had a Prius in the past which I enjoyed, but wouldn't say that it had a smooth and comfortable ride. My budget is right around $16k which in this area can get me a 2012 MKZh with around 57k miles, or a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE with around 40-45k miles. Wondering if anyone can give me information on the differences and advantages between the 2012 year and the 2013 models. I know there is a lot more experience out there with the drivetrain of the 2012 versions and the 2013 had a few hiccups at first, hoping for some insight. Thanks for any responses! :)
