  1. Try another charger if you have one to charge your tablet to see if thats the issue. Its weird because those 110v sockets in our lincolns really hold alot of power, I myself use it to power 2 active DJ speakers and they work just fine, and I have also used it to charge my tablet with no issues. I would say switch the charger, and if that does not work, take it back to the dealer.
  2. I actually wondered the same thing. Since I really used my last roof rack on my 13' Escape, I was looking for an alternative for my MKZ. I came across a website called discountramps.com and found a good universal one for $30 and you can pretty much attach anything on it, from bike racks to kayak clamps. I use it to haul around my 7' Ladder. It is very sturdy and comes with rubber feet so you don't scratch your roof.
  3. I have a 2016 with just over 1,000 miles and I got 2 rocks chips on my hood already and my car is black, so you could notice the 2 white dots from a mile away. The best advice I could tell you is not to purchase the touch up paint from lincoln. I went to my body shop guy and I let him use the paint they use with a little brush, there paint is much thicker and will provide a more even coat when touching up the little paint chips. Finishing this off with a light wet sand and waxing your hood will give you a pretty good finish. I was told that lincoln has downgraded in there touch up paint, as they now use enamel, which is pretty much water with some color. It will do the job, but any little detergent will wash it away. Just my two cents.
  4. Honestly that is b.s. My previous vehicle was a 2013 Escape and it had the same 2.0 engine I have now and I was getting 17.9 mpg. I understand that the mkz is a longer vehicle, but I would assume by being a car and more aerodynamic that it should get the same or better mpg. Right now Im at 16.7 mpg and I have 1100 miles. So I think Im going to be in the same boat as you.
  5. I actually noticed this the other day while actually paying attention to the amount of gallons I was filling up. I'm 2 gallons shy of 16. So is there a dealer fix to this?
  6. I actually use SunTek for my window tinting on my vehicles, it's pretty cheap and good quality. I found that the entire clear bra for SunTek is $150, I just haven't gotten a quote on installation yet.
  7. Yes a powered speaker increases volume by alot, but remember, you are only going to hear the music through that one speaker. But in my case, I have a 12" enclosure, so that alone is louder than all the speakers in my car altogether. I also have a lease, which is why I dont get into hard wiring anything anymore because of the hastle I used to go through in pulling everything out when I give in the lease. The 110 plug is exactly behind the center console under the rear a/c vents. I pulled up the rear seat to run my power cable and my aux cable from the trunk so it wouldnt bother anyone sitting in the back seat with any wiring. Its a great alternative for those looking to be a little loud once in a while, and for tailgate party's.
  8. After going over to my installer and getting the info on the clear bra, he does not do 3M anymore because supposedly there is a new company with a much thicker clear bra and withstands much more. The thing is, that it is much more expensive. Just the hood alone is $270, and to do the entire front end it would be about $750. That is just way to expensive for me, especially for something that I am only going to use for 3 years. So I was thinking about just ordering the 3M clear bra kit from ebay and installing it myself. I saw a video on youtube of a few people doing it and it does not look that difficult, it looks pretty much like installing window tint, just on a larger scale. Does anyone have any experience installing a clear bra themselves? You can actually purchase the entire front end clear bra from 3M for $110.
  9. So far so good. I actually have been using it alot since day one. My toolbox actually rolls down and out on it making it alot easier to load and unload it from the trunk (and easier on my back) and I don't leave behind one scratch on the vehicle. These are the kind of things that make me happy. I understand there are people who don't mind wear and tear on a vehicle and I respect that, but if I can keep my vehicle looking good for a long period of time, thats just a big plus in my book.
  10. LQ, its actually not a powered sub I have, but a regular powered 2-way speaker. When I want to over power the factory stereo system, I fold down one of the back rear seats and let her rip. It's literally too loud to listen to even half way, but its perfect for those songs that you just can't listen to at normal volume. Since the mkz has a normal 110v plug, you can pretty much connect anything in it.
  11. Well, after looking around for an easy and inexpensive solution to my situation, I walked into home depot and discovered that you can purchase for less than $6 one roll of drawer lining made of rubber material that will match perfectly with your trunk. With just a little cutting to fit here and there, it will allow the plastic piece in the trunk to remain without any damage and be well protected. It took me about 20 minutes between the cutting and tucking the liner behind the plastic to install the entire thing.
  12. In the second pic is where you can tell somewhat that there is a clear bra on it. But honestly, thats not bad at all for some paint protection. I guess if you don't mind touching up your paint every 6 months its ok not to put any kind of protection on your car, but I just got a little chip and I'm flipping out since my car is black and you can notice any little imperfection. So a small line like this is definitely better than paint chips any day.
  13. Thanks for the reply, so I guess there is a no go for the sub. Good thing I carry a 12" powered speaker in the trunk for when I really want to get loud.
  14. Hmmm, something to think about. But honestly, I think even if its a little noticeable, its better than dealing with rock chips on your hood.
